eaststandtom Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 if the club has got the arse because radio leicester or the mercury dared to ask them some searching questions then thats too bad! after years of non sensical match reporting by the merc its good that someone ie, stringer, is prepared to risk upsetting someone. why not? he is a journalist, thats his job.as a supporter of the club i'd love to know the reasons why certain things happen and who is injured etc.

Unlike you I couldn't care less about daring journalism, more bothered about sensible and informative journalism. Of course the Mercury is hardly thrill a minute but it's adequate enough to keep upto date with the club.

Surely not? It's best to keep the opposition guessing. We do not have a right to know everything. We just have the right to expect the club to be professional in its media handling.
davieG Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Whatever the reason and it surely can't be that serious that it can't be resolved by a little bit of adult communication makes the club look petty and childish.
unreachable Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Whatever the reason and it surely can't be that serious that it can't be resolved by a little bit of adult communication makes the club look petty and childish. Why take Radio Leicester's side? Why dismiss the possibility that the club have good reasons?
The Stig Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 I detect from NP's manner in Stringer interviews, to interviews with Sky or the FL show that he perhaps isn't too much a fan of Stringer. I could be wrong but he often gives shorter answers to Ian and seems more uptight. Even if Ian or anyone of the RL team has upset Nigel, it seems to me that it would have more of a detremental effect not talking to RL at a time like this. You don't want to risk upsetting the fans during such a key time. Plus it doesn't look good on NP and the club if the minute they start losing they suddenly stop talking to RL.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 You never know he might of just been banned from asking questions in this specific press conference. Maybe NP's got a trick up his sleeve, and something he doesn't want to give away to the media. Looking on stringer's website, he looks like a right pretty boy judging by the Banner.

I don't really see why any fans will get upset over this, seems like some people are making a mountain of a mole hill. If anything, it should have the opposite effect and will probably help everyone focus. Alex Ferguson hasn't talked to the BBC for years and I don't see that having much detrimental effect on Manchester United.

We do not have a right to know everything. We just have the right to expect the club to be professional in its media handling. not asking to know everything just things like why did we sell mattock, why is dj constantly being farmed out, why is clem still injured etc etc. couldnt care for them as players but all the fans are in the dark over these things and left to make own assumptions. i dont think wba knowing the fitness of lloyd dyer is going to sway whether or not we win against wba. if the team plays well collectively we have a good chance
unreachable Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 I would settle for post match discussion on the facts with no pre match. Can someone explain the purpose of discussing what might or might not happen before a match? Leave the club to concentrate on winning matches not on boosting Ian Stringer's ego or selling newspapers.
unreachable Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Nigel is concentrating on the match not stupid questions from Stringer!
Koke Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Pressure is getting to Nigel. Whatever he is pissed about, surely it can be solved in an adult manner. For Ian Stringer to be banned from asking question one would think he asked some outrageous questions that were bang out of order. Stringer is a journalist. Journalists ask pushy questions. That's their job. I don't particular care that they have been banned, but it seems a bit petty and non-entity to me. Meh.
davieG Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Why take Radio Leicester's side? Why dismiss the possibility that the club have good reasons? I'm not taking sides I just can't believe it can be anything serious enough to warrant banning otherwise I'd imagine Stringer would be dismissed. If people can't resolve differences at this level by discussion then it's a very poor show. I've defended Pearson in the past on the subject of inane questions but banning the local radio and their commentator come on it's pathetic.
lcfcsnow Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 It's not just Ian Stringer/BBC Leicester though is it, he banned the fans visiting the training ground and he's pushing us away even more with his latest stunt - Mandaric's worst nightmare.
The Stig Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 I don't really see why any fans will get upset over this, Really? Bad move by NP. As DavieG said, It's punishing the supporters and not BBC Radio Leicester. Did Stringer say anything bad about NP's bad back? Must of to trigger this. My thoughts.. Pressure is getting to Nigel. It's not just Ian Stringer/BBC Leicester though is it, he banned the fans visiting the training ground and he's pushing us away even more with his latest stunt - Mandaric's worst nightmare. Just a few examples. I don't believe the pressure is getting to Nigel, but doing this makes people think that it is, and gives the fans a reason to be negative. Before a big game this isn't what you want, especially when you've lost three on the bounce. I use RL to keep up with the club a lot, now I can't. Alex Ferguson hasn't talked to the BBC for years and I don't see that having much detrimental effect on Manchester United. While it doesn't have a negative reflect on results, I know many Man U fans who don't like the fact they can't hear from their manager on Match of the Day.

Open all hours and open access is one extreme. Where does the true balance lay? I think the club should keep the training ground private to allow game preparations to be done without some scout videoing things on their mobile phones. Pearson hasn't disappointed me yet.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 OH MY GOD NIGEL HAS LOST THE PLOT, WE'RE GONNA FINISH 24TH, SACK HIM IMMEDIATELY OR THE CLUB WILL BE BACK IN LEAGUE 1 IN NO TIME
Guest Mee-9 Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 After a home game, most of us will climb back into our cars, bang the radio on and listen to what NP has to say, and what the players think of the game. It'd be sad to see this go, as I enjoy listening to the radio on the way home.
The Stig Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 Pearson hasn't disappointed me yet. I agree. I think this is a hugely minor thing and my opinion on NP has not changed at all. Others however may not take the same opinion as I demonstrated in my previous posts.

Webbo Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 He was just talking to the girl on EMT. He seemed happy enough to talk to her.
Daggers Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 They'll be getting their info from Foxestalk now That's every single dumbass tweet Stringer has posted.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 April 2010 Posted 1 April 2010 He was just talking to the girl about her PMT. He seemed happy enough to talk to her. After the Derby and Cardiff match stringer was quite critical of NP's tactics etc, more so then previous city radio hosts, and NP not being too liking of the media, he probably feels stringer is more of a hindrance!!
