Sheffield Utd Post Match

Absolutely delighted with that result, I don't think there's any doubt that we deserved all three points this evening. Despite a few scares we showed superb character to get through it, and had it not been for Bunn's work we would have won the game very comfortably.

Must admit though, I genuinely feared for us at the start of the second half. A young right back playing at left back, a shaky left back in the middle and Neilson who can be slightly worrying at times. So when they got their goal straight after half-time it was a little uneasy.

That said, I thought our response to their goal was absolutely first rate. It would have been great to see us be more clinical in front of goal, but we got there in the end even if we didn't take the easiest route. Delighted for Lloyd today, Sheffield United just couldn't cope with him. I think we've all been crying out for him to show that kind of confidence for a long, long time.

Great result.

Very happy, Although when we went 2-0 it should have been game over, 2nd half came and it was game on, I thought we we're going to end up drawing.

I though going forward we looked really good and really dangerous when they came forward I was worried though, I'm not sure whether that is down to own young back 4 or whether Sheff Utd were dangerous in attack.

Dyer was amazing, He has to play more games, he just seems to run through people.

Fryatt was good, There were all good.

Glad McGiven is going back in January though - Hope we don't extend his loan.

Well Done City! Now onto Donny, 3 more points please. :fc:

Got a lot of respect for Luke O'Neill tonight.

I thought he did ok considering he was thrown right in at the deep end at half time. Some have said he looked out of his depth, which is true. But 'his depth' is not a championship quality left back up against Sheffield United, but he did very well in the circumstances.

Special mention to Lloyd Dyer as well. Absolutely mesmerising.

I thought O'Neill was massively out of his depth, completely shown up virtually every time by their winger. Out of position too often for me as well.

But he's a very young right back, playing at left back in the Championship. He was never going to have a stunning game, was he?

Loved how much stick we gave to their keeper.

Quality.

And he gave some back, with a couple of gestures, poor old Bunny....biggest willy puller of them all.

Lloyd Dyer take a bow son!

Exactly.

Especially considering the circumstances that we were in.

What a great game.

I loved seeing our fans get under Bunn's skin.

I wasn't so keen of the obvious Sheffield Utd fan in the Upton stand...telling me off for calling Chris Morgan a massive twat. Knob. :/

I thought we showed a good account of ourselves today, regardless of whether it was on Sky or not.

Wasn't an excellent performance, but was good by our standards I think.

Star performers - Morrison, Dyer, Fryatt and Howard.

Weale made a cracking save (can't remember who from), but looked a bit dodgy at a couple of corners.

Still, a great 3 points and just hope most of our players didn't get too knackered for Monday.

Was surprised Pearson didn't make a sub around 70-80mins to be honest.

I got all tingly when the stadium gave Dyer a standing ovation. He had a brilliant game and deserved it, that's the Dyer we've been missing.

When they scored after 40 seconds or whatever I was ****ting it but the makeshift defence held out well overall and did us proud.

Morrison's shot was incredible, it was miles out and was heading for the corner not for an amazing save.

I think Weale's world class save needs a shout out too. How good was that!

Also it was the best game at the Walkers this season, in terms of chances and entertainment. Took a while to get going but after a few tasty tackles it really kicked into gear, end to end football at it's finest.

YESSSS!!!

Just what I predicted. The optimist has been proven right once more and I'm much more looking forward to the Doncaster game now.

Wonderful result. Still 4th halfway through the campaign - and that for a newly-promoted side with limited financial resources. If that ain't something to be proud of, then I just don't get it.

Btw, I missed the game - couldn't follow it online due to some family commitments. But from what I read, we played them off the park in the first half, only to suffer from some scares in the second half. That true?

2-1 against another in-form team. GET IN!!! :scarf:

When they scored I was worried we were looking at a point best case scenario but the boys have really got their minerals back. Great determination and a few bits of right cheeky play. Lloyd is the sex.

What a shot by Morrison! King had a fantastic shot on his weaker foot too!

We deserved to win but I didn't think we were THAT good. That said we're a very well organised side and we had a few star performers. I was very unconvinced by Luke O'Neil and my heart was in my mouth whenever the ball was near him. He was definately thrown straight into the deep end.

On a side note, we let the ball go out just to give posession straight to Sheffield United on 3 seperate occasions. What the hell was that about?

Delighted with the win though and hope for more of the same come Monday!

Forgot to ask what was the argy bargy all about after the final whistle? The ref had to be escorted off by stewards by the look of things.

He had a shite game to be honest.

Left straight after final whistle so didn't see all that.

I didn't think he was too bad tbh. My first thought was that the ref called time too early and the United players got a bit hissy about it. But it'd be interesting to see if it was something else.

He missed 2 late fouls on our players...and didn't spot so much shirt-pulling/pushing, mainly on Howard I think.

I saw them all stood together. Never really notice but don't they all shake hands after the game or something? If so, it was probably just the captains and the officials

I saw Steve Howard go to give the ref a sarcastic handshake

Ah right.

Howard never gets any luck with referees tbf. He had a great game regardless of the decisions given/not given against him anyway :)

I was enjoying the abuse of Bunn as well, I'm not sure why he got so much stick, did something happen when he was on loan here? None the less I love to wind up the keeper. Did he give the willy puller sign to the kop in the second half? I thought I saw something and a bunch of fans were giving him shit after the final whistle.

Yeah, he did but it was all fairly low-key really. Bunn didn't seem to like our fans too much today.

I thought Howard got more decisions his way that usual today, Still had alot not given though.

Bunn didn't like our fans when we went Bramall Lane either. He's too easy to wind up.
