Guest Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Yes, but I'm still really interested to know what type of curry she made last night. Well, if they can't get any post match audio, RL may well cover this to fill time. Stay tuned
marbelladave Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Funnily, I don't feel alienated at all. Maybe I'm showing my age, but I can remember the days when the only real coverage was in the Mockery, and that was crap, and City played second fiddle to the Tiggers on RL. For me, what happens on the pitch is the important thing. It's interesting to see that this player doesn't get on with that player, or that someone doesn't pull his weight in training, or whatever. But as long as they play well on a Saturday (or Friday, or Tuesday....), I couldn't really care less. It seems to me that these days, people want to know the ins and outs of every other bugger's lives, when there are more important things to worry about. Certainly performance is the most important thing, definitely agree with that. Keeping the media profile low (whist fulfilling the clubs contract obligations) is fine by me, it has kept us out of the spotlight despite having an outstanding season, Division one to Premiership contenders (even if we don't make it) in a year, fantastic. With regard to the fans I think Pearson and the club blow hot and cold. Pearson going to talk to our away fans during the warm up is great PR but it is easily undone by the lack of 'proper' information (about injuries for example) coming from the club so the media puts out rumour and speculation that is good for no one. Keeping fans away from regular training is fine by me, I could never get there anyway, but for those who like that kind of thing the occasional 'open' day where fans are welcome to watch training and get involved in a few 'treats' such as autograph sessions etc would probably please everyone.
BoneDog Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 No Stringer on radio today! Has he been disciplined for something?
unreachable Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 No Stringer on Monday either. Has he been sacked or suspended?
carterfox90 Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 No Stringer on Monday either. Has he been sacked or suspended? there must be something going on as they said he's not there on monday on the radio so my guess is nigels had him sacked for askin questions the fans wanted to hear which would be a poor show as he did wear his heart on his sleeve when commentating & i think it was good to have a real city fan behind the mike for a change surely we will hear soon enough has he not said owt on his twitter site??
CKB Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 No Stringer on Monday either. Has he been sacked or suspended? Maybe NP killed him?
dandannieldanok Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 To anyone who listened to RL today: Did they get an interview after the match with anyone from the club?
Edmund Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 To anyone who listened to RL today: Did they get an interview after the match with anyone from the club? Well with the thread title stating the obvious I'd think not, wouldn't you?
BoneDog Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Was John commentating on his own today then? I'd started to quite enjoy Stringers commentary. Him and John were pretty decent to listen to. I even liked Ian's fashion references halfway through a match "some bloke in a lovely big green hat and leopard skin scarf has just gone to pre-order his half-time pastie and Bovril". I will miss him if he has been sacked but it would also be nice to go back to having Walsh, Flowers, Piper etc. back to analysing with the commentator.
Matt Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 think it was daggers with him Playing Devil's Advocate every 5 minutes?
Anish Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 I was pretty sure Ian Stringer was sat in the away end today in the row in front of me, with his girlfriend. I would've asked him if he was actually Stringer but I presumed Stringer was in the commentary box so didn't want to look like a fool in front of a stranger!!
Guest Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Yes, but I'm still really interested to know what type of curry she made last night. Well, if they can't get any post match audio, RL may well cover this to fill time. Stay tuned I excluded the press from my kitchen; I didn't want the neighbours to find out in case the cheeky beggars wanted a piece of the action. They can be very demanding. With regard to the fans I think Pearson and the club blow hot and cold. Pearson going to talk to our away fans during the warm up is great PR but it is easily undone by the lack of 'proper' information (about injuries for example) coming from the club so the media puts out rumour and speculation that is good for no one.Keeping fans away from regular training is fine by me, I could never get there anyway, but for those who like that kind of thing the occasional 'open' day where fans are welcome to watch training and get involved in a few 'treats' such as autograph sessions etc would probably please everyone. My impression of Pearson is that he's a man who's comfortable dealing with the fans, but he has a distrust, so it seems, of the press. I've seen interviews he's given, and it's the little eyebrow raises etc that give me that impression. As for training, I think open days are a great way of giving the fans and the players an opportunity to interact. Things like this are always popular, and I am sure stuff like this has been done before. If not, it should be considered.
The Stig Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Interesting. Tweeted earlier on today, saying how optamistic he was about the game, then nothing since then. Something has gone on.
Craig Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 From Bentleys Roof... Stringer has been 'rested' ("taken off air") by his BBC bosses, actually by a more senior person to the manager at Radio Leicester. So for today's game and Monday's v QPR it'll be daggers and slinky..fooking hell, he weren't that bad, was he...
Anish Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 I think he's been given a few games off to appease those in power at the club, so that Radio Leicester can wriggle their way back in the press conferences and have access to the players/staff again. It's typical political b*llocks really, LCFC get in the hump about something done by Radio Leicester and Stringer's the fall guy. I personally think Stringer's done a decent job and has commentated with enthusiasm and passion, which is great for those of us who can't get to every game.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 April 2010 Posted 2 April 2010 Well with the thread title stating the obvious I'd think not, wouldn't you? Errr, they got banned from asking questions at the pre-match press conference, nothing was mentioned about post-match. I think it's time you blocked my posts.
ozleicester Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 You may not feel isolated and I certainly don't as my only contact with Radio Leicester and Stringer is to listen to the match commentary occasionally but there are plenty of people out there that do, housebound people some who find this their only contact point with LCFC. Let's remember also that as far as I'm aware it's LCFC that calls the press conferences and Mandaric certainly had no qualms about using the media in a less than honest way to help secure his purchase of LCFC, to whip up ticket sales, to tease the fans with his wishful signings and to sweeten his character prior to his up coming court case. I'm personally not bothered but it still strikes me as a completely childish gesture and I find it a disappointing response from a man I've grown to respect and a club that's in my blood. As a fan who's only option to get information is via the media(or the ahahahaha OS), this kind of action by the club is pi$$ poor. I dont care if Stringer has said something out of place, NP is paid to be the manager and part of that role in this day is to be media accessible. Smacks of pressure and nerves. Oh and ive enjoyed stringers commentary this year much better than that prat in previous years.

I understand the commentary angle but do you really get that much from pre/post match comments that it's a massive disaster if you don't get it from RL? Not taking the piss, honest question because I think I could take or leave the live pre/post match ramblings personally
Babylon Posted 3 April 2010 Author Posted 3 April 2010 Errr, they got banned from asking questions at the pre-match press conference, nothing was mentioned about post-match. I think it's time you blocked my posts. Stringer wasn't granted interviews after the Cardiff game and Radio Leicester we're today banned from asking questions at the press conference. Looks like Stringer has really pissed someone off.
OzFox Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 I've worked with BBC journalists for most of my career. Many of them are arrogant, egotistical, vain, insecure and thick as a plank. Given the choice I wouldn't want them anywhere near me and Nige obviously feels the same. Good on him.
teblin Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Non of this would be happening if we'd just won 4 in a row.
