milan_foxes Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 Somebody put it on football rumours Also putting Brendan Rodgers as our new gaffer <_<
marbelladave Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 Did you not read the interview I posted earlier? Pearson states there is no problem. It seems to be a case of why let the facts get in the way of a good bit of speculation here. Negotiating yourself a better deal on the back of a good 18 months in the job is not a problem, it is just normal. And, of course he is not going to take MM's first offer is he? Like I said just making sure everyone knows he has 'options'.
jonthefox Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 i think np will look at the overall set up of the club and its potential and realise theres no better place to be at this point in his career. i , for one bloody hope so.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 Why are people shaking like shitting dogs over this? Pearson's loyalties were with Wednesday, past tense. As a manager, he's made as much a name for himself here as he did as a player at Wednesday. He's staying.
davieG Posted 24 December 2009 Posted 24 December 2009 From the Merc Leicester City want to give Nigel Pearson a job for life Nigel Pearson has a job for life at Leicester City. Since taking over as manager in June last year, Pearson has transformed the club. City bounced straight back into the Championship after relegation nine months earlier and today occupy a place in the play-off places. Pearson has also been a big hit with the fans, who would love him to extend his contract, which was reported to be for three years. City chief executive Lee Hoos is a great admirer. "I hope Nigel stays here forever," he said. "He's doing a fantastic job, so why would you not want him to stay? "He's brought success and a new attitude to the club. He's a great guy and a fantastic manager. "I'm not going to comment on the kind of contract Nigel has. Reports in the media are way off the mark. "There is talk that it ends next year, but that is completely wide of the mark in the way the contract is structured. It is a very personal thing between Nigel and the club. I don't think he would be discussing it right now, either." The pair previously worked at Southampton together and Hoos knew Pearson was the right man to fill the City hot-seat in the wake of relegation to League One. "Expectations were high last year," said Hoos. "To achieve promotion at the first time of asking was the goal and he met it. "Now we're in the top six, but I don't want to get too carried away because a lot of people at the beginning of the season were looking for consolidation, looking for mid-table. "But Nigel said he thought City would surprise a lot of people, and I think we have. "We need to carry on the impetus we have established over the last 21 games and make sure it continues for the rest of the season. "There are 12 or 13 teams in the play-off mix and we need to be there or thereabouts." Pearson has gone on record as saying he will have to wheel and deal if he wants to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window. "In terms of finance, it depends how things go,'' said Hoos. "Milan (Mandaric) has pumped a ton of money into this club. Some people might say we got some guys in on free transfers or that we only paid this and that for others. But these guys don't work for free. Operating expenses at this place are pretty significant. When you get into a new stadium the costs escalate tremendously. "That's not a problem in the Premiership but, at this level, you need grounds to be 80 to 85 per cent full for matches, otherwise the numbers don't stack up. "Like any other business we have to manage our budget, we can't keep relying on the chairman to constantly pump in money. "Nigel has said that he doesn't expect to have a lot of money available to him, but that situation is no different at 95 per cent of the other clubs in this division."
tartanowl Posted 24 December 2009 Author Posted 24 December 2009 33/1 outsider at the bookies. They are rarely wrong. He would be daft to leave you to come to us considering our prospective league positions. If it was a closer run thing then maybe I wouldn't be so sure. It's a very important appointment for us though and I hope we get a good manager who can instil belief back in the team and turn round our fortunes. We're not a bottom 3 side we're just absolutely bereft of confidence. But they have no money at Sheff Wed so why would he go to a team near the bottom with no money to spend? That should be changing very soon. Money is on the horizon for the club and for upgrades for our World Cup winning bid for Hillsborough.

A decent record with Norwich until things went a bit sour for him at the end. He's also done a good job with Northern Ireland. You could do a lot worse.

Knows what he's doing at this level and in Wednesday's situation. A decent shout.

davieG Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric says manager Nigel Pearson is going nowhere and will sign a new contract. Pearson penned a two-year deal in June 2008 with an option for a third season, but has since been linked with jobs at Burnley and Celtic. Mandaric told BBC Midlands Late Kick Off: "I am not worried about any competition for a lot of reasons. "One of those reasons is Nigel's stability and his word to me that he is not going anywhere." Leicester secured their place in the Championship play-offs with Saturday's win at Preston. "He is well respected and I can't see why Nigel would move anywhere," added Mandaric. "No matter where we end up I want Nigel to stay and he will stay, it's as simple as that. "Nigel has done an outstanding job. He is a good man and as I said the day I first met him, this is our man. "I am in contact with Nigel all the time. We will discuss his long-term contract at the end of the season as we have to focus on every game right now." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/8644588.stm?
ScouseFox Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Didn't ever really think he'd be off anywhere, but still relieved to read that, assuming it's true.
Jimbo Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 Just had news from a foreign land, far, far away that the news channel over there are reporting that Pearson to Celtic is a done deal. Apparently, whether we go up or not, big Nige will be off north of the border and all that's left to be settled is compo. Milan says he wants at least 1.5 million I think they're just making it up personally, stoopid aussies. If that was the case we'd have heard it first surely!!??
