AjcW Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Sunday, September 13 at 9PM ET Hosted by: Russell Brand Location: New York, NY After a number of years out wandering around the country, the MTV Video Music Awards are coming home to New York! Mark your calendars, because the retaking of Manhattan will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2009, and mark these words: this city will never be the same again. Call it a takeover, if you will, because the 2009 VMAs will have performances staged all over Manhattan including in the storied Radio City Music Hall where we popped our Moonman cherry way back in 1984. After that one, we were surprised they'd have us back, but they did. So did New York City. In fact, 2009 will mark the 14th time that Gotham will serve as the backdrop for the VMAs. Our VMA homecoming also marks the return of Russell Brand, who will host the show for a second year in a row. That's right. The same Russell Brand who pulled an unwitting Britney Spears into a golf cart after her third VMA win and whisked her away to watch Kanye West in the final performance of the night. Brand also managed to freak out Jonas Brothers fans everywhere when he got all sorts of nasty discussing the Jo Bros' purity rings. He's funny. And no homecoming would be complete without a couple of New York City's hometown heroes providing the soundtrack for the VMA's triumphant return. So we added critically acclaimed rapper Jay-Z and international pop phenom Lady Gaga to our impressive list of performers. Brooklyn-born Jay, who is also a Best Male and Best Hip-Hop nominee for "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)," will perform a song from his highly anticipated album The Blueprint 3. Meanwhile, nine-time nominated, NYC native Lady Gaga is sure to bring the energy to the VMA stage. Gaga will deliver a single from her multi-platinum debut album, The Fame, in another one of her famous over-the-top live performances. We're even more excited to see what outrageous fashion creation she'll be wearing. Not that it matters. The crowd will go crazy for Miss Gaga - pants or no pants. And if you think viewers will get hyped for Lady Gaga, just wait until Sasha Fierce takes the stage. That's right, Beyoncé Knowles will be joining hubby Jay-Z on the performers list. She'll be singing "Sweet Dreams" from her album I Am…Sasha Fierce, but we doubt anyone will be less than wide awake during her surefire showstopping performance. You already know Green Day, P!nk, Taylor Swift and Muse are lined up to rock the VMA stage. Now, rapper Wale and legendary go-go band UCB have been tapped as the show's official house band. He'll be collaborating throughout the night with artists like The All-American Rejects, Pitbull and 3OH!3 to put his unique spin on the biggest songs of the year. Whew! That's a lot of star power. But don't let the excitement over the performances eclipse the Moonmen! After all, the awards are the reason for this yearly extravaganza. This year we will be handing out statues for classic categories like Best Female Video and Video of the Year. We also threw some new categories into the nominee mix like Best Breakthrough Video and Best Video (That Should Have Won A Moonman). Voting is closed for all categories except Best New Artist, which you can keep voting for even after the ceremony starts. You see, the MTV Video Music Awards is nothing short of the most musically driven, celebrity-packed, insanely thrilling and, ultimately, the most-talked about awards show on television. Hands down. You can't beat this one. People have tried, but they've failed miserably. There's a reason this is the party to attend, no matter where we throw it. It's flat out awesome. Was brilliant last year. Should be the same this year really... good old bookywook brand presenting the show. Will post the nominees and categories in a second.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Kanye west what a disabled!link I was just reading about that. I'm sure Beyonce's video was great, Kanye, but you really need a sense of perspective here, and maybe to take a little look at yourself while you're at it. I'm sure Kanye will read this

Head Honcho Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Seen it earlier, what a guy. Very classy What a guy? What a bully more like!
Samilktray Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 The world needs more characters like Kanye West.
lildave3 Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 What happened exactly? Can't find anything on youtube...
Samilktray Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 What happened exactly? Can't find anything on youtube... Taylor Swift won, Kanye wasnt happy, walked on stage, said well done to Taylor Swift but also said that Beyonce should of won cus she had 1 of the best videos of all time., Taylor Swifts video is pretty poor though, having said that Eminem won best video for We Made You and thats hardly a work of art. MTV awards are never reknowned for having the best artists in each category winning but what can you do, at least people like Kanye speak there mind on the matter, be a boring world if everyone just agreed with everything.
Matt Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I actually liked and respected Kanye, but what a cock?!
Webbo Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 I'm sure Kanye will read this I think he posts on Waccoe.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 September 2009 Posted 14 September 2009 Kanye West is a dick. I do like his music, but I remember him getting a sore vagina about Justice winning an award for the D.A.N.C.E video a few years ago and threw another pathetic little spastic fit. He should concentrate on making more decent music and not on being a complete cum ring.
