fordy_uk2005 Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 It's hard to pick 2 from 3 of King, Wellens and Oakley because they've all been totally gash lately.Since the end of September, Wellens has been particularly awful. His performance against West Brom was stinking, and even against QPR I felt he was a distant third to Oakley (who I thought was magnificent) and King. In that sense it reminds me a little of Clemence. All promise on arrival, shit by the time the shops started to sell their Christmas goods. on form it has to be oakly and king, wellens is are best player ability wise by a mile but lately hes been are worst performer
Dan Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Totally agree with this Anytime And now for something completely different; (Cue a nice bit of Sousa)---------------Weale---------------- O'Neil---Morrison---Hobbs---Berner ------------King---Wellens----------- ---Dyer---Gallagher---N'Guessan--- -------------Kermorgant------------- Bench Adams to come on as attacking mid should someone fail to do their job Fryatt to support Yanni should we need more fire-power Plus the usual cover. Thats a fair shout, but King defensive mid? No thanks, and Dyer right wing is a horrible thought, swap him and N'Guessan and we could be laughing. Dyer - Out and out winger Most definately not. In January, Pearson has to buy a new centre midfielder, and I don't mean a playmaker, I mean one who is an absolute beast, a strong engine, not scared to make a challenge and put their foot on the ball. Not saying buy someone who can't pass but their a fat 6'6 bloke, but someone like Shaun Derry, someone who will win us the ball. Honestly think that will be the difference between us making the playoffs or not.
SemperEadem Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 ---------------Weale---------------- Neilson---Brown---Hobbs---Berner ------------King---Wellens----------- ---Adams---Kermorgant---Dyer--- -------------Fryatt-------------
Jimmy Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 What he said. Oakley can't play on the right for shit I'm afraid, and he hasn't done much wrong in the middle as captain. that's total bollocks he started there when at Southampton, he has played there many times and spends most if his time in the middle anyway, he is just crap. He started the season in CM alongside Wellens and we got overrun constantly which is Why King came back in. if we had more then 3 cm's available he wouldn't get a look in. If Pearson is too weak to drop an under performing player just because he's captain then you have to question just how far he can go in management. Weale O'Neill Morrison Hobbs PowellAdams King Berner GradelGallagher Fryatt with Waghorn banned that's how I'd line up but I know there is no way it'll happen as it seems the "senior" players are untouchable in Pearson's eyes
Tommeh Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Weale Morrison Brown Hobbs Powell Adams Wellens Berner Dyer Yann Fryatt

Guppy Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Weale Neilson Morrison Hobbs - Due to lack of options, ideally both central defenders would have been rested, but I think Hobbs is more likely to recover from his bad form in time for Saturday. Berner Adams Oakley King Dyer Kermorgant Fryatt Subs - Pentney Brown Powell N'Guessan Gallagher Wellens - Needs a rest, horribly off-form at the minute Howard
fordy_uk2005 Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 WealeMorrison Brown Hobbs Powell Adams Wellens Berner Dyer Yann Fryatt dont you go very often thats a shit team powell? berner middle mid and kermagrant?
Mikey Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 I want: Weale Neilson Morrison Hobbs McGivern Adams/Oakley Berner Wellens Dyer Fryatt Kermorgant Will be: Weale Morrison Brown Hobbs Berner Oakley King Wellens Dyer Fryatt Gallagher
Tommeh Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 dont you go very often thats a shit team powell? berner middle mid and kermagrant? Yes I go every away game and half the home games thanks. Powell is still at his age solid, has been every game he's played for us and would do a job. Berner would serve better balance than Oakley and King have done recently and use the ball better. Kermagrant has impressed me most games he's played and offers more than Howard.

He then had a serious long term injury which slowed him down a tad meaning he was used as a central midfielder for them and then for Derby.
marbelladave Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 wank! A comment, an instruction or (most probably) your next move...
bhav136 Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 I agree with you on the fact he is not untouchable but King was poor last night and even worse at Forest so surely you go with the skipper?Knowing Pearson he will play him out right anyway so our time talking about it is wasted agree oakley was no at his best last night...don't know what it is but he does not seem to push teh players...as a captain he needs to take grip of the team on the pitch.. Oakley needs to be pushed into his natural position ... Whats going on with Nicky adams!!!! the lad needs to be given a good run in...
Guest Bilo Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 that's total bollocks he started there when at Southampton, he has played there many times and spends most if his time in the middle anyway, he is just crap. He left Southampton nearly four years ago and his pace is fading, an absolute must on the wing in my opinion. As for the 'he is just crap' argument, he's been fairly consistent for the best part of the season. He's only really turned to shit when asked to play on the right, the middle is his best position by far. Fair enough he hasn't done much to deserve a place this last month but what have King and Wellens done to warrant one? How long since Berner played in midfield and the wisdom of putting a 40 year old who has already said he doesn't want to play much as he wishes to coach more seems questionable. Oakley at the moment is merely the best of some bad options.
StanSP Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Actually agree with Marbella Dave there on his formation. Would certainly throw other opposition (and probably ourselves )
C-man Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Kermorgant and Fryatt up front. N'Guessan and Lloyd on the wings. Same defence vs Forest. Drop Oakley.

Oakley at the moment is merely the best of some bad options. Our most productive spell came when King was brought back into the middle and Oakley moved out to the right so I'm not sure that adds up. The truth is any combination of 2 from King, Wellens & Oakley in midfield has been proved not strong enough, this whether we're playing with 2 wingers of with Gallagher on the left. Our defence despite early appearances is average for this league, the reason we had this good defensive record is because we had additional emphasis on defence in midfield - but then we cant score. When we put out a more attacking midfield with 1 or 2 wingers then we are exposed defensively. I'd plump for a 451 combo with the 3 mid-fielders and 2 wingers.
Jonezy Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 Now, I'm just a stupid foreigner, who knows nothing, but.... I can't help feeling, that we need to get back to basic. A good old fashioned 4-4-2 with proper wingers and Matty and Stevie upfront: Weale Neilson - Hobbs - Brown - BernerGeezer - Oakley - King - LloydHoward - Fryatt Morrison to step up if Neilson/Hobbs/Brown are not up to the task, Powell to cover Berner, Adams to cover both wings, Wellens to step in, if the other two fails, Gallagher to cover Fryatt and Kermogant to step in, if Howard is still misfiring. No more 3 centre mids and a striker in midfield please.

howsyourfather Posted 9 December 2009 Posted 9 December 2009 I really can't believe people are selecting Andy King for their squads, has no one noticed how he's a lightweight pr~ck who makes no tackles and spends mosts games doing f all, we started the season without him in midfield and it seemed to work fine.
