maddog Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Bert mentioned earlier that Bruno's booking would mean he would miss Saturday. That would be a real shame. Our unbeaten run coincides with his return I think, and Forest are undoubtedly strong down the flanks.Ah well, one man doesn't make a team. In a strange turn of events, time to re-sign Sheehan on-loan, for him to deliver the inch perfect cross for the winning goal. If not, i'll take Chrissy P's knowledge over anything else please Berners worst game of the season by a mile though was at Forest, so perhaps this will be a blessing in disguise if he is out

If not, i'll take Chrissy P's knowledge over anything else please I dont think he is. To my knowledge, yes it is his 5th booking, but its past 31st december which means he'll only get an FA Warning of his future conduct or something like that. After 31 December, you'll need 10 bookings i think!
Corky Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Disappointed that Bruno is out for Saturday, hopefully McGivern will step up to the plate.
MC Prussian Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 I wonder how maddog comes up with his "statistics". Top 8 place 100% in the bag now In relation to what?
Dylan Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 People still thinking Bruno out for Saturday. And am pretty sure he's not! Can someone settle this?
Head Honcho Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Great win and 6 points against Cardiff in March should just about be the icing on the cake
Ozwin Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 I can't believe that we've won, away from home, kept a clean sheet and yet people still aren't happy. Who's not happy?
lildave3 Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Bert was wrong, LD3 was right Some would say
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Just got back, God it was cold! But Waghorn's sweet finish made the trip worth while. Solid performance, even with the nervy end to the game. Donny never truly looked like they were going to threaten. Hobbs and Weale (minus his goal kicks, which kept going out of play ) were stand out players for me. Lloyd looked good down the wing - hope he can take some confidence into Saturday's game. Wellens did a good job getting in the mix too. All in all a decent game and three well earned points at a tough place (as Forest found out).
CKB Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 What can i say? just very pleased to get a win on the run up to the Trees game
StanSP Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Only the 3rd team this season to win there I think. And it was the 14th game this season where we've been the first to score and not come away with 0 points.
Tommeh Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Very good win that, we were dangerous 1st half and fought it out well 2nd. Just about value for the win, massive credit to Weale and Hobbs in the 2nd period. Also I love seeing Dyer and N'Guassan in the same side. Waggy's finish was different class. Just a quick hello and fook off to the fans who irronically cheered Weale's goal kicks later on, yes a couple went into touch before but that was bang out of order. Hardly surprised though, our away support has definatly recruited a few more weasels this season.
Fox You Forest Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 Quality result! Waghorn put a cracking shift in up top and looked dead on his feet in the last ten minutes, Wasn't a great game by any means but we were solid and I don't think Donny would have scored had we still been playing. Managed to keep occupied by giving the bald fella on the left hand side some. Had some cash on Waghorn to score first tonight too.

The same with Wayne Brown's distribution too, there were a couple of occasions where fans cheered when he found a blue shirt. Yes his passing might not be the best in the world. But he does a good job defending from set pieces, and whacking players into row Z when needed. Thought he and Hobbs did well tonight.

One or two around me were doing it and it's not entirely his fault, Wellens and King pass the ball back to him time and time again but don't want the ball back and he's forced to play it long which is obviously not his forte, Brown should be the one playing it ten yards to Wellens or King to look for forward ball not the other way round. Didn't he leave then come back again Yeah, about ten minutes from the end.
maddog Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 Going into the Forest game on the back of this win has got me even more looking forward to the game. Probably some sort of huge anti climax though
Scow Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 One or two around me were doing it and it's not entirely his fault, Wellens and King pass the ball back to him time and time again but don't want the ball back and he's forced to play it long which is obviously not his forte, Brown should be the one playing it ten yards to Wellens or King to look for forward ball not the other way round. This was the general pattern of play - both Wellens and King made little effort to drop deep and collect the ball; instead, they were very much static. I wasn't particularly impressed with Wellens tonight. He, like the rest of the team, started the game well, but faded away as soon as we scored the goal and the match wore on. However, despite a few clever free kicks in his favour, he was very slack off the ball and let players spin off him. Maybe I'm being too critical, but the amount of times Donny got in behind our midfield, along with picking up the second balls, was worrying. Enough of that though; an excellent three points and a clean sheet - you can't argue with that away from home. To be fair to Donny, they played some good football at times, similar to Blackpool, but I suppose they didn't create too many clear cut chances. The Plymouth game must have taken its toll on the players. Berner and Brown in particular looked shattered in the second half. I would have taken five points from the last three away games, so I'm happy long time.

syston_fox Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 Really enjoyed the night actually - wasn't expecting much from it but had a decent laugh and was good to see the side battle hard for the win. I still cant believe that we could actually get promotion this season and how hard we are to beat now compared to a couple of years back. I was trying to work out how many league defeats we've had in Pearson's 2 seasons and think it's only 11 or something like that - incredible record in what is a very tough couple of divisions.
Cobbo Posted 24 February 2010 Posted 24 February 2010 Very nice 3 points in poor conditions. Just home after the snow fest that was the M1. Could have been like Scunny in that we tore them apart in the first 20 and could have been 3 up...but I'll take the 1-0!
