StanSP Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 England squad:Not sure why Ashley Cole is not in there? But Darren Bent is included and Emile Heskey dropped. The game will be played in Qatar. Bridge starting at left back I presume Surprised about Warnock's inclusion. Does this squad get cut down or is this the full squad they're taking to Qatar?
Koke Posted 9 November 2009 Author Posted 9 November 2009 Fabio Capello has named Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock, Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone and Sunderland striker Darren Bent in the England squad for the upcoming friendly against Brazil.England take on the five-time world champions on Saturday November 14 in Doha in Qatar and Capello has named several fresh faces in a squad shorn of Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Aaron Lennon, David James, Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole. However, there is no place for Manchester United striker Michael Owen. Warnock's international career extends to an eight-minute substitute appearance in Trinidad last year, while Huddlestone is still to make his senior debut. Bent has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals, but international recognition had proved elusive. The Sunderland striker has not scored in any of his previous four senior appearances for England. The 24-man squad for the match will reduce by one if Los Angeles Galaxy maintain their interest in the MLS play-offs by beating Chivas USA on Sunday night as David Beckham would be forced to withdraw. Ashley Cole somehow withdrew through injury. Allegedly.
Raj Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Is this another non event friendly disrupted our football weekend??? BOLLOX!
Uncle Albert Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Is this another non event friendly disrupted our football weekend??? BOLLOX! Not really because if we didnt have a friendly then we still had an International weekend because of the World Cup qualifiers.
Raj Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Not really because if we didnt have a friendly then we still had an International weekend because of the World Cup qualifiers. Oh alright then. Who would we have involved then?

Jimothy Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Really can't understand the inclusion of Foster ahead of James, Robinson and Kirkland.
purpleronnie Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Really can't understand the inclusion of Foster ahead of James, Robinson and Kirkland. Me neither but its much of a muchness.
TrickyTrev Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Me neither but its much of a muchness. I think James is done, can't train in the week apparently. Paul Robinson is awful.
Finnegan Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Why Qatar? Is this some sort of conditioning thing in preperation for South Africa or is this money in football again?
StanSP Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Why Qatar? Is this some sort of conditioning thing in preperation for South Africa or is this money in football again? Think you know the answer
Jimothy Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Don't think it is much of a muchness though. James might be done, but Robinson and Kirkland have been in decent form, whilst Foster has been shocking. His decision making is terrible and his taking of crosses is woeful. The others might not be top class, but they are all better than Foster. Plus Foster is 27 he should be the finished article by now, not a potentially good keeper. I'd rather see Almunia in the squad to be honest.
lildave3 Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Tom Huddlestone And Heskey is injured isn't he?
Ford Super Sunday Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 It's a combo of things I think Firstly, we're desperate to get votes for the 2018 world cup, and a glamour game with Brazil in the middle east will be very welcome by that region of the world. However, I think it's mainly to do with the fact that Brazil and Argentina have their friendlies organised by companies, rather than their respective FAs. They sell them to these companies for shit loads and they recoup everything else. Remember when we beat Argentina in Switzerland, same kind of thing, just further away. Oh well, at least it win't any of our players
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Pleased Huddlestone is in he is playing well.
sdb Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Really can't understand the inclusion of Foster ahead of James, Robinson and Kirkland. Paul Robinson is the worst keeper in the Prem. I'm 100% certain on that. The other 2 should be in thoguh.
Koke Posted 9 November 2009 Author Posted 9 November 2009 Paul Robinson is the worst keeper in the Prem. I'm 100% certain on that. The other 2 should be in thoguh. He's been decent enough ever since he moved to Blackburn - not that I rate him at all. Green and Kirkland should be #1 and #2 respectively.
Samilktray Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Paul Robinson is the worst keeper in the Prem. Not really thought is he.
Edmund Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 The game will be played in Qatar. What a stupid place to play a friendly in a country with no relevance to the two playing.
Tilley Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 James Milner and Darren Bent will have a big part to play next summer.
StanSP Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Robinson isn't as bad as people make out. Still, where the fuck is Weale?
BoneDog Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Robinson isn't as bad as people make out. Still, where the fuck is Weale? Saturdays little setback must of cost him his place!
