lou Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Anyone just see the state of the pitch at Ashton Gate Yep, was just gonna post same.... what a mess!
JimmyK Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 That Gunnarsson guy's crosses were amazingly precise. I have to say, I don't think that penalty decision was correct, and Liverpool's shout in extra time was more of a pen than the one that was given. But it's not like they had no time to kill off this tie over two legs, so they don't get much sympathy from me. God almighty they just can't break anyone down, even with Torres and Gerrard they don't seem that good at it. Though every now and again they put together an exceptionally classy passing maneuver, but when that breaks down, no more sustained pressure from them for about half an hour. My abiding memory of this will be that Reading fan they caught on camera leaving at about 85 mins, a lesson there about staying until the end though admittedly I don't really envy anyone having to travel back by car.

Why does everyone seem to assume he was off? Could've been going for a slash.

Clearly hit his chest. Was never a penalty in a million years.
Shrenchel Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Scouse children crying. Is there anything more erotic? It's a close second though.

JimmyK Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Why does everyone seem to assume he was off?Could've been going for a slash. I suppose so, a lesson in not going for a whizz before the game is over then Clearly hit his chest. Was never a penalty in a million years. Not that one, the one where a Reading defender clearly held down one of the Liverpool players (was it Aquilani? can't remember) as he tried to jump for a header inside their penalty area. Admittedly it wasn't really obvious that it had happened until the replay.

As I saw it Liverpool didn't earn themselves or deserve any luck, the Reading pen was soft, but so would that one if it had been given. Reading played extremely well and the caretaker manager out thought Rafa and was tactically better. They thoroughly deserved the win, and deserved the penno.

Just I'd rather have seen McAnuff finish off that brilliant move or Church scoring from Gunnarson's pin-point cross than Reading eventually scoring through a very soft pen.

The liverpool defender kicked his ankle. Yes he made a meal of it but it's still a foul and therefore a penalty.
Matt Posted 14 January 2010 Author Posted 14 January 2010 what? The liverpool defender kicked his ankle. Yes he made a meal of it but it's still a foul and therefore a penalty. Simulation is also a foul though. 2 wrong's don't make a right. I'm not complaining, I'm delighted to see Liverpool out.
