buzzy Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 I think he's been given a few games off to appease those in power at the club, so that Radio Leicester can wriggle their way back in the press conferences and have access to the players/staff again. It's typical political b*llocks really, LCFC get in the hump about something done by Radio Leicester and Stringer's the fall guy. I personally think Stringer's done a decent job and has commentated with enthusiasm and passion, which is great for those of us who can't get to every game. stringer is a complete prat and worse commentar rl have had his bias and just wish he does not come back .
ozleicester Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 I understand the commentary angle but do you really get that much from pre/post match comments that it's a massive disaster if you don't get it from RL? Not taking the piss, honest question because I think I could take or leave the live pre/post match ramblings personally To be fair.,.. no i dont get a huge amount from pre match.. but as i mentioned, given the very limited info i get.. ANYthing is valuable, and certainly the post match usually makes interssting listening.
Jay Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 stringer is a complete prat and worse commentar rl have had his bias and just wish he does not come back . how quickly people forget I can't even remember the name of that sheep shagging goon who did it before Stringer but he was far far worse
Corky Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 how quickly people forget I can't even remember the name of that sheep shagging goon who did it before Stringer but he was far far worse Jon Barber.
Jay Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Jon Barber. that's him!! must have erased it from my memory he was shocking far worse than Stringer, when some of the commentators on national tv are rubbish, I fail to understand what some people expect from local radio
DarkTranquillity Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Personally, i like Stringer. He's passionate, excitable and most importantly, a fan. I want a bias comentry from him when i listen to RL! I can't afford to get to many away games, and i think he is fantastic to listen to!
stivesfox Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Hi I follow Ian Stringer on Twitter for LCFC info team news etc, he is normally quite chatty on club matters. Noticed he hasn't been about since Thursday, but myself been holiday noticed on Message boards problem between club and Radio Leicester! Any one fill me in on the gossip, putting 2&2 together presuming stringers been sacked?
Jonezy Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 So whats the deal? I like Stringer - is he sacked or what?

stivesfox Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Never could add up unit!! No seriously stringer is like constantly putting stuff on Twitter about lcfc business had nothing for days and I have been out of country so wondered what radio Leicester have done to piss the club off?

Read the 'Radio Leicester Banned' thread.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 So whats the deal? I like Stringer - is he sacked or what? Probably put on Gardening leave or something. (Joke) I doubt he'll get the sack, the thought of John Sinclair carrying RL solo isn't good. He's too boring.
kimbell Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 I really like Ian Stringer, I hope he comes back very soon.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 would be a shame if he gets sacked i only listen to the commentry caus he makes me laugh with some of the things he says.
stivesfox Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 I guess the person who does the club web pages is banned as I went on there Tuesday to get Cardiff team news and no team news was posted, and at least radio Leicester n stringer report quicker than www.lcfc that web page waste of space. Who banned stringer and radio Leicester? I like stringer passionate and quick with news from club
jerakin Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 If its the end of Stringer it's a real shame. The guy has passion and is a fan. If asking questions and reporting on what he sees is all he did, shame on LCFC. He's just doing his job. Bring back Stringer!
The Stig Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Sacking him would be very very harsh. If he's upsetting the club someone needs to have a quiet word and perhaps he needs to send an apology to the club for any offence he may have caused but nothing more. I'm sure he didn't mean to go and offend anyone. I think at times perhaps he's a tad cocky but that's my only negative with him. I like his commentary, love his passion for the club, like the news he gives in his tweets, he's what you want from a local radio commentator. I sincerely hope BBC Radio Leicester keep him after this.
Nick Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 My guess he'll calm down, have a think, then intravenously inject some humility into his eyes, get down on his knees, say his sorry and be forced to swallow whatever Nigel offers him in retort and he'll be back in the media room next week.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 how quickly people forget I can't even remember the name of that sheep shagging goon who did it before Stringer but he was far far worse Good point, I think the previous goon was John Barber who went off to Dubai or somewhere similar, probably been arrested over there for kissing a Derby fan in public.
lou Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 John Sinclair and Tim Flowers doing the commentary for tomorrows game
Koke Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 I'm intrigued to know what he exactly said to offend Nigel. i hope that goon get the sack for insulting his holiness the great messiah and emperor of mankind Nigel Pearson where a thousand babies are sacrificed to him daily in his honour.
Edmund Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 I'm intrigued to know what he exactly said to offend Nigel. I'm not entirely sure but someone mentioned something about him mentioning Pearson not being in his technical area against Derby and speculating on why he wasn't there although we now know it's because of a bad back. This started rumours that Pearson was off/unhappy etc. I reckon it's a combination of things and not just one separate incident. Stringer even said that Pearson gets pissed off with him because he keeps on pestering him about his contract renewal. Probably pushed him as far as he could go.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 John Sinclair and Tim Flowers doing the commentary for tomorrows game Thats better than Charlie Dagnall, great guy but he supports Burnley!!!!!!!!!

If that's the case, then it seems to be some petty stuff. Stringer is a journalist. It's his job to ask pushy questions. I know Nigel operates in a Lieutenant Colonel army style management, but it really reflects bad on him for getting pee'd off about non-entity things like this. It's part of being a manger to answer questions to the press - it comes with the job. I'll have to side with Stringer on this.
fleckneymike Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 The whole situation is pathetic. The club are largely responsible for the problems, by keeping everything in house it leaves nothing for the local press to do than speculate. This speculation then causes offence and the club withdraw yet more. If NFP and the club cannot cope with questions how would they cope with the national press if we were ever to reach the Premier league?
