Simo86 Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I know its 9 months away but just thought i'd ask what everyone thought. There could be a few surprises or it may just be the usual tried and tested players. At this current time my 23 man squad would be: GK- James, Green, Foster DEF- Johnson, Richards (providing he keeps playing well at rb for man city), A.Cole, Bridge, Terry, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott MID- Walcott, Lennon, Milner, Young, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Carrick FOR- Rooney, Defoe, Heskey, Crouch
Guest Bilo Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Scotland 2010 World Cup squad Yeah, I know I'm evil but I just couldn't resist.
Tommeh Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Swap Joey Cole for Young and I'd pretty much agree. Anyone in this thread includes Stuart Downing and I'm off to Talking Balls.
General Smuts Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 GK- Hart, Green, James DEF- Johnson, Richards, A.Cole, Bridge, Terry, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott MID- Walcott, Lennon, J.Cole, Young, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Carrick FOR- Rooney, Defoe, Heskey, C.Cole
Guest Bilo Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I'd go with: GK- Foster, Green, James DEF- Johnson, Richards, A.Cole, Bridge, Terry ©, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott MID- Walcott, Lennon, J.Cole, Young, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Beckham (for the experience he'd bring to the squad) FOR- Rooney, Defoe, Heskey, Agbonlahor
Edmund Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Matty Fryatt over Rooney any day of the week.
James. Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Anyone in this thread includes Stuart Downing and I'm off to Talking Balls. Same applies if any fucker drops Heskey.
Simo86 Posted 11 September 2009 Author Posted 11 September 2009 Swap Joey Cole for Young and I'd pretty much agree.Anyone in this thread includes Stuart Downing and I'm off to Talking Balls. I did think about Joe Cole but it all depends on whether he can get fit, back in the chelsea side and playing well before Jan/Feb time. Otherwise he'll have a very short space of time to impress Capello. I also think Woodgate or King could get in the squad depending on fitness and form in place of Lescott or Upson.
Soar Fox Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 GK- James, Robinson, Green DF- Johnson, Richards, Bridge, A.Cole, Lescott, Terry, Upson, Ferdinand MF- Walcott, Hargreaves (If fit), Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, J.Cole, Barry, Carrick ST- Rooney, Heskey, Defoe, D.Bent
Joe. Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 At the moment (this isn't likely to change a great deal anyway): Foster; Green; James Terry; Ferdinand; Upson; Lescott; A.Cole; Johnson; Bridge; Richards Gerrard; Lampard; Barry; Lennon; Walcott; J.Cole; Milner; Young Rooney; Heskey; Defoe; Crouch
Tommy G Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 GK: James--Foster--Green DEF: Johnson--Brown--Terry--Rio--Upson--Bridge--Cole MID: Beckham--Gerrard--Scholes--Lampard--Walcott--Young--Carrick--Joe Cole--Lennon ATT: Rooney--Defoe--Crouch--Owen
Tommeh Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Ahhh forgot Becks, he has to go in my opinion. Been there and done it in 5 previous major tournments and still the best dead ball player, crosser and one if the best passers around. In for Milner from what I agreed with previously. Cannot for the life of me seeing Young, Agbonlamumsahore or Milner doing too much.
Joe. Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Tommy G what's the point of Scholes when you know full well that he won't play?
James. Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Anyone in this thread includes Stuart Downing and I'm off to Talking Balls. Same applies if any fucker drops Heskey. ATT: Rooney--Defoe--Crouch--Owen
StanSP Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 How the fuck does Bridge get into the squad? He's fucking shit.
Tommy G Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Tommy G what's the point of Scholes when you know full well that he won't play? I'm hoping and praying he will come out of retirement. he shit's on lampard for his creativity!
RowlattsFox Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 The wingers are actually difficult to choose, will all depend on who's on form towards the end of the season. At the minute it wud be Lennon, SWP, Milner and Young but hopefully Joe Cole will be fit and performing well and I would put him in instead of Young, I actually like Milner more than Young. Foster, James, Green Johnson, Brown, Terry, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott, Cole Lennon, SWP, Carrick, Barry, Lampard, Beckham, Gerrard, Milner, Young Rooney, Heskey, Defoe, Cole/Crouch/Owen/Agbonlahor Bridge misses out because Lescott can play left back if needs be and it allows us to bring Beckham without sacrificng a winger.
dogadug Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 I think that Mattock's going to have a blinder for WBA this season, and earn a spot in the squad.
Simo86 Posted 11 September 2009 Author Posted 11 September 2009 I'm hoping and praying he will come out of retirement. he shit's on lampard for his creativity! He might of done 5 years ago but i have to disagree these days. He will hardly play for United so he wouldn't get picked even if he hadn't retired.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 GK; Green, Robinson DF; Brown, Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, Upson, A Cole, Bridge MF; Lennon, Wright-Phillips, Carrick, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, J Cole, Milner, A Young FW; Crouch, Rooney, Defoe, Heskey, C Cole Bit heavily weighted towards the midfield but at this minute I'd go with that...................with Heskey hanging on to his place by the skin of his teeth.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Don't know how anybody can give David James a place in our world cup squad, he has been appalling since harry redknapp and his coaching staff left for spurs, its been quite sad to see his demise between the sticks actually
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 GK- Green,J ames, Robinson DEF- Johnson, Richards , A.Cole, Baines (he can take penos and hes better than Cole), Terry, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott MID- Walcott, Lennon, Milner, Young, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Carrick FOR- Rooney, Defoe, Heskey, Crouch

Bryn Posted 11 September 2009 Posted 11 September 2009 Goalkeepers - Rob Green, Paul Robinson, Ben Foster Defenders - Glen Johnson, Micah Richards, Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Phil Jagielka, Ledley King Midfielders - Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Michael Carrick, Gareth Barry, Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott, Joe Cole, Ashley Young Strikers - Wayne Rooney, Emile Heskey, Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch At this moment in time (+ Joe Cole). They ought to have a stab at getting that fanny Carragher out of retirement, not that he deserves it for turning his back on the country
