Father Ted Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 But he did play for nothing. I thought that was only Summerbee and Mckinlay?
davieG Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 I thought that was only Summerbee and Mckinlay? Ah you could be right.
Joe. Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 Elvis Hammond's name should never be banded around our five worst ever players. At least he did something every now and again.
rico Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 Norman LeetTom English Kevin Macdonald Martin Henderson Worst keeper award goes to Him we had from West Brom in the 80's (name escapes me) was it Tony Godden? and you missed Roger Davies off your list
The Doctor Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 I thought that was only Summerbee and Mckinlay? they were on pay as you play contracts which were extended over the season. similarly gemmill signed on a succession of one month contracts only getting payed when he played.
davieG Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 they were on pay as you play contracts which were extended over the season. similarly gemmill signed on a succession of one month contracts only getting payed when he played. When they first signed they were playing to earn a contract and were paid nothing other than expenses. Weren't they taken on when we weren't allowed to 'sign' players?
The Doctor Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 When they first signed they were playing to earn a contract and were paid nothing other than expenses.Weren't they taken on when we weren't allowed to 'sign' players? they were signed during the transfer embargo however something to do with the fact that they were free agents and the nature of their contracts made it acceptable in the FA's eyes.

Yes I understand that but that was because they didn't have contracts as we weren't paying them.
Koke Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 Elvis Hammond's name should never be banded around our five worst ever players. At least he did something every now and again. For all the shit talking and jokes we make about him, Elvis did actually do something once in a while. He was shit but I've seen far worse players pull on our shirt than Elvis.
