Daggers Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I guess we'll never know but higher attendances with lower prices seems the better option. I'd rather it was made more select - with really low gates consisting of people who have intelligence, humour and an appreciation of the game.
C-man Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I'd rather it was made more select - with really low gates consisting of people who have intelligence, humour and an appreciation of the game. In that case we'd be playing at Friar Lane.
Dr The Singh Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I'd rather it was made more select - with really low gates consisting of people who have intelligence, humour and an appreciation of the game. There would only be about 10 fans then Daggars???
davieG Posted 24 August 2009 Author Posted 24 August 2009 I'd rather it was made more select - with really low gates consisting of people who have intelligence, humour and an appreciation of the game. Do you need a reason not to go then?
Lillehamring Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I'd rather it was made more select - with really low gates consisting of people who have intelligence, humour and an appreciation of the game. so are you proposing we relocate to germany then?
leicesterseddon Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Well I was comparing like for like as in Barnsley v's Barnsley and I wasn't fretting over how we compared to other clubs, note I didn't mention other clubs. As for not getting higher attendances due to fewer ST sales and higher prices was pretty much why I asked the question. Wasn't really responding to you Davie G, just proffering a view generally associated with the topic All accusations of fretting can be dropped...

foxaholic Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 21,711 is a very respectable attendance for an unappetising game to which the opposing club bring fewer than a thousand fans. We aren't going to get massive attendances this season, simply because we haven't sold that many season tickets, due to price and the extremely early renewal deadline. If we're in contention for a play-off place come the end of the season we'll get big crowds towards the end though, I'm sure about that.Anyway, I don't think we have anything to gain fretting over how our home attendances stack up against other clubs. Away attendances are much more important To get less than a team who lost their last home game 7-1 and in the bottom three of the division below and a much bigger town unbeaten in ourselves is discouraging .
Guest Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 To get less than a team who lost their last home game 7-1 and in the bottom three of the division below and a much bigger town unbeaten in ourselves is discouraging . Norwich have a huge number of season ticket holders, who are encouraged to use their direct debit scheme. It's a very attractive package, apparently, which is why so many fans have taken the plunge. On top of that, their season tickets are available before Xmas, so many could have renewed then, without thinking that they would be playing in the third tier this season. Before making comparisons with Norwich, see what their season ticket sales are like for next season, and then draw your conclusions. This also ignores that fact that Norwich is a one club/one sport county, with very little competition and a massive potential fanbase, unlike clubs from the Midlands, or from towns with highly successful teams playing other sports.
CosbehFox Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 On MOTD the Wigan turn out looked abysmal. What was it in the end, about 18,000? I know it's a small place and a rugby town and all that but if you can't get over 20k when Man United are in town then something's not right... You had to be on Wigan's ticket database and have attended at least four games last season to get a ticket. It was in order to get some loyalty/more fans through the gate for poor games tactic.
Father Ted Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Does anybody know how many Barnsle bought down? Can't have been many!
maddog Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Does anybody know how many Barnsle bought down? Can't have been many! 800 ish.
clare Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I don't think there's a lot to read into the figures, but I can see where you're coming from. Less people through the gates = less revenue. Maybe a big factor is the recession? People have less cash to spend and can't go to as many games. Personally, living in Leeds myself, it's quite expensive for me to go and I can only get to two or three games a year (preferably away games!) I've a feeling that if our momentum continues, gates will rise.
CosbehFox Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 I expect a decent crowd against Blackpool. It's 40% off for all council workers.
Corky Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 The simple reason is ticket pricing. What would you say would be a good price to charge? And would it guarantee extra thousands on the attendance?
Raj Posted 25 August 2009 Posted 25 August 2009 What would you say would be a good price to charge? And would it guarantee extra thousands on the attendance? 2 pounds. no. Cos of the recession And City fans are tight. And most are thick as shit. hence they leave to go to the ground, get lost, forget where they are going and end up in Morrisons looking for "return of the Mac' by Mark Morrisons. Something like that anyway....
