Shrenchel Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 How do these things get decided, votes from each club?Surely if the majority of the Prem voted for it the big 4 wouldnt have any choice? Depends. Some things require all the teams to agree, some things need 14 of them to agree. Be alright if it was the latter I guess. Well, until Abramovich buys Whelan and Gartside a villa in the Bahamas, a kilo of charlie and some Russian bitches that can suck a basketball through a smarties tube.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Don't really agree with the playoff system (prefer the model used in Germany) we have at the moment but no doubt it'd make the league more exciting and should help to even out the balance between the "Big 4" and rest. I'd rather the fourth spot went to the Cup winners but this could work too.

This is all the same as the '39th game' talk... it won't happen because the big clubs (Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal) will never agree too it.

Eh?! The chairmen of the big four were pulling down their Y-fronts ready to skull fvck their 39th game all the way to Seoul.
filbertway Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I'd love it if they brought in this play off for the champions league! It's start to even the prem out a bit as the "big four" won't be guarenteed the champions league money year in year out which means (hopefully) their better players will want to leave them and go to a club that's competing in the champions league. Apparently it will need at least 16 chairmen to vote in favour of it.
davieG Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Aren't they always bleating about having to many games. As for spreading the money they could do that without playing extra games. Not that I care too much about anything relating to the current Premier League.
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Swear I read that if they do decide to go with a play-off system then its only between 4th and 5th. Don't really agree with the playoff system (prefer the model used in Germany) Always have to bring Germany into it.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Always have to bring Germany into it. Except I don't, do I. Their playoff system is by far fairer. Just pointing that out. Bored by my posts? Don't read 'em would be my advice...

Asha Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I'd only approve the idea if it was like some have suggested: 4th place team would go straight to the final. 6th v 7th would play for the right to meet 5th place team in the semi, and the winner of the semi would play the 4th place team. Therefore, only 3 games.
sdb Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Like the idea but it makes no sense really. The battle for a top 4 spot won't be exciting any more and the top 4 will change soon anyway.
purpleronnie Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I cant see any team outside the top 4 doing anything in the champions league, for me the strongest 4 teams should represent the premiership in the CL.
Craig Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I cant see any team outside the top 4 doing anything in the champions league, for me the strongest 4 teams should represent the premiership in the CL. Ideally, only Champions should enter the Champions League. Even if this means the League Cup winners and FA Cup winners entering the CL instead of 2nd/3rd/4th. The rest should go into the Europa League. That's how it should be. It'd add more spice to the Europa League, and it'd make our cups more competitive. Still, it'l never happen and it'd probably not work either
Uncle Albert Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 You can block people. What and not have the chance to wind the moron up? Come on think about it.

sdb Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Anyone watching Stoke Man city? May end up with egg on my face but Viera is not the player he once was. To put it kindly.
purpleronnie Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Anyone watching Stoke Man city? May end up with egg on my face but Viera is not the player he once was. To put it kindly. No shit, He struggled with injury but also struggled to get into the juve side.
sdb Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 No shit, He struggled with injury but also struggled to get into the juve side. What's your point?! He's on like £100k a week. If he's not fit he shouldn't be starting a game at this level. And as I indicated, it's not that anyway. He's well, well past it.
Corky Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Stoke 1-1 Man City. Stoke had a goal disallowed near the end, seems like a controversial decision.
sdb Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I watched the first half, Ref was certainly generous towrds the away team. Lescott deliberatly handeled on the edge of their box - no booking. Viera committed several fouls and stamped on Whelan without a booking (got one later, by which time he could/should've been off imo). No idea about the goal but BBC seemed to suggest v harsh.

Tbh i don't think it is a bad idea at all and much better than the shit they usually come up with (39th game). Would definately make the mid-table teams try even harder to try and get up there because of the financial oppurtunites.
Tilley Posted 17 February 2010 Posted 17 February 2010 Still think Arsenal will win it. Might even stick a few quid on it.
