Aixelsyd Posted 3 November 2009 Posted 3 November 2009 surely we won 4-1 last time we played them and bsteve Howard got va hat trick which says it all remember they were down to 10 mens as Luke Moore was sent off in the 1st half Looks like both teams have only 3 or 4 player left in their squads from that day
maddog Posted 4 November 2009 Author Posted 4 November 2009 Heres the side that we started with last time we played the Baggies at the Walkers. Fulop, Stearman, Kisnorbo, Mcauley, Mattock, Kenton, Wesolowski (King 41), Clemence, Ashley Chambers (Hayes 60), Hume, Cort Subs not used: N'Gotty, Sheehan, Odihambo We used to have a real crock of shit 2 years ago didn't we None of them apart from King will figure for us Saturday. And 13 of those names have left the club. This is how far we've come.
Shane Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I actually think Mattock will score an own goal. And am not joking, I can feel it Anyway, games going to be tight.. I hope we win.

We had no discernable plan against Reading but were much more organised and energetic against QPR, wonder what we will get. Was the QPR game a masterstoke from Pearson or did it just happen..... :dunno: Absolutely can not wait for saturday..... :scarf:
AjcW Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Why is everyone so sure Joe is even going to play. He has only had four appearances this season
Ford Super Sunday Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Why is everyone so sure Joe is even going to play. He has only had four appearances this season Unless he's injured, Roberto would be stupid to change a team that won 5-0 the week before, and Mattock played last week
Thracian Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 In some ways we seem more vulnerable at home than away these days and have delivered some sloppy dredging-the-drain performances at The Walkers against sit-back-and-counter opposition.I've claimed we can compete with the best and West Brom are that but I don't believe it will be a day when Pearson will be tempted to shed the shackles. He'll try to think it through and my guess is that a point might not be considered so bad. Victory is not impossible of course but we'll have put a lot of effort and concentration into yesterday's achievement and it may be psychologically difficult for us to repeat such a high in two matches running. If Pearson somehow manages it, and consistently fired up performances are what's required of successful teams, then he'll deserve accolades in abundance. Trouble is I hate looking forward to games. It so often precedes disappointment. So I'll predict a 1-1 so that victory would be like an early Christmas present. Fryatt again. But I hope it's Waghorn cos he must have been so frustrated by Friday's offside. PS: I forgot the Mattock factor but with that momentarily in mind, 2-1 to Leicester.
dandannieldanok Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Draw or a narrow defeat I think, our home performances have been quite crap lately and West Brom are the best team so far to play us at home. Hope to be proved wrong.
davieG Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Robbie fires Fryatt warning Posted on: Thu 05 Nov 2009 ROBERTO Di Matteo is hoping in-form Matt Fryatt does not prove to be his nemesis again in Saturday's trip to Leicester (ko 3pm). The 23-year-old striker's nine league goals have helped fire the newly-promoted Foxes up to fourth in the Coca-Cola Championship this term. And Di Matteo is only too aware of his threat from last season when his MK Dons side lost 2-0 to a Fryatt double at the Walkers Stadium and he opened the scoring in a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture. The Hawthorns chief also admits his Albion team will face a stern test against a City side who are unbeaten in six games under the management of former Baggies assistant boss Nigel Pearson. "They've had a good start and they are a good team," said Di Matteo. "I watched them down at Loftus Road and was very impressed with them. "I knew them from before but they've added some experience, they are solid and a good side. "Nigel's changed a few players, but not many. "He's got Wayne Brown in there, Bruno Berner was there last year, Ritchie Wellens played last year, and Dany N'Guessan is there now. "Fryatt scored against us last season. "He seems to have a goalscoring touch. "He's scored quite a few and has the sniff for a goal." Leicester are just one point behind second-placed Albion in the table and, with only six points separating the top ten a third of the way through the season, Di Matteo is expecting the promotion chase to go down to the wire. "You hope to pull away but I don't think any team will do that," he added. "It's so balanced and narrow that it will probably go down to the last few or couple of games. "Nobody has the strength to pull away. "There are so many good teams in this division, as you see every weekend with the results. "It shows how difficult it is to get three points and how balanced it is.
Bluefoxtim Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 "He's got Wayne Brown in there, Bruno Berner was there last year, Ritchie Wellens played last year, and Dany N'Guessan is there now. I at that, but then assumed he meant had been playing in the Championship? That or he's just thick.
Dr The Singh Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 I think west brom will play into our hands, we will be solid and play like we did against qpr!! My uncle from west brom is comming down to this, and I can't understand a word he says because of his brummie\black country accent, so it should be very interesting!!

I believe you are a professional wind up merchant? When are you not going to admit Pearson is the best manager this club has ever had. He is a tatical genius, knows when to change the team, gets his substitutions spot on, week after week. If we are as bad as some of your other posts suggest we are, then why are we fourth in the table? Hey, there must be some crap in this league for that to happen?

suffolk fox Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Somewhat of an exaggeration unless of course you've only been watching LCFC since the Taylor days. For the record I have been watching City since the late 60's....... MON yes, he won us trophies so arguably he was probably the best??? However, he apparently was never seen on the training ground and left all that to Walford and Robertson? Pearson has turned us from being a disorganised, low in confidence, relegated division 1 team with loads of has beens on the books into the team we are today...... So for me bar the trophys that's why I believe he is the best.....my opinion.

Pearson has exceeded expectations so far, and if he continues in this manner he could become our best manager ever, but at the momet he has a long way to go before he can even be entered into a discussion on who is the greatest city manager.
Joe. Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Why is everyone so sure Joe is even going to play. He has only had four appearances this season Eh? He's started every game...
foxaholic Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Somewhat of an exaggeration unless of course you've only been watching LCFC since the Taylor days. Agreed under Matt Gillies we were in the running for the double in the top division and always in the top 10. We all know about Martin and in 1926 we were runners up in the top division and even recently we got promotion and average crowds of 30000 when in administation so although doing well mI afraid Pearson is not in the running.
maddog Posted 5 November 2009 Author Posted 5 November 2009 Pearson isn't even as good as Micky Adams never mind Martin O'Neill! Not yet anyway. Should we go up this season you would have to argue he's better than Adams, and back to back promotions could put him above O'Neil.
maddog Posted 5 November 2009 Author Posted 5 November 2009 Anyway the last time there was an optimeter vote record we played superb at QPR. So surely 167 votes this time and the performance will be even better against West Brom.
maddog Posted 5 November 2009 Author Posted 5 November 2009 West Brom are virtually joint favourites for the title with Newcastle. We could send a serious message to everyone in this division if we beat them, if we do we will be surely considered as serious automatic promotion contenders.
iancognito Posted 5 November 2009 Posted 5 November 2009 Rob Tanner's not happy that we're not happy it seems, according to his pre-match blog entry Don't know about anyone else but I'm happy with how things are and unless you're a City player permanently warming the bench, the bulk of the squad seem happy too. I know Pearson isn't the biggest media personality and encouarges his side not to blab too much to the press but I'd take that over the Holloway Soundbite any day of the week. West Brom haven't been in the best goal scoring form up till last week, so we've every reason to be confident going into this one.
