Ticket Initiatives

I'm not trying to start abig debate on the merits or otherwise for ST holders but I'm not sure wants in this for them unless you're under 12 :dunno:

There may be an international weekend on the horizon, but anticipation is building towards the return of Nigel Pearson's men to the Walkers Stadium.

Monday's defeat at St. James' Park against Newcastle United hasn't dampened the spirit of City supporters, as they snap up seats for the crucial clashes against Blackpool on Saturday September 12th and Peterborough on Tuesday September 15th.

This also starts a month of ticketing initiatives, aimed at rewarding the fans that have backed the club's return to the Coca-Cola Championship. The offers extend to both season-ticket holders and non-season-ticket holders.

Supporters buying tickets for the Blackpool game will receive a £5 discount voucher for the Peterborough United game when they purchase from the main ticket office. Supporters who have already purchased tickets can claim their discount voucher on the production of their Blackpool ticket.

The club have also decided to trial a FREE upgrade for any under 12 season tickets for their first Tuesday night game against Peterborough United on September 15th. With the new school term starting this week, many younger supporters may not be in a position to attend midweek games and therefore the Free upgrade was worthy of a trial.

A City spokesperson said: "We understand that with the new school term, many of our younger supporters with under 12 season tickets may not be in a position to attend the Peterborough United game."

They added: "Rather than seeing these tickets go to waste, we want to help encourage as many City fans to attend the game. Parents who normally attend with under 12's can organise a FREE upgrade of their under 12 season ticket. If the trial is deemed successful, the club will consider extending the FREE upgrades to all Tuesday night games during school term."

Season Ticket Holders looking to upgrade an under 8 or under 12 season ticket are strongly advised to contact the Ticket Office in advance of the day of the game.

Upgrade, wtf are they on about :crylaugh:

The club may as well not have bothered, not many non-STH will be able to afford or even willing to go to two games in quick succession like this, especially given the small club opposition. And as you say DavieG, there is even less incentive for STH, I just don't see a point to this.

Well, I would guess that if you've forked out for a ST for your under 12, and don't want to take them to a midweek game, then you can at least offer the ticket now to a mate at no extra charge. Ok, so the mate is the actual beneficiary, but I would say that someone who has paid for a ST might feel better if the ticket doesn't go to waste, even if you had factored this into the equation when buying the ticket.

Exactly and I think its a good idea personally. I had an u12 ST last season and would have been grateful for this opportunity but sadly dont have it this season as I have an U18 one

Who is the semi-literate gimp writing this gash?

For once I agree with something you and Maddog has earlier said in this thread.

Some of the mistakes on the city website and the emails are a joke.

It cant be that hard to check things a couple of time before you post them for the whole world to see.

I reckon anyone could get a job in the city administrative department.

Can't criticise the club for this, I know a few people who will definitely benefit from the free upgrade.

Shame they can't do it for all the games else I would have bought an under-12 ST. :P

I understand it now, but they maybe could have been clearer on what an upgrade actually was, but a good initiative. some people will knock the club no matter what they do!!

Yeah the club could have definitely been clearer on what an upgrade was. Could have meant an upgrade to the West Stand, or an upgrade to the boxes...

It may seem like a rubbish idea.

But i'll welcome any idea or attempt from the club to get more people into the ground.

There will be some people who benefit from this offer, and even if it leads to 500 more people at the game, it's a job well done.

Did anyone know we're adopting Derby's policy of offering cheaper tickets to local companies? 40% off for all council workers for the Blackpool game.

Yes, i did, NHS staff get discounts for many of the less attractive games, plus, cus it's my birthday soon, i'm also offered discounted tickets!! At the end of the day the club want to get as many people in the ground as possible!!!

Anybody fancy a discounted ticket and fancy buying me a beer, let me know!!

Yes, certainly confused me.

It seems like a good plan, at least the seats probably won't be empty now.

Forget ticket initiatives, the ticket office should first start answering their bloody phones. The phone line is an absolute joke. Numerous times last season I tried calling them to buy tickets but every time I had to give up and email them instead, because I was on hold for so long. Admittedly, some of those times was for the most popular games (e.g. MK Dons), but still.

And this morning I have tried to call the ticket office 4 times to buy a Watford ticket. I ended up being on hold every time for ages even though there is absolutely no chance that it would be that busy on a Saturday morning of an away game. In the end I just gave up and emailed them, and surprise surprise they called me back within 2 minutes. Unfortunately I missed the call and when I called them back, I ended up being on hold again. I've now given up on getting a ticket thanks to their pathetic service.

Must admit when I rang for my Newcastle tickets, I held for approx 25 minutes then it started to ring, I waited patiently for an operator then I got a recorded message telling me that the call would be terminated. I rang back and waited 15 minutes before Jim answered. Its always Jim who answers and the poor bloke could do with some help!!

Its hard to staff I guess but it would be helpful if they had some sort of update system on the phones, even if it was to say that I was 273 in the queue and the hold time was 40 minutes....
