ozleicester Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Clearly no one wants to see a club go to the wall, but I think that eventuality is required for the FA and Premier League to sit up and take notice of the mess that the current league structure and Premier League and be in it for 5 minutes and the wrong reason charman's are creating. Wage cap anyone? NOOOO to a wage cap, there are a number of issues that come with it, but first and foremost is that it changes the game from.. a competition to be the best... to an entertainment industry whos job is to provide consistent and close games as a form of entertainment. Go to the movies if you want guaranteed entertainment! wages caps and player drafts (which must come in conjunction with caps) are turning sport into Mcdonalds.

Super_horns Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Lets just hope these men can actually start actin like grown ups and come up with an agreement to to save the club... Thay's if they care about WFC and us fans at all in between their big egos and personal disputes. Daft thing is Lord Ashcroft for example has quite a bit of dosh but clearly is only interested in the ground but would lose a lot if we did enter administration. The Russos would be winners out of such a situation.
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Dunno about Watford but I'd have Darren Ambrose and Victor Moses from Palace.
StanSP Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Dunno about Watford but I'd have Darren Ambrose and Victor Moses from Palace. Do you just copy everyone else?
lou Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Surely Elton can step in? Hes worth Billions! Well he spends more than that on flowers in a year..... <_<
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Do you just copy everyone else? No. I have liked him since his Ipswich days when he scored in that 6-1 defeat at Portmand Road.
Edmund Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 No. I have liked him since his Ipswich days when he scored in that 6-1 defeat at Portmand Road. I'm sure it's already been mentioned numerous times that he wouldn't be able to move in January anyway as he joined on the bosman ruling in the summer. I don't know the ins and outs but I'm just going on what someone else said in another thread.

Super_horns Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Surely Elton can step in? Hes worth Billions! Well he spends more than that on flowers in a year..... <_< The deadline for this loan to be repaid has been extended. Hopefully good news for us...well I hope!
Super_horns Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 Now we're in admin and will lose any players worth a bit of dosh you can probably go and get Tom C back.. One less team for you to worry about as well in the top half.
Bert Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 In that case, he'd go back to Man Utd. Unless she signs permanently, he won't be back here. Sorry to hear you're in Admin.
Finnegan Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Surely Elton can step in? Hes worth Billions! Well he spends more than that on flowers in a year..... <_< I know it sounds really childish but I've kind of been thinking the same thing. If he's as passionate about the club as he's always claimed to be, how could he just sit and watch it all go to shit? If I had the staggering, unimaginable millions that man must be worth I couldn't ever let Leicseter go down the shitter.
Super_horns Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Its a question we've been asking but then maybe Elton is just as hacked off with the current shareholfers as the fans are. Still no administration or resolution..could be going on for days.
Edmund Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Come on Finnegan you can't expect one man to back his hard earned cash and blow his fortunes into a football club mismanaged by others who stand to lose nothing. Makes no sense. I feel for the fans of Watford as it's never nice to see any club potentially going under but you have to question whoevers been managing the finances to get the club in the current situation it finds itself in.
Finnegan Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 As I said, I'm well aware it's a very naive attitude and I know administration isn't the end of the world - but if it came to them being on the brink of actually folding and he still did nothing I couldn't really understand that at all. But when you're talking about a man who, while I'm sure most of the myths regarding his expenditure are exaggerated, does have extraordinary wealth and does have a reputation for spending extravagantly - I'd be a bit saddened if he sat and watched his "beloved" club melt away for the sakes of a relative pittance.
Super_horns Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Looks like Mr Ashcroft and Jimmy Russo have finally agreed an offer to pay off the loan thus us avoiding administration which is great news. At least our league position will now be determined by how the team and Malky perfom on the pitch rather than because of some petty bitter dispute. Ofcourse we may well still lose certain players in the January window but at least that will be down to us (maybe we'll cash in on Loach and DeMerit who leaves for free in the summer) It was hard for the Russos as they have saved us from administration a few times and ofcourse as businessmen wanted their money back after being kicked off the board (which most of our fans accepeted) . Also they has asked Lord Ashcroft to help beforehand without any reply. This all started because Aidy Boothroyd and Mark Ashton (both left) and former chairman Graham Simpson decided to gamble on promotion straight away after relegation by spending large monies on flops such as Ellington and Sadler. We'll probably have our 3 sided ground for a long time still but we'd never fill a new stand anyway...
Fosse Boy Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Heard the news on Five Live. Congrats Super_horns.
