davieG Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 How come it seems to allowed at almost every other ground when a team is promoted but vigorously restricted at LCFC?
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Why would you want to when we can clap along to Rockin' all over the World?
Matt Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Because it's naughty, and we'll all get arrested and lifetime bans. And League One was below us...it'd have been embarressing to celebrate in such a way at winning League One
lcfc"weasel" Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 I completely agree, the last game of last season would have been much improved if we were able to go on the pitch and celebrate amongst the players and the staff. Also, it annoyed me a hell of a lot when I saw West Brom fans were allowed to celebrate on the pitch at Doncaster last week.
Salieri Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 I think its very sad if the fans aren't allowed on the pitch to celebrate promotion. Saw the scenes from Spotland earlier, thousands of Rochdale fans on the pitch celebrating going up, and who can blame them after waiting over 40 years for one! If a large proportion of the fans want to get on the pitch to celebrate, then it's gotta be pretty hard to stop them.

This is exactly how I feel, if there is a large portion of fans on the pitch, they aren't going to be able to nick all of you are they?
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Would people be willing to do it if we secure playoffs? I mean it aint guaranteed promotion. However I would love it. Always want someone to run on and then everyone else to follow. Hopefully at the m'boro game
dimmerchant Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 The club aren't going to promote it or actively let you, but if you can get enough on then there isn't much they can do. Against Scunny last season, there was only L1 making an obvious effort to get on. Everybody needs to make a move.

Hopefully at the m'boro game Definitely don't think it should be done 'just' for securing a Play Off spot, that'd look a bit sad i reckon.

Yeah thats what im sayin .. We have no chance at Wembley because not even Millwall managed to make it to the pitch when they scored. Nor anyone else ive seen in the playoff final. Preston is possible, Just need everyone to do it otherwise a few fans doing it may be arrested.
CosbehFox Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 How come it seems to allowed at almost every other ground when a team is promoted but vigorously restricted at LCFC? Notts County and Norwich didn't do. It's mostly the older grounds where it's more difficult to police. Ala today with Spotland and Aggborough. As for this invasion for the playoffs nonsense, please stop.

I wasn't suggested we should do it just wondering about the inequality, a bloke runs on the pitch and gets banned for a year or more, fans are threatened with sanctions if the go on and celebrate yet we see several thousand invade the pitch with seemingly no attempt to stop them, in fact it's treated as a good news story.

Totally agree and the suggestion comment wasn't aimed at you.

Not every clubs fans will do it, no doubt notts county probably had announcements etc....Puts a lot of fans off, but theres little you can do to stop it if enough fans are willing. Oh and BTW West brom fans had a pitch invasion at one of the newest grounds.

The Walkers is a new ground and with new grounds comes a new imputus on stewarding, policing and general security. If you've got some rickety old ground where the fans are basically already on top of the pitch to begin with it's not going to take much for them to flee on en masse. It's also worth noting that Rochdale haven't been promoted in about a bzillion years and have only tasted any sort of success or happiness about twice in their history. The pent up emotion there must have been massive, far more so than our prawn sandwich brigade at being promoted from a division we steamrolled and really shouldn't have been in in the first place. Also, agreed, pitch invasion for getting in the play offs? Grow up.
Ozwin Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Pitch invasion at Wembley, now that's something to get the goosebumps going.
Fosse Boy Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 It's just a question of having strength in numbers. If enough were willing to do it at Leicester then they'd be able to. Simple.
AyewJoking Posted 18 April 2010 Posted 18 April 2010 Wouldn't advise it at Wembley though, you'd slip and do your ankle.

Bobbins. Loads of fans have gone on the pitch in new build grounds. Here's Swansea somehow managing to break through the impenetrable stewarding, policing and general security. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWOv6Ps5nIc Derby Plenty of others done it too, Hull, Stoke etc etc. More about bollocks rather than the extra metre to the pitch than at an older ground.
Shrenchel Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Geordies make it on the pitch at a bowl that isnt even theirs. Must have super powers.
Ozwin Posted 19 April 2010 Posted 19 April 2010 Anyone think it's a bit sad to invade a pitch when you were expected to walk the league anyway? Suppose it's a trophy at the end of the day, just seems a bit beneath them.
Tommeh Posted 20 April 2010 Posted 20 April 2010 Geordies make it on the pitch at a bowl that isnt even theirs. Must have super powers. That is a fvcking brilliant sight, fantastic stuff. Hoping that if we can secure a play-off place at Preston I'll be able to save the finances and stay up here for Wednesday - Palace, where as it stands winner will stay up. The chance to invade Hillsboroughs pitch if they stay up is very appealing. Can't see it ever happening at Filbert Way, the police and steward numbers in front of L1 at the scunny game were insane and that's realistically the only area with the bottle to get on.
