Sheffield Utd Post Match

I have not seen anything from Kermorgant that would see him be preffered to Howard in my opinion , Gally offers something a bit different in terms of playing the channels and dropping short but for me at the present moment in time the Howard/Fryatt partnership is working just fine.

Delighted with the win especially with the back 4 in the 2nd half , Mcgivern has rightly taken some stick since arriving but stood tall and dug deep 2nd half alongside Morrison who was excellent

Quality performance, in which the side showed great character and spirit - features which were notably missing earlier in the month.

In the first half, once we scored the midfield bossed the game. Only the woodwork and some great saves by Bunn kept the score at 2-0 at the break.

But the forced withdrawal of Hobbs clearly unsettled the team, as shown by the stream of errors which led to the blunts pulling a goal back.

However, the expected onslaught from the visitors never really emerged. In fact Dyer, Oakley and Howard all had great chances to kill the game off, but failed to take them.

The commanding presence of Morrison, who rose magnificently to the occasion against three ex-top flight strikers, helped see us through in the end, though.

The one weak link was O'Neil at left-back. Couldn't Neilson, the more experienced defender, have played there?

Overall, though, an important win against playoff rivals, which keeps us clear of the chasing pack ahead of a tough month of fixtures.

Delighted with last night's performance, everyone in the team did their job very well, or as well as could be hoped for in difficult circumstances (the back line).

We do seem to be running out of defenders, so hopefully the rumours about Kerrea Gilbert in the January window turn out to be true. In fact, since the January sales always start on Boxing Day, couldn't we have him now? Luke O'Neill did his best, but he got pulled out of position a lot, and the step up in pace from his more usual appearances in the Academy / reserves was clearly (and understandably) a bit of a shock for him.

Dyer was, as everyone has said, immense. Fast and dangerous. Clearly no Christmas hangover there. Howard also - fewer offsides than usual, and some great lay-offs to Fryatt which could easily have led to goals if not for good goalkeeping from Mark Bunn, who I am rapidly coming to hate. Why should someone who did a good brief job for us last year behave like a complete tool in games against us? I just don't get it. The fist pumping directed at the City fans behind his goal when United equalised in the away tie early in the season was bad enough, but last night, in front of the kop in the second half he had a right go at both one of our ballboys and then later one of the stewards for not returning the ball quickly enough for his liking when he was to take goal kicks. willy puller!

United improved in the second half (they couldn't really have done anything else) and our shuffle at the back obviously left us rather exposed. They hammered the right flank for the 44 minutes following their goal, which was inevitable, but unnerving. But we stood strong, and, for the first time this season, I completely disagree with something Steve Claridge said on the FL show last night: no way did United deserve anything from a game they could have been four down in by half time.

Did a "tosser" sign at the Kop at one point, dunno if anyone else saw that.

Good point, well made, but what do you expect from someone with Morrisey as his sig pic

Not necessarily aimed at Ultra but there was a lot of shit written a few weeks ago after 2 bad results, and lying in 6th or 7th, :o

Newsflash: We are not going to win every game, we are going to play badly and probably get dicked on again this season, can we save the knee jerk reactions and have a bit of perspective next time, however this season ends up it has already pissed all over the last 3 or 4 in the championship so lets just be thankful for that.

I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. Without their keeper and the crossbar we could have and perhaps should have won by 3 or 4 goals.

The main plus for me was that we actually created a lot of chances and some of our play was fluent and well put together.

We conceded a sloppy goal at the start of the second half and we were troubled by Camara who looked a useful player.

Morrison again looked competent and it was good to score from a corner, something we don't do often enough.

My only gripe, and it is a minor one, is that we didn't win by more goals. Two was enough today but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. But we were the better side and their defence in particular looked very ordinary.

Hey hey hey hang on a second, I like Morrissey but I still think Ultra's a cunt.

anyone know if this is being repeated on sky?

I was completely wasted yesterday and missed the match :S

I have checked as I missed it for different reason and cannot see any repeats. :(

The most pleasing aspect for me was that after conceding, instead of panicking we went looking for the third goal.

The team showed a lot of character in seeing it through and in the main playing sensibly and intelligently.

Blackwell reckons they deserved "at least a point"

Yeah? Well I have a 2nd class stamp with Blackwell's knowledge of football written on the back of it, it almost fills half of the stamp

A good many saw it, he did it during the second half and again at full time, only a matter of time before someone leaps onto the field for a Ian Walker-esque moment with him if he does that every week.

He received a decent round of applause at Bramall Lane when he came out for the 2nd half on front of us, but then he gave it the big 'un when they scored, he gets wound up very easily.

Personally would like to thank him for 6 very useful points, the 3 he helped with at Bristol Rovers, and his comical effort with the first goal last night, cheers Bunny!

Saw that. If they're that bad, get the ball yourself.

Mark Bunn can be as much of a twat as he wants, he won us the Bristol Rovers game away last season

Hero forever

Mark Bunn is a w****r.

That's absolutely fine, but he won us the game at Bristol Rovers last season, so your opinion of him is void.

Fair enough, he earnt us two points last season, but he's still a ****ing cunt.

Great result, great game.

I'm sure we played pretty well (from the little that I remember :D).

Defence looked shaky but did well enough to secure a result.

Thought Dyer and Fryatt had exceptional games. Special mention to Oakley, Wellens and King who also played very well.

Great effort from Morrision in the first half and deserved the goal. Thought Nielson had a good game also.

When their goal went in straight after the break, I thought we were doomed, but the lads did well.

Thought Sheffield's defence was solid but luckily for us we got a pen and profited from their mistakes. :city:
