Newcastle Pre Match ramblings.

If Big Steve is fit for Monday night i'm gonna be feeling a lot more optimistic about this one. Despite what some say, he's a key player in my opinion.

I really cant see Steve playing much in this at all really. By all means I hope he does but he surely cant even last longer than an hour.

I'd start Gallagher then if needs be bring Stevie on.

9.45p.m. in Newcastle... "We're top of the League... we're top of the Leaaaaaaguuuuueeeee... We're Leicester City, we're top of the League!"

Here's hoping. :D

Yeah same. I mean obviously he'll want to play on Monday, but if he's not going to be fully fit, I'd rather he didn't travel. I think we've got good cover up front now with the additions of Gallagher and Kermorgant. There's no point rushing him back - this is going to be a long season and we'd be foolish to bring a key player back too soon only for him to get injured again.

Nice, hopefully he will make the last piece of the jigsaw to make a good team ahead of the game at Newcastle.

Needed for this game as well I think, with the Newcastle defenders being fairly big.

Despite suffering a stress fracture of the foot against Huddersfield, it looks as if Shola will be fit to lead the line against Leicester tomorrow night. The striker today revealed that following the exits of the likes of Owen, Martins and Viduka he has relished the extra responsibility given to him. With five goals in five this season it does seem to be working for the lad.

Shola said: 'I felt in the summer after Mark Viduka, Michael Owen and Oba Martins had gone that I could seize the moment.

I am the guy that is entrusted to lead the line and I'm enjoying that. I always believe if I am given the role in the team I can contribute. It was a massive disappointment going down as a Newcastle fan.

I don't want to see Newcastle in this division but we are here. We deserve to be here. I believe I can contribute to us getting back into the Premier League.

I made that decision to do everything to help us get back up. And so did the rest of the players.'

Says in the NOTW he is set to play too. I suppose he will have a few pain killing injections in his foot...

That is ok, Brown will just stamp on the other foot instead.

Lets not get carried away yet. It would be nice to be top but is so early in the season and we have got a lot of games to get through. Im just happy at the brilliant start we have had to the season and quietly hoping we can carry it on throughout the season which will put us in good stead for the play offs and above.

Cdn't agree more but the anticipation is growing and I can't wait for the game - it is just so exciting to think we can be top so early on.

Might even be a high scoring game - 3-2 to the boys in blue - Fryatt,Gallagher and N'Guessan to score :D

So all we gotta do is win by 3 clear goals and we're top?

No problem!

Wouldn’t a win by 2 clear goals do it? We've got a goal difference of +2 and WestBrom have one of +4, so if we win by 2 we go top by virtue of alphabetical order. :yesyes:

a win by 2 goals?

heres hoping!

we never do well against the magpies, will be happy with a draw. Plus the pressure of perhaps going top?

classic LCFC choker!

Lets be honest any of us would have said 8 points from 15 in the first five games would habve been fantastic -give the teams we've played.

A win would be great but i sense a loss.

sorry but there it is.

Never the less

GO FOR IT!!!

Blue Army!

(wish i was going)

Surely he can't be fit enough? :dunno:

Like Howard for us, I would be very surprised to see him play 90 minutes.

It's time for the experienced players to step up to the plate.

Wellens, Oakley, Brown, Berner, Howard (if fit).

They should lead by example and the players with something to prove...

Fryatt, N'Guessan, Dyer, Hobbs etc should go out there and give it absolutely everything.

It's in games like these where performances will go a long way to determining whether or not they're good enough for Premiership football.

I hope they're not overwhelmed by the occasion.

Give it a real good go and see what happens. If we can get at them from the start, it should rattle Newcastle. Hopefully.

Get Wayne Brown to leave his 'signature' on his foot in the first couple of minutes, we'll see how fit & willing he is to play after that :D

We only need to frustrate them and hold them off for a bit and the :D "Geordie Faithful" :D will be on their backs. Give them an early goal or a nervous start and the pressure's on, come out of the traps full on and closing them down and we'll do okay. I don't think Newcastle are nearly as impressive as their start suggests.

If the goal differences are the same does it not go to goals for, then if they are the same then alphabetical order, im not sure tho. If it is then we need to win by 3 clear goals or win 5-3 or 6-4 to take top spot

I agree with what you're saying here, the crowd could be as much an Achilles heel for Newcastle as an asset. As for them not being as impressive as their start suggests, even Chris Hughton has admitted that it has 'papered over the cracks' over what is a very unsettled club with a thin squad. I can't help thinking some of the players have been playing out of their skins to make them more attractive in the transfer market, and that their form will mysteriously suffer a dip once the transfer window has closed, but that's the cynic in me. :D

Yeah you're right. WBA would still take it.

I'd be very, very pleasantly surprised if we were top come final whistle.
