Collymore Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 I wonder if he's got a chance of making the world cup? I'd love a city Leicester player involved. Maybe someone should start a facebook group I've been thinking back to past world cups and the Euro competitions and can't think of that many players who have been involved. Muzzy, Theo, Keller possibly? Was Skills Johansson in the sweden squad for the last Euros?

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Nikos Dabizas (somehow) helped Greece to the 2004 European Championships, Muzzy (2002), Elliott and Keller (1998) have also played in World Cups.
MC Prussian Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 It's a hard and long way to the Swiss National Squad. As much as I'd be elated with a Bruno Berner call-up to Hitzfeld's team, there's still FC Zurich's Ludovic Magnin (61 caps; formerly with Stuttgart), Sampdoria's Reto Ziegler and Eintracht Frankfurt's Christoph Spycher (46 caps) competing for a place on the left-back position. Spycher and Magnin being in the same age category as Berner, and Magnin with loads more international and European experience (both in tournaments and club competitions). Slim chances - if only Hitzfeld would jump over his shadow and nominate Berner, who's having his best season ever (he's already surpassed his goalscoring record with Freiburg from five years ago) for one of the test games leading up to South Africa 2010... The first exercise against Uruguay on Wednesday is going take place without our dear Bruno... Maybe Costa Rica or Italy could be it... Both matches set in early June.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 I know next to nothing about the Swiss team but I suspect he's too far off the radar, I'd love it though if he managed to sneak in. At worst he's solid, he's just so consistent you always know what you're going to get, in fact he's so consistent I already know he'll be getting my vote for player of the season.

No chance he'll get in ahead of Magnin, Ziegler and Spycher. This is a non-starter.

MC Prussian Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 i guess with injuries its possible... Evil thoughts, I tell thee...

Tony Pine Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 zagorakis player of the tournament in the 2004 Euros
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Wasn't he the captain but played no games due to injury? Seems you're right. No wonder they won.
Corky Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Gordon Banks for crying out loud... world cup winner! Everyone knew that

Hitesh Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Would be good to see him there! He is playing really well at the moment but I can't see him getting ahead of the names mentioned earlier!
Flynny Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Be interested to see how this performance moves him up the old Opta index. Think I meant Actim. Oh well.
Babylon Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I'd rather he didn't go to the world cup... he's no spring chicken and I'd prefer to have him fully fit next year.
purpleronnie Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I call him bunsen burner. You know because his name is similar....to a bunsen burner. I've changed his name in a hilarious way. I'm a comedy genius.
