Draw written all over it. Good chance to see us compete against the top sides

Why Qatar? Is this some sort of conditioning thing in preperation for South Africa or is this money in football again?

Not a clue, but I'm looking forward to watching it and seeing the stadium as it has probably changed no end since I used to go to it to watch the Qatari national team play in the WC98 qualifiers 12 years ago when I lived in Doha.

It used to not have seats, just basically some staired concrete with loads of empty nut shells littered everywhere!

Lampard now out, going to be hardly any senior players. Gives other players the chance to shine though I suppose. Like in Germany last year. Would have been perfect for Beckham to play 90 minutes really, so a shame he isn't involved anymore.

To be honest though, he will probably be in the World Cup squad regardless. As this football blog mentioning the World Cup points out, he is still one of the best in the world in terms of dead ball situations. This, combined with his experience, should see him through - agreed?

Sadly can't see anything but a Brazil victory here, so many pull-outs and injuries meaning we only have perhaps 2 of our normal starting 11 in Gareth Barry and Wayne Rooney, we'll do well to hold them.

However this is a massive opportunity for those taking their place to stake a claim for the finals next year! i for one can't wait! :scarf::beer:

Whats the problem with it being played in Qatar? :dunno:

it's just a friendly so why not, could only help with our World cup bid with us touring the globe and trying get some votes in the process

At least the squad haven't had to travel all the way to Brazil - Qatar is only 6 or 7 hours by flight.

Brazil will have a field day against that team.

worryingly poor on paper isn't it?! That said i've just seen the Brazil line-up and recognized half the team at most. Very few of the big names in for them so could be close..

edit - i read a line-up on the Guardian's minute by minute that has no resembelance to their starting XI (maybe a subtle joke that went right over my head!)

Rooney just called the ref a 'fooking cheat'

That was a blatant body check on Rooney though, so I can't blame him. ;)

It was but I reckon incompetent rather than cheat would be more appropriate.

The shooting by both teams is horrendous.

Cue spectacular long range goal :P

England's defenders are just like watching Leicester - hoof it anywhere.

I think Bent's only touched the ball once

The 1st team really have no worries about keeping their places.

Is Brown any better than Neilson :P

lol

Wesley Brown got nowt on Neilsen. What a diabolical chest down that was. Equally shocking penalty by Luis Fabiano.

I feel sorry for Darren Bent. He got fuck all service all day. Isolated for much of the game. He will not get another chance on the back of this game. Very unfair on Bent.

Edit: Jermaine Jenas. Deary me. >_<
