Bit suprised by some of the comments about Oakley, i thought yesterday was one of his best matches for us. He moved and passed the ball well and showed excellent vision to get waghorn through the middle with the throw, also ran all over the pitch for the team. Thats just my opinion anyway.

Great team performance against a team that came to The Walkers with a game plan............do not to lose.

Every player merits a high score.

Liked the look of Alex Bruce, hope he is fit for selection against Cov. as he would get my vote over Wayne Brown.

Jack Hobbs 90 minutes of fantastic defending, 10/10 MOM. This guy is IMO the best purchase of the season in the whole of The Championship, thank you Benitez you plonker!

Nigel Pearson, is there a cooler guy on this planet?

Ref: when I find myself agreeing with Dave Jones' complaints, I know that something must be up. That decision to give us a goal kick didn't look clear from the stands, but must have been blantantly obvious from pitch-level.

The guy blew-up for every little niggly bit of contact and was utterly indecisive when it came to Cardiff's endless line of injured players (in terms of play on or not).

The whole thing with the throw in just summed it up - the men in black are supposed to be in charge of the game, so why the massive level of confusion? Surely one of the 4 officials would have seen what had happened and just explained it in 5 seconds.

Weale 8 - Never looked uncomfortable - fantastic save from Whittingham.

Morrison 7.5 - Turning into a very accomplished Championship defender, both at right back and centre half.

Bruce 6 - Seemed to be doing ok, came off too early to judge him properly.

Hobbs 9 - One way or another, he'll be playing in the Premiership next season. I didn't think his performance against Forest was as impressive as others made out (he was still good) but yesterday he was superb, adding a more disciplined edge to his defending than the sometimes hopeful lunges he occasionally puts in).

Berner 7 - Ok game, not his best. Professional booking...

Wellens 7 - Didn't think he was as good as others have said (his post match interview was terrific on Radio Leicester though, slagging off Whittingham!). Gave the ball away a lot in the first half, came into it in the second period.

King 6- There are games when he is quietly assured and games where he seems to do sweet FA. I like him, but yesterday was one of the latter performances.

Oakley 6 - I like him in his more advanced role, but is still struggling to justify his place in the side with the likes of N'Guessan, Solano and Adams pushing for a place (with Gallagher capable of playing in the advanced midfield role).

Gallagher 7 - Threatening in an understated way. Cracking shot went wide.

Waghorn 7 - Still doesn't make the sorts of runs he needs to to play that lone front man role for me. Should come as he gets used to the role. Good finish though, and worked hard throughout.

Dyer 8 - Really energetic performance. Arguably the most improved player this season.

Subs:

Solano 7.5 - Cardiff managed nothing down his side. A couple of decent crosses too (there were also a couple of stinkers!)

Vaughan 5 - I hope he was injured, otherwise he just wasn't trying.

Howard 6.5 - Did his job well but to little effect.

Overall it was a cracking result but I get the feeling we'll have to play better than that to get a result in Cardiff in a fortnight.

Other than provide the assist for the goal, spread a pin-point 50 yard pass to Gallagher and link more than well with Wellens and Oakley he probably did do fuck all.

Ok, I forgot about the header for the goal. Well cushioned, deserving of an extra point.

One 50 yard pass doesn't make a performance and I thought Cardiff overran us in midfield at times. When King is at his best we have control of the midfield.

Probably just me but putting the ratings like that makes it look like they all got minus scores (so a shocking performance by Hobbs, Vaughan not so bad)! :giggle:

Weale - 7

Great save from that Whittingham, the lazy midfielder who's got 16 goals this season because he doesn't track back according to Wellens. No other real save to talk about. Typically solid Weale.

Morrison - 8

Adapted well to the change in position and was excellent alongside Hobbs.

Hobbs - 9

Absolutely outstanding. Always seems to be in the right position.

Bruce - 7

I thought he looked assured alongside Hobbs. Just kept to the basics and used the ball well.

Berner - 8

Classy bastard once again. Always looking to get forward and uses the ball well.

Wellens - 8

Back to his early season form.

King - 7

Had a quietly efficient game. A nice deft header for Waghorn's goal.

Oakley - 7

Still not at his best but was very much involved in the game and showed quick thinking for the goal.

Dyer - 8

Always gives us that blistering pace that worries defenders. He caused Cardiff all sorts of problems with his direct running and speed. Worked ever so hard off the ball too.

Gallagher - 7

Decent in patches.

Waghorn - 8

Excellent front play. Used his strength well again to bring others into play.

Subs:

Solano - 7

Defended reasonably well, but his distribution was a bit loose at times.

Vaughan - 7

Looks promising - should have won a penalty. Good pace and strength. Concerned by his lack of effort in closing down towards the end.

Howard - 6

Held up the ball well.
