Leicester fans fourth most fickle in England.

There was an article about them in When Saturday Comes a few issues ago. Apparently a lot of Southampton fans were boycotting games to force the club into administration and get their previous owner(s) out as they were ruining the club, the increased attendance is a result of this. Still, well done to them

What about Norwich havent lost any fans average attendance 2000 higher than ours

This is brilliant.

I've been saying for years that despite all football commentators and pundits describing Newcastle fans as the most loyal in the world, their crowds were very poor before Keegan arrived - their loyalty is only a recent thing. This just goes to prove it. Look at their attendance drop and 6360 'loyal' fans must have better things to do on Saturdays!

How about you browse his highly informative website before you fvcking fly off the handle like that?! He's done percentage increases in this one http://www.mikeavery.co.uk/Attendance%20Al...%20to%20Low.htm

Calm down pet, I was hardly "flying off the handle". It probably didn't come across on the internet but it was meant in jest. I don't think I've ever used "sort your life out" seriously, or ever really been that serious on this forum.

As an aside, I actually found that table but it's sorted by average attendance. When there's 356 teams in it it's not easy to compare the percentage change.

Why isn't it done in a percentage increase? If Man Utd and Acrington Stanley both increased their attendance by 1000 then it's a much bigger increase comparatively for one team than the other. Sort your life out Mike Avery!

Edit: just realised that I've fucked off since we got promoted. I'm an idiot.

See you at Palace

Spot on.

But they still get shit crowds. Most people my age support Utd, Arsenal, etc around here but a lot support Posh as well!

Madness.

Indeed, I'm in Peterborough a lot and when they got promoted there were a lot of people walking around in Posh shirts, now, however I don't see any. It must be because it's winter or something eh.

They have an average attendance of over 42,000. The 5th highest in English football this season.

They do now. These are the average attendance for the 5 years before Keegan arrived:

1991/1992 Division Two (Old) 21,012

1990/1991 Division Two (Old) 16,879

1989/1990 Division Two (Old) 21,579

1988/1989 Division One (Old) 22,815

1987/1988 Division One (Old) 21,059

Has there been a baby boom in Newcastle since 1992? Although the stadium has always had the capacity for more, they didn't exceed 30k since the mid seventies.

Anybody know what our average attendances were for the same period? I bet we weren't far behind yet they're still known as the most loyal fans in history, yet I beg to differ.

Meh. Suprised Southampton have banged 2,500 on their attendance despite getting relegated and going into administration. Fair play to them. Some of our 'fans' seemed to forget we existed until there was a trophy to wank into.

To be fair to Southampton, alot of their fans stopped attending their games because they hated Rupert Lowe who basically fooked them up. Now (I think) they're suppossed to be like the 4th richest club in England. Still, fair play to those people as they are making an effort to see their team even though their in a lower division.

Few months ago went Norwich. Selling Season Tickets for £50 to concessions, and kids. Probably why :P

I guess Southampton are an exception to the rule but surely the away support of the teams in the Championship boosts our attendance ?

I was just about to say that, maybe not to the tune of 3.5k, but away fans also probably contribute a significant chunk of Newcastle's drop in average attendance.

There's lies, there's damn lies and then there's statistics

Peterborofox posting in a thread about fans fickleness?!

Oh the irony.

:D

Are we fickle really? Because we had an average gate of 23,500 when we were relegated and 20k when we won the division last season.

I think the away support has boosted our attendance too, only Peterborough and Leeds brought 3k last season whereas Swansea, Derby, West Brom and Newcastle have all brought that so far.

355 Champ Newcastle United 2 42,390 48,750 -6,360

356 Champ Middlesbrough 2 19,610 28,376 -8,766

They love their football in the North East. So long as it's Premiership football obviously.

 Newcastle averaging 43,000, which is about 13,000 more than any team has averaged in the second tier since the 1970's despite being utterly taken the piss out of over a long period by their directors and players alike. Fickle bastards.

You tell me a team in the Premiership who would average that in the circumstances. Man Utd. No one else.

See that's where the myth begins, their crowds have averaged under 20,000 THREE times in their history, despite no domestic success of any kind for 56 years. In the 80's they were generally 5-7th best supported team in the league despite selling all their best players every year like Beardsley, Gazza and Waddle, and coming in the top ten once between 1970 and 1993. Do continue talking shit though.....

I think the fact you're slagging an average attendance of 43,000 in the second tier of a league system, which I repeat, hasn't come close to being achieved in any football league in over 35 years, says a lot about your lack of sexual expolits personally. :crylaugh:

1991/1992 Division Two (Old) 21,012 - 24th in Division Two most of the season

1990/1991 Division Two (Old) 16,879 - Official boycot to get rid of McKeag and get SJH in which the fans won

1989/1990 Division Two (Old) 21,579 -

1988/1989 Division One (Old) 22,815 - Relegated in last place, ave gate of 27,000 (4th highest with three games to go then relegated, last three meaningless games in front of 14,000)

1987/1988 Division One (Old) 21,059 - Capacity between 23 and 27,000 the whole season due to the building of the Milburn Stand (financed by Beardsley's sale)

Interesting you chose not to mention their 84, 85 or 86 average gates. 1984 for instance third highest average in the country (30,000) despite being in the second division. Leicester's averages for the seasons mentioned.

1991/1992 Division Two (Old) 15,185

1990/1991 Division Two (Old) 11,546

1989/1990 Division Two (Old) 11,700

1988/1989 Division Two (Old) 10,681

1987/1988 Division Two (Old) 10,700

Come back when you have an argument and don't illustrate to this board your talksport generation like stance eh?

I didn't go far enough down to see the minus numbers first time. Surely we're the 8th most fickle with WBA, Newcastle, Boro and Charlton included
