maddog Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Wow, wow wow. This has to be the best home game of the season so far, 2 top sides in battle, both will surely be competing for the playoff/promotion places come the end of the season. West Brom are not in form at all, they've just won 5-0 at home to Watford BUT drew 0-0 at Coventry and lost at home to Swansea in the two games previous. While we have 3 wins on the spin, and if we can play like we did at QPR in this game, we are going to win, no doubt. Goals. That is what West Brom do, amazingly they've scored 29 goals in the League this season, and conceded only 13. Only Cardiff have scored more with 30 goals so far. We have only scored 18 League goals. But conceded 12. So the Baggies have only conceded 1 more than us, but have scored 11 more, yet only lead us currently by just 1 point, amazing. This is big, really big, the simple fact is that, if we can somehow win these next 2 home games, we are going to be very high up in the table. This could be fantastic, i'm sure the attendence will be fairly high after the stunning performance at QPR, added with the fact it is a local Midlands derby, plus they are going to be up there somewhere come the end of the season, hopefully just below us. We pursued Simon Cox for a long time, most wanted him, he scored West Brom's 5th in their 5-0 romping of Watford, BUT hasn't been a big hit in the Championship just yet. And Joe Mattock. A shit shit left back compared with Bruno Berner, could be back at the Walkers to some boos and Mattock, WHATS THE SCORE! Chris Brunt, Jerome Thomas, Bednar, dangerous. Dany N'Guessan, Matty Fryatt. Richie Wellens, Martyn Waghorn, dangerous. Both sides have tough defences, Baggies can score goals, this could be very interesting. Pearson is a God, he will know exactly what to do, the question is, can the players replicate their stunning QPR performance The answer is......... Who knows. What i do know is, we are going to win our 4th Championship game running, 2-0, Fryatt and Waghorn scoring
Budweiser Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 They are a very good side but I think we will get a hard earned draw, or even sneak a win. But im going for a 1-1. Steve will come on and score.

Thracian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 In some ways we seem more vulnerable at home than away these days and have delivered some sloppy dredging-the-drain performances at The Walkers against sit-back-and-counter opposition. I've claimed we can compete with the best and West Brom are that but I don't believe it will be a day when Pearson will be tempted to shed the shackles. He'll try to think it through and my guess is that a point might not be considered so bad. Victory is not impossible of course but we'll have put a lot of effort and concentration into yesterday's achievement and it may be psychologically difficult for us to repeat such a high in two matches running. If Pearson somehow manages it, and consistently fired up performances are what's required of successful teams, then he'll deserve accolades in abundance. Trouble is I hate looking forward to games. It so often precedes disappointment. So I'll predict a 1-1 so that victory would be like an early Christmas present. Fryatt again. But I hope it's Waghorn cos he must have been so frustrated by Friday's offside.
Corky Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 They'll come and attack from the off, so that should suit us better. Will be very tough but they won't find it easy either, close one to call. Win, 2-1.
CKB Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I may just write us off and say we will lose! i said the same about the QPR game and we won and put in a great performance!
samjohnson Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Mattock gets confused 1/2 way through the first half and sticks the ball in his own net from a corner... Everybody laughs at him... Then Gallagher finishes them off with a 30 yard screamer. So a 2-0 win to keep the momentum going
MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Magic word: Counter attack? Two options: a) Frustrate the hell out of the WBA strikeforce by playing steady defense (just like against QPR), then proceed to walk over them with quick passes b) Match their strength in attacking by playing a risky, open game As odd as it may sound, I can see this being a high-scoring game regardless of the tactical choice. Would love to do us one over West Brom. 3-2 Leicester.
Guest Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 knackers to it.. 4-0 That's the spirit JTF I forsee a 3-2 win to City, with Waggy, Fryatt and Gally scoring. The latter being another 30 yard floated shot over the keeper. He tried it again last night which I'd completely forgotten about until now
Captain... Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I think West Brom will attack us from the off and we will start off too cautious, we'll probably concede in the first half and then an inspired NP substition will salvage a credible draw.
Father Ted Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Should be a good game. Give Mattock a booing. 'YOU AIN'T NO LEICESTER FAN, YOU AIN'T NO LEICESTER FAN!' West Brom weren't doing too well before today, we could hammer 'em if we play like Friday night.
Bryn Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 At home and we always step it up against the big boys, 2-1 Leicester.
deepbluedevil Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 We are in good form, but WBA are the best team in the division IMO lose 0-2
Koke Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 This could go either way. Such is the openness and unpredictability of this league. Realistically I'd go for a draw. One each.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 3-1 Baggies I'm afraid. Their squad frightens me.
Flynny Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 1-1. We do well against West Brom at home. Time after time they've come to the Walkers with a squad better than ours on paper and with us shitting ourselves and we've been okay. 1-1 draw against a decent side a couple of seasons back and 4-0 against 10 men the season after. We've shown we can frustrate attacking teams and punish them if they're sloppy. On the other hand, Di Matteo should know more about us than any other manager in this league and will be aware of our own strengths. Now we're third we'll be picked apart and taken far more seriously before games. I think we'll play promisingly again but ultimately cancel each other out. Perhaps a 2-1 win if one team scores a wondergoal or makes an awful mistake.
PAULCFC Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 I'd start with stevie in this match(hattrick when we played them last time.)Then when he's knackered bring on Waghorn to quicken it up a bit :chant:3 1 city
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Just watched the WBA v Watford game on the TV. Even though they won 5-0, most of the goals came from shambolic defending. I doubt we'll give them such freedom to score at our place. They didn't look particularly threatening so if they decide to come at us, which I suspect they will, we will beat them. If they come for a draw though, we'll struggle to break them down. It depends on how they approach the game as to what the result will be. We won't lose though.
Fox92 Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 We have this tendancy to play better away from home than we do at home. 2-2 draw.
