Father Ted Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Glad to see Hart being given another go. Although goalkeepers should be: Number 1: Kirkland Number 2: Weale Number 3: Green Glad to see Huddlestone in there. Matt Taylor should be called up though and Kevin Davies or James Beattie when Heskey/C.Cole are out.
Simi Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Matt Taylor should be called up though and Kevin Davies or James Beattie when Heskey/C.Cole are out. No, no and no. IMO.
purpleronnie Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 What a stupid place to play a friendly in a country with no relevance to the two playing. Yeah, I wonder why they chose to go there?. mmmmm let me think.
Bert Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 At least we might be able to see what other players can do. I'd love to see Young and Milner start on the wings. No doubt Shaun Shite Phillips will start.
Edmund Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Yeah, I wonder why they chose to go there?.mmmmm let me think. Well do you care to elaborate then?
Edmund Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Obviously that was my first thoughts but still seems an odd place to play a fixture but reading Ian c's comments it seems it's more on behalf of Brazil's F.A and selling rights. Either way it will be another 90 minute passionless bore fest. Much more interested in the ROI Vs France match.

Shrenchel Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Brazil played the first game at the new Wembley on the condition England would play a friendly at later date in a location chosen by Brazil, even if it was one of their ridiculous money spinning ventures. I don't think the FA would have agreed to it if it wasn't for that.
Edmund Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Cheers Jhest, nice to know someone noticed my post anyway Yeah I only saw it after I posted my initial post or I wouldn't have bothered asking. It makes perfect sense as I know in the Middle East they have a huge South American following with there leagues full of ex South American legends. Brazil played the first game at the new Wembley on the condition England would play a friendly at later date in a location chosen by Brazil, even if it was one of their ridiculous money spinning ventures. I don't think the FA would have agreed to it if it wasn't for that. It rings a bell, I vaguely remember hearing something along those lines.
BoneDog Posted 10 November 2009 Posted 10 November 2009 Much more interested in the ROI Vs France match. Me too. Really looking forward to that one. Are they both 3pm kick offs?
Edmund Posted 10 November 2009 Posted 10 November 2009 Me too. Really looking forward to that one.Are they both 3pm kick offs? Not sure about the England match but ROI Vs France is on at 8pm I do believe.

Uncle Albert Posted 10 November 2009 Posted 10 November 2009 Really hope ROI can get a good result heading into France.
Joe. Posted 10 November 2009 Posted 10 November 2009 Really hope ROI can get a good result heading into France. Yeah I'd love for them to stick two fingers up at FIFA by getting through. Think they'll get a draw at home on Saturday then go down 1-0 in France unfortunately though.
TrickyTrev Posted 10 November 2009 Posted 10 November 2009 Paul Robinson is a usually reliable keeper who, apart from one very bad period in his career, makes far less mistakes than the average goalie. His athleticism is however nowhere near the standard of an international keeper, its unbelievable how often he gets beaten by long shots, and manages to make efforts not right in the corner look unstoppable. I'm quite looking forward to the England game, will be interesting to see us against a good team with most of our best players on display. Will give us an idea as to where we at. The game I really want to catch however is Portugal v Bosnia, anyone know if it is on tv?
The Doctor Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 Really hope ROI can get a good result heading into France. France are BS now anyway. they've been on the slide since zidane retired. the main proof of this the fact that since he left the french have been screwed over by scotland and serbia neither of whom are what you would call european giants and both of whom are on a par with ROI.
Tevez Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 Quite a few bit part players there.. I think Capello has based it on form, the obvious (choices Terry etc) and players who will cope in similar climate to SA.
StanSP Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 Glen Johnson has also now pulled out <_< And Luke YOung's retired from International football

Not really based it on form, the players selected are in because of key injuries, some of them wouldnt get a look in if players werent 'injured'. Glen Johnson has also now pulled out <_< Said to my mate yesterday that he would pull, in fairness he has just recovered from a calf injury just like Gerrard hasnt gone and he is coming back from a groin injury.
Samilktray Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 Hope D Bent bags, then we can do away with Crouch in an England shirt forever.
lcfc_jme Posted 11 November 2009 Posted 11 November 2009 2nd rate game anyway, hope England lose. Heavily.
