You missed out the inevitable trip to Bargain Booze before we walk to the station.
CosbehFox Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 For peeps in your motors, which way is everyone going? We have the ballaches of the roadworks on the M1 and then, if you get off at juncition straight after them, you have the awful A61 around Chesterfield which is murder at all times. Any advice. Last time went through Chesterfield there...long and then back through Sheff City Centre....long...all around horrible Chapeltown. Also Parking? I went on some Jewson depot last time.
Ozwin Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 I'd go but I'm a bit iffy about going to games on my own. Especially away.
Andrew_leicester Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Anyone catching the train ? just wondering what time they finish at ?
syston_fox Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Anyone catching the train ?just wondering what time they finish at ? If you live in Leicester then there are no trains back at that time of night.
RowlattsFox Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Anyone catching the train ?just wondering what time they finish at ? Think the last ones half 9ish. I am getting train but I'm staying the night. Any ideas on pubs which City fans will be gathering beforehand?
maddog Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 I'm expecting a win from this one now after they lost to Port Vale. And Ipswich couldn't beat Shrewsbury so lets make sure we beat them too. in normal time+ET
Unabomber Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 Think the last ones half 9ish. I am getting train but I'm staying the night.Any ideas on pubs which City fans will be gathering beforehand? If you get there early enough id say go into town, there are some great places on division street. A place called The Devonshire Cat is worth a visit, they have a massive selection of world ales. The Old House is worth going in for world beers and ciders. But if you want to go to more mainstream places then The Globe is worthwhile its cheap and close to the train station, (straight up the hill on the left near the uni) In town there is your standard Weatherspoons too, with The Huntsmen being the best bet. Just ask if you want directions or any more info.
C-man Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Last time, City fans were shepherded into 'The Howard' opposite the train station, but seeing as trains are mostly unviable next Tuesday it might be different.
tbf Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Got my student tickets today, but they just say ADULT on. Don't know if this information is useful to anyone?! I lived in Sheffield for 4 years and I can say that the atmosphere at Bramhall Lane is always good. One of my favourite grounds. Re: Pubs The Howard is the away supporters pub, it's ok and doesn't take you off the line from the station to the ground. Just up the pedestrianised road is The Globe, a Scream pub, offering cheap drinks (not sure how away friendly they are. The police are pretty hot on herding away fans to specific places so hide your colours if you want to keep your options open. If you do conceal your colours, West Street offers a wide variety of drinkeries. Not on West Street, Dev Cat is good for ale drinkers and a wide variety is on offer there, bit more tricky to find though. I would avoid pubs by the ground at all costs if you aren't a Blades fan. I will be catching the train but only back to Manchester.

Tilley Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 This should be decent, first game of the season & the line up in the car is looking good.

Anyone getting a ticket should just get a student one because there's nothing different about it as far as I can see. There are two stubs. The one on the right is removed for adult tickets, and the one on the left is removed for concession tickets. If you still have the left stub, then someone has ballsed up at our end.
tbf Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 Either way i am pretty sure that they use a barcode reader, so you never actually see a person at the turnstile.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 ticket office say they have sold over 1200 tickets and that tickets are selling very well Interesting and suprising considering last time's turn out, are more people opting for Portmand Road instead? or is it because of the Tuesday night? Anyway, I cannot wait for this one though and although I have never seen us win at Bramall Lane, I am quite confident after Port Vale went there and won and quite confident with Paddy Kenny not going to be in goal. If we can get something at both grounds in would be great but I'd love a win at Sheffield United more than anything (apart from Hillsborough)... Roll on Tuesday...
Bluefoxtim Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 Either way i am pretty sure that they use a barcode reader, so you never actually see a person at the turnstile. Regardless, I'm yet to see anyone refused entry over a ticket. The guy ripping the stubs off would have to be a right sad git to kick up a fuss! I remember when I was younger, I couldn't make a game with my dad, so my mum had my ticket instead. She went to the game and got to the turnstiles, then asked if she should pay the difference on the adult ticket price! The bloke just laughed her through.
