Cobbo Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Gutted we played instead of watching what sounds like an epic win. Hmm.

flanimal Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 You're kidding, I've been lied too. Who was that black fellow up front with Howard? Marlon Harewood, signed yesterday for £2m.
Lillehamring Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Chelsea shitting Dagger again then. listening to the replay, there did seem to be quite a long pause before it started, which at least shows a bit of respect towards the fans... a bit.

Babylon Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 So then... after got knows how many weeks of speculation, we are starting with the same team we finished with last year except for Wellens and Weale. Great stuff.
Babylon Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 oh then babylon does Cheer up grumpy we're only mucking about.
flanimal Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Yeah, but when Leicester got promoted to the Premier League in '96, the team was virtually identical except for Keller in goal and Prior. Maybe it's a good enough line-up.

We signed Guppy and Elliott later on in the season though I think... fingers crossed we have the money to strengthen if we need to.
haraven Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 So boom of the bench Fryatt continues where he let go last year with his groin injury? Impressive. Good stuff to get one in!
leicesterseddon Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 So then... after got knows how many weeks of speculation, we are starting with the same team we finished with last year except for Wellens and Weale.Great stuff. Exactly what I was thinking - although I can see us bringing in quite a few loan players. After how much we used the loan system last season, I find it unlikely that we won't be using it at all this season. Plus I think we will make at least one more permanent signing before the window shuts, even if it's after the Swansea game. I'm still a bit worried about our strength up front, but the relatively small number of new signings in general doesn't concern me too much, as long as NP's purchases turn out to be good signings. Personally I think we've been guilty of making too many changes in the last few seasons, with 10 players in and 10 out every summer - which is no good when you're trying to build a team. It's nice to have a bit of continuity for once.

It's nice to have a bit of continuity for once. Absolutely. A major reason for our recent struggles, particularly in our relegation season. I can't remember too many successful sides that had such a high turnover of players/managers.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Just got back You know, I am seriously considering never going to a fooking friendly ever again (oh, rant coming) because the people I sat next do annoyed the fook out of me. THIS IS A FRIENDLY... mistakes are supposed to be made, we aren't meant to be perfect. Granted, we are 6 days away, but the 'fans' shouting how rubbish we are, two people near me almost desperate for Dyer to feck up every time, just so they could rip into him. It was just breathtakingly stupid by some of them. Here we are, in a low pace, low quality, low passion friendly, and there are the fans laying into the players, it beggars belief. What do they want? a 6-0 win with absolute perfection, so we don't find the inevitable holes there are in the team, which can be worked on now, until it's too late. And don't get me started on the woman behind who discussed giving her son about £5k to buy his flat which (i quote) "isn't a lot of money" plus other wisdoms including a list of fruits which were growing this summer in her garden. [Rant over, nearly] Anyway, onto the game, first half was pretty dull and slow to be honest, not a lot to motivate the soul and warm the heart, though we did have a lot of possession and had plenty of time in and around their box. Second half was a little bit better, Valla came back into it and came close several times, which is when the twat brigade started to lay seige on the players. The goal was well taken, he did well to react to the mistake and take it on, I was happy, until that pile of shite decided to blast out of the PA machine Anywho, good work out for the players, move onto Swansea, and we'll see what we can do. Oh, and why the West stand is considered the best I do not know, half of the time I had to strain my neck to get a view of the action on the near left hand corner flag, because all the heads are in the way. Still, each to their own.
Matt Posted 2 August 2009 Author Posted 2 August 2009 Not a bad game, not outstanding but it was only a friendly and wasn't really expecting much anyway, Think we just edged the game, Very impressed with N'Guessan and Wellens.
David Guiza Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Not a bad game, not outstanding but it was only a friendly and wasn't really expecting much anyway, Think we just edged the game, Very impressed with N'Guessan and Wellens. I did'nt go today but i seen him against Shrewsbury and Mansfield and he really impressed me. Nothing over the top just sensible controlled play and a decent passer as well. I do still think we need another striker even if it's just as cover becuase you may as well play Campbell over Dickov <_< .
