StanSP Posted 18 March 2010 Posted 18 March 2010 Just to let you guys know, I've been told by the same person who told me the previous stuff about Vaughan, that Vaughan being left out of Palace squad was precautionary. Also, he was being saved for the match on Sunday. However, if he's not in the squad for Sunday, then we aren't gonna take a risk with him for that particular match.

If Vaughan is match-fit and ready to go, a third from him would be the icing on the cake. Off to the airport now.

It's a local derby so I fully expect a bore draw, so: Do I stay at home, nice Sunday roast for lunch, jug (or 2) of Mrs M's powerful citrus sangria, watch the game in comfort and every chance of a little afternoon delight later, or, Four hours on the motorway, meat pie and a hard seat in the Walkers?... No contest, up the M1 I go! (Actually I lie, I am seriously considering giving this a miss and checking out the BBC in HD. Roast pork, stuffing, the works plus sangria too...mmmm.... )

Last I heard they'd sold 900, about a week or so before the game. Doubt there'll be any more than 2000 or so when all said and done...

I don't know, but i'm fairly sure we've always bought around 4 or 5,000, even on that friday. I'm not sure I might be wrong, I can't find any attendance giving the attendence of away fans for that match but i've thought everytime we've visted that shithole in the west midlands we've took 4 or 5,000, helping out making you weak attendances sound just a little bit better.

It's the East Midlands derbies that matter. That said, I want us to do well on Sunday, but it's because of the TV thing. For years it was always the rule that when Leicester finally got a featured slot or a live game on the telly we were always crap. But this season our televised performances have been first rate, and I really want us to keep that up. It's about time the TV pundits learned to say some nice things about Leicester. Often it seems the match pundits can't wait to tear into us, presumably because it's well known how there's a sizeable Leicester following amongst the studio boys (Manish, Lineker, Arlo White, etc.).

Bit concerned about the ref being Mason, he's never had a good game that I've seen and now they're moving him down the divisions inflicting him on less high-profile games.

Vice-captain Wayne Brown has recovered from a hamstring strain and is fit to face the Sky Blues at the Walkers Stadium (2pm). Pearson must now decide whether to change a back four that has not conceded a goal in Brown's two-match absence. Michael Morrison has moved from right-back to centre-back to link up with Jack Hobbs, and veteran Nolberto Solano has looked assured at right-back. However, Pearson said it is unrealistic to expect 35-year-old Solano to play every game. As a result, he may decide to recall Brown and move Morrison back to right-back to face Chris Coleman's side. "Browny has been training and he should be available for tomorrow, and it is good to have him back," he said. "The back four have been excellent in the last two games. Michael is a centre-back and had a good year for us last year, but he has done well for us at right-back as well. "I think it is important to remember that Nobby (Solano) is in his mid-30s and he isn't going to be able to play week in and week out because the games come thick and fast." Defender Alex Bruce and striker James Vaughan will not be available because of injury. Bruce will undergo surgery on a hernia on Tuesday and will be missing for between five days to two weeks, while Vaughan has a slight hamstring strain and has been ill with a virus.

I have made my views known on this subject many times, in the continued absence of Tunchev I really want to see Morrison and Hobbs established as our first choice centerbacks, for me this is a 'no brainer'. I understand what Brown brings to the game and it is quite formidable in terms of his physicality and presence in the air but to my mind he is too limited as a footballer to be a long term solution. In addition I strongly believe that Hobbs is a more commanding figure without Brown alongside him and I think this is a big advantage. Against Palace Hobbs was totally in control and looked comfortable in the left center position, possibly because he took command and was usually first too the ball leaving Morrison to tidy up, so the left / right positions were less of a an issue. I know the Palace attack was pretty poor but the pair looked very impressive and bodes well for the future. I'm struggling to see Solano up to the two games on Sunday and Wednesday. Hobbs was excellent at Palace and did indeed line up to the left. More importantly he took total charge of the back line and attacked virtually every ball played into our box, leaving Morrison to tidy up. Early days but very impressive. He is nowhere near as assertive alongside Brown and I think we look much better organised with Hobbs calling the shots, sure we need to see how they do against better opposition but a great start none the less... :thumbup: You're probably right about Nobby not being up for two matches in four days but I would be very reluctant to split up Morrison and Hobbs, I am really not sure which way to go... Hobbs is clearly relishing this role, his distribution is improving and he even brought the ball out of defence on a few occasions in a manner reminiscent of Alan Hansen! Please don't give me a hard time for having a go at Brown. He is a good player who has carved out a decent career in the second tier of English football, a career that I (and I suspect many others on this forum) would give their right arm to have had, all credit to him. However he is not quite good enough for a 'top' Championship side looking for promotion to the Prem.
