From being at the game

Weale - 7 Not troubled too much.

Berner - 8 MOM for me. How we have missed him!

Hobbs - 7.5 Constantly solid and was always comfortable.

Brown - 7.5 Best game for a while though his distribution is still poor but very very good game.

Morrison - 7.5 No one got past him. Solid like all the defence.

Gallagher - 7 OK game looked threatening but rather Dyer started.

Wellens - 5 Was getting better the longer the game went on very hash sending off.

Oakley - 7.5 Never scared of putting in a challenge, proper captains performance, owned the midfield.

King - 7 Went about his business gain, and was the main reason Smith did nothing for the whole game.

Waghorn - 7 Lots of effort and always running.

Fryatt 7.5 -Looked very quick for once, shame he didnt score but he should have taken one of the chances he had.

Dyer - 6 Should have started but never really got into the game

Howard - 6

Solano - N/A

Weale - 7 - Abit slow on a couple of occasions when Routledge broke through and Nolans header. But made a decent save and was pretty solid.

Morrison - 9 - Motm just in my opinion kept didn't put a foot wrong.

Hobbs - 8 - Didn't get Nolan, Carroll or Ranger a sniff.

Brown - 8 - Dito

Berner - 8 - Defence look far better with him at the back. Loved his interview on Radio Leicester.

Waghorn - 7 - Ran his socks off.

Oakley - 8 - One of his best performances

King - 7 - Kept there midfield quiet.

Wellens - 5 - Needless second booking.

Gallagher - 7 - Looked alot better.

Fryatt - 7 - Looked sharp today.

Weale 6 - didn't have anything to do to justify a higher mark

Morrison 8 - MOTM for me, growing in confidence by the game, so vital interceptions/clearances and a constant outlet as well

Hobbs 6

Brown 7

Berner 7 - oh how we have missed this lad, vital goal line clearance too

Waghorn 7 - ran himself into the ground again, wasted a good opportunity in the second half although he did seem to have a defender all over him at the time, some good corner deliveries too

Oakley 6 - best game this season by a country mile

King 6 - solid game some vital clearances too, involved in possibly our best move of the match when Harper tipped over Fryatt's shot

Wellens 5 - harshly sent off but should of had enough experience to avoid it

Gallagher 7 - some cleaver runs and passing was causing them problems when he went off injured we lost something in attack

Fryatt 6 - ran the channels well occupied the defenders by himself but probably should of done better with his chances

Weale - 7.5 Flapped at a few, but stopped everything that came at him

Berner - 8 Class, but was lucky not to get sent off.

Hobbs - 8 Solid

Brown - 9 Fantastic game, not a foot wrong, threw himself at everything

Morrison - 8.5 Looks superb, a real star for the future.

Gallagher - 7 Few shit touches, but a great free-kick, and an otherwise good game

Wellens - 5 Started shit, got better, should have been sent off for the first challenge.

Oakley - 7.5 Best game I've seen from him, starting formation suited him. Took charge of the midfield when Richie went off.

King - 7 I personally didn't notice him, but he kept Smith quiet.

Waghorn - 7 Put the defence under pressure. Great running

Fryatt 8 - Great run, not a good finish, probably should have layed it off for Waghorn. But a great game nevertheless.

Dyer - 6.5 He earns this for the pressure when he came on, started on the left wing, and won the ball on the right, fantastic.

Howard - 6

Solano - N/A but wish I could see more of him

NP- 9 Brought out the best in the players.

Nicky Butt 8 - His sheer quality and ability to find a blue shirt with every pass of his was tremendous

Andy Carroll 8 - He was right up Wayne Brown's road. The type of player Brown eats for breakfast. He doesn't score. He doesn't assist. He doesn't lead the line. He doesn't hold the ball up. He does fuck all.

Alan Smith 8 - Zero [0] goals since 2007 and is about as effective as a bang of wank.

Chris Hughton 9 - His ability to make his team play against 10 men for sixty minutes and offer absolutely no substantial threat up until the 75th minute was mind-blowing amazing. Having Alan Smith [0 goals since 2007, two and a half years] and Nicky Butt [Only does sideways and backward passes and he even fucks them up] in the same midfield is a resplendent sublime tactical move of the highest order.

Except he was so inconsistent.

Wellen's was fouled badly prior to his first booking where was the yellow card for that.

Why was the Newcastle defender not booked for his foul on Gallagher just outside the box when Wellen's was given a 2nd yellow for a lesser offence?

Berner should have got a 2nd yellow

Howard should have been booked for a terrible tackle towards the end of the game

Then there's the penalties.

He certainly didn't earn my respect.

Agree 100% with this. Players need consistency and he failed to provide it. Time after time he made the wrong decision, not just for us but for both sides. The game worked despite him not because of him.

At the game.

Weale 6 One good save but he came for a couple of crosses and flapped at them and some of his kicking was poor.

Berner 8 Fabulous display but should have been sent off and he knows it. Good to have him back.

Hobbs 8.5 Terrific display. Hardly put a foot wrong.

Brown 8 Some woeful passing but overall great. Just his type of game lump vs lump no pace involved. Some great blocks and headers in the last ten minutes.

Morrison 9 An excellent display. Won more than his share of 50:50 tackles and passed the ball well most times.

Gallagher 8 Possibly his best display for us. Showed some tricks and kept the ball well. Good passing to feet for most of the game.

Wellens 3 idiot.

King 9 I'm not his biggest fan but he was excellent. I lost count of the number of times in the second half he broke up play and then kept possssion or was willing to get into space to receive the ball.

Oakley 8 A captain's performance at last. Should probably have scored early on.

Waghorn 8 An excellent game. Harried and could perhaps have done better with his chance in the second half. One sublime pass which set up Oakley in the first half.

Fryatt 9 Did all he could and frankly made their central defenders look distinctly average. Ran out of steam towards the end but hardly surprising.

Dyer 6 I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he found it hard to get into the pace of the game.

Howard 5 Poor. Not his sort of game though as we needed someone to work their back line for the last ten minutes and he just can't do that. Though we lost control of the play once he came on.

Solano N/A Hard to judge from this but looks a little way off the pace at the moment. Thought his free kick at the end was poor.

AT MATCH

Weale - 7 (Didn't have much to do. One great stop, tipping Van Aanholt's shot over, nearly embarrassed though when he seemed to drop the ball presenting them with a chance)

Morrison - 9 (Superb. Calm and collected when faced with oncoming runners, and repeatedly just put in a simple, effective tackle to stop any danger)

Brown - 7 (Looked comfortable and solid, though distribution from feet the usual problem surfaced once again)

Hobbs - 7 (Similar to Brown, these two marshalled central defence so much more confidently than in recent games)

Berner - 8 (Infinitely better than McGivern, on a personal note could possibly be my favourite Leicester City player? Has still got Routledge in his back pocket...)

Oakley - 8 (Much, much better display than in recent games. Passing was accurate, quick and creative)

King - 8 (Really shored up the midfield and kept giving us an alternative route towards their 18 yard box. None of his previous anonymity)

Wellens - 7 (Doesn't lose marks from me for being sent off, because the second yellow was a joke. Creative and didn't lose possession)

Gallagher - 10 MOTM (Fabulous. The most committed, hard-working individual performance I've seen from a City player in a long time. There were periods in which he dominated the entire midfield almost on his own)

Fryatt - 8 (Assured, strong, pacy and creative. Hard to believe he's the same player that came on as a sub last week against Cardiff. And imagine if he'd planted that chance into the net...)

Waghorn - 7 (Sometimes unbelievably strong against their defenders, provides a great outlet for the ball as he can be relied upon to turn and create chances)

Dyer - 5 (He's got the ability but sometimes looks afraid to truly exploit it. Wasn't strong enough today, but that's what you get: one week lightning, next week a damp squib)

Howard - 5 (I am Howard's number 1 fan, but he just didn't slot into this game in an attacking sense. Requires balls to fight for in the box, perhaps consistent decent crosses from Solano will be the key?)

Solano - 6 (To be fair, he was only on for 10 minutes - think he looked confident and assured if not quite fully up to pace yet.)

Crowd - 10 (Best I've experienced at the Walkers)

Gallagher 8 (Heavily involved, made good simple passes, always a threat, decent set-pieces, deserved his ovation)

Absolutely. I've not always been his biggest fan but it's hard to criticise his work-rate and commitment yesterday. The ovation he received was fantastic and carried on along the length of the kop, around the corner, and then to B3... where there was hardly a ripple. :glare: Perhaps it interrupted their sandwiches or rigor mortis had set in? :dunno:

Shame on you B3  and credit to B2 who picked the ovation up again and applauded him off.

Weale 7 - Wobbly on crosses, but positioned himself well.

Morrison 7 - Steady

Hobbs 8.5 - After losing a couple of early headers, dominated Carroll for the rest of the game

Brown 7 - No idea why people are giving him 9's. Made a couple of good blocks but gave the ball away virtually every time he got it which put more pressure on.

Berner 8 - How nice is it to have a left back who doesn't make you shit your pants?

Oakley 8 - His best game since QPR - picked up so many loose balls.

King 8 - Was everywhere, one stinking effort on goal though.

Wellens 2 - I've not seen the game back on TV yet but thought the first tackle looked a nothing incident, which apparently was not the case. The second incident was a clear booking though, it was very cynical and more than anything, really stupid as he'd already been booked.

Gallagher 8.5 - His best game for us. Ran at them and showed some passion that had been sorely missing from his earlier performances. No coincidence that Newcastle got on top when he went off.

Waghorn 7 - He's just not as good as a lot on here would have us believe. Nonetheless, he worked hard (largely out of position) and gave the Newcastle defenders a hard time.

Fryatt 8 - If he'd tucked that chance away following his run it would have been one of the greatest goals scored at the Walkers. Struggled to get into the game in the second half but his first half performance was inspirational.

subs:

Dyer and Howard 3 - Absolutely fooking useless. I went with a few neutral mates who could not believe how ineffective they were. Howard didn't win a single header whilst we had 2 up front and then when Fryatt went off started winning them, flicking them on to the Newcastle centre backs.

Solano 5 - Mixed bag in his 10 minutes. Gave it away a lot but one cracking bit of play down the right hand side.

Pearson 7 - Dyer was not the man to replace Gallagher but other than that he did well - going two up top in the second half meant we didn't lose the initiative.

Referee 0 - fooking awful. How he didn't book the Newcastle player for the chest-high karate kick and then booked Berner 5 seconds later beggared belief.

Not entirely true. He's pretty good at smacking birds in the face and paying her off before it goes to court.
