Ozwin Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I shouldn't have assumed that just because she was blonde and could sing she'd be fit and had big majumbos. Nice version of the Godfather song though. I think it was that.
iancognito Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Thought Howard had a cracker tonight. Won everything he could in the air and was the difference betwween us winning and losing the game. If he'd been in against Bristol we'd have had a better chance than with Gallagher up there.
Steven Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I went, but hope someone recorded the game to upload Likewise as I am away for Christmas and cocked up the timezones only getting the last twenty minutes or so.
Fox92 Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Pleased with that one, not just because I now have bragging rights over my Sheffield friends but because it was well deserved and we played well yesterday. What a shot by Morrison. It was beautiful passing and then as soon as Morrison came onto that ball I said 'no don't shoot, you are a defender' but it was one hell of a shot. Great play by Morrison as well to get in at the back post. No doubt that the second one was a pen. I thought Fryatt was man of the match and the defence couldn't cope with him. Not sure what happened with their goal, somehow, they managed to get through defence and then creep it under Weale. Loosing Hobbs (and Berner) at half time was a bit of a blow and I thought that McGivern looked better at centre back. O'Niell needs to be sent out on loan to a League 2/1 side I think because he didn't look up to it, but he did what had to be done I suppose. At last, we had a game where the set pieces were great - and, they won us the game. Can't wait for tomorow now So excited. Weale needs to work on getting a proper contact on his punches, sooner or later that will cost us That is what I have been trying to say for the past month or so.
Blueasafox Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Thoroughly entertaining game. Lloyd was immense. Luke O'Neil seemed out his depth. That is all. Considering Luke O'Neill is a Right back making his league debut as a Left back with Morrison and McGiven as centre backs then I'd give him alot of credit, If I'm honest I was worried about how we'd fair against an in form 7 unbeaten Blades But we looked a real threat going forward can't understand the Howard critisism.... he was holding up the ball feeding Dyer and Fryatt and we looked a real handful at times, that game has lifted my belief that if we can get either hobbs or Tunchev back soon and stick with yesterdays team with Gallager Waghorn and N'Gussien as super subs then were a match for any team in this league after attending the last three home matches I'd say were back on track
CorkerSWFC Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 How were the Blades fan's yesterday, vocal, many there???
Koke Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 About 1,800-2,000 of them made the trip. Vocally, not a patch on Wednesday.
purpleronnie Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Not sure if the matches I've seen so far are typical but the stadard seems pretty poor. Its a division where every team can beat the other, which is good for us I guess, on paper our side isnt great but most teams are in the same position, outside of newcastle I fear for teams who go up, but thats the aim, if we do maybe MM will get his cheque book out.
Koke Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 The back four were reprieved because the middle four stepped up to the plate and played a blinder. Wellens in particular I thought really stepped up and took responsibility. Anyone who says Andy King is not good enough for this league is a daft cunt. Lloyd Dyer kept asking the Sheffield United back four questions - his absolute devastating pace caused them troubles. Luke O'Neill, bless the lad, made Ryan McGivern look like a competent left back. But it was his league debut and was thrown into the deep end and played out of position. If we come away with a point from Keepmoat tomorrow, then it has been an excellent Christmas.
CorkerSWFC Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Good result for you lad's, Nigel is doing well at your place. Every chance of Premiership football at the Walkers if you keep beating the teams around you.
Karljohn Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 How were the Blades fan's yesterday, vocal, many there??? No where near as good as Wednesday and not that special at Bramall Lane either in August.
Corky Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 We deserved that win, good performance, I was impressed. We created plenty of chances, Bunn made some top saves, and passed the ball around. The midfield were superb, Dyer and Oakley especially, with Wellens having possibly his best game. Blades did threaten, we gave away a poor goal, and we probably backed off a little too much, but apart from a save from Weale, they didn't create clear-cut chances. Very important victory, whole team played well (even McGivern who I had my doubts over), O'Neill looked nervous but understandable. Hope Hobbs isn't too bad Good result
Ford Super Sunday Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 About 1,800-2,000 of them made the trip. Vocally, not a patch on Wednesday. My dad got home after me, he said he was behind a United fan who claimed that they 'won the singing battle' Funny, you never hear fans of the WINNING team claiming they win a singing 'battle' do you?
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 That singer at half time weren't half bad was she? What a pair.** of lungs. She was better than them dancers we had at the Bristol game
Lillehamring Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 I know its not a popular view, and this is based off the TV today, but Howard won an awful lot in the air, was only denied a goal by excellent goalkeeping too. Fryatt looked superb, but in part that was because Howard was an effective partner for him i watched on tv and saw him walking around, hardly able to breath how many times did we see fryatt going alone using skill to take on players. one time he had to beat three men, where was howard's space creation then?... even in the build up for the peno, he had to take the man on cause howard was just standing there, totally immobile. and (yet) another problem howard had, was getting caught offside, simply because the defence stepped up and howard couldn't get back into an onside position quick enough... it's not that i don't like him, but his mobility and failure to hit the target (even the 'excellent save' was surrounded by three woeful misses) is starting to really concern me, we are only half way through the season there is still a hell of a lot of footy to play. if pearson wants to start him, fair enough, especially if we continue to get results (thanks to improved set pieces, too) - but, surely, he has to start giving kermo some time to get him and fryatt working together, even if it's only 20 minutes a game?
Matt Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Yeah I forgot to say in my post, Corners, Much improved, We still had our dodgy overhit corners but for once we actually had decent delivered, clever set-up corners which looked dangerous and we scored from one, our corners have been awful including alot last season, but last night I was quite impressed with the majority of them.

Howard isn't the type of player Fryatt is! We will not see Howard ever running around skinning players. We got a good result, why do people have to slate Howard?
haraven Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 4th and rising! Bring on Donny - proud of the team.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Very pleasing performance, fully deserved the win, definitely worth braving the cold for. Although having Howard is helpful when we do need to go long ball, you could clearly see once we'd got the ball down on the floor and kept possession, we were going to create Sheff Utd plenty of problems. For once our midfield dominated the opposition's and moved the ball quickly and effectively. Dyer was a revelation because he played to his strengths; running at defenders. We did well in the second half to cope after Hobbs went off, McGivern had to step up to the plate and he did. The only negative was O'Neill, he clearly isn't ready for first team football. It may be harsh, but if he's good enough to be on the bench, he should be doing better than what he did. That's just nitpicking though really because Pearson had no choice, I'm just very happy at a fluid performance and deserved 3 points.
Fox92 Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 This the first time in a long time that I am actually proud of Leicester City FC. Ok, last season was great too but to win promotion and then carry on the form and be sitting 4th. That is great. We have had some matches were we have looked poor, Forest, Preston, West Brom, Bristol City etc but overall, Nigel Pearson (and staff) has done a fantastic job here. To beat sides such as Blackpool, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and even Sheffield Wednesday has been awesome! I hope Nigel and co are here for a long, long time and I hope that players like Michael Morrison, Jack Hobbs, Richie Wellens, Matty Fryatt and Andy King are here for ever! Well done Leicester, and everyone involved with the club, from Milan Mandaric funding the money to Nigel Pearson and the players to us - the fans.
leftsideoverhere Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 She's one of my best mates girlfriends. How many has he got?
leftsideoverhere Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 Delighted with last night's performance, everyone in the team did their job very well, or as well as could be hoped for in difficult circumstances (the back line). We do seem to be running out of defenders, so hopefully the rumours about Kerrea Gilbert in the January window turn out to be true. In fact, since the January sales always start on Boxing Day, couldn't we have him now? Luke O'Neill did his best, but he got pulled out of position a lot, and the step up in pace from his more usual appearances in the Academy / reserves was clearly (and understandably) a bit of a shock for him. Dyer was, as everyone has said, immense. Fast and dangerous. Clearly no Christmas hangover there. Howard also - fewer offsides than usual, and some great lay-offs to Fryatt which could easily have led to goals if not for good goalkeeping from Mark Bunn, who I am rapidly coming to hate. Why should someone who did a good brief job for us last year behave like a complete tool in games against us? I just don't get it. The fist pumping directed at the City fans behind his goal when United equalised in the away tie early in the season was bad enough, but last night, in front of the kop in the second half he had a right go at both one of our ballboys and then later one of the stewards for not returning the ball quickly enough for his liking when he was to take goal kicks. willy puller! United improved in the second half (they couldn't really have done anything else) and our shuffle at the back obviously left us rather exposed. They hammered the right flank for the 44 minutes following their goal, which was inevitable, but unnerving. But we stood strong, and, for the first time this season, I completely disagree with something Steve Claridge said on the FL show last night: no way did United deserve anything from a game they could have been four down in by half time.
