lcfc81 Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 So we have managed to make the playoffs with a game to spare. As it stands we can either play Cardiff or Forest. I would prefer Cardiff personally as I worry about how we got mauled at the city ground earlier in the season. Also feel that Cardiff have been quite lucky against us at their place, and that luck must run out at some point. Who do you want and why?
lcfc81 Posted 24 April 2010 Author Posted 24 April 2010 I missed a few word out of the thread title! Doh, It was supposed to say who would you want and why!!
Salieri Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 We're gonna be playing Cardiff in the semis. Barring a miracle.

Salieri Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Actually maybe you're right, wouldnt be a huge surprise if Forest lost to Scunny and Cardiff beat Derby. In answer to your question, i'd defo rather face Forest over two legs than Cardiff.
ScouseFox Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 With Forest's away form, I'd rather play them. Get a lead, then defend like fook.

Interesting, I worry about Forest after they mauled us at their place, I suppose it comes down to a question of whether we have learnt the lessons of that day.

I think we've come a long way since that mauling at the City Ground and could get a draw there now and batter them at home. Unfortunately it would be the home leg first which isnt ideal.
Nick Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Cardiff - every time. The reason being that they have less surprises and less pace. To beat Forest the whole team have to play as an impregnable unit, closing down and man to man marking - I'd rather do this for 90 minutes fuelled on atmosphere and adrenalin than 180 mins over two legs, also risking going in to a 'shoot out' with Forest who have far better penalty takers than Cardiff in numbers.
CKB Posted 24 April 2010 Posted 24 April 2010 Ahhh just the thought of all this play-off talk is getting my nerves up! ummmm i don't care can we just win them and i'll be happy
MPH Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 it will either provide the biggest heartache or the sweetest victory.... but it has to be Forest in the final...
carterfox90 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 we have a chance of beating cardiff over 2 legs & a even better chance of beating forest over 1 at wembley well done for effort the boys have put in all season :appl:
MC Prussian Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Of course, as it stands, Cardiff first - then F"*çest in the final, preferrably. Which would have A Cinderella Story written all over it.
atw88 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Beat us over two legs? . Results say otherwise. We're the form team, soz.
ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 What's this poll all about? It's not a matter of "whom would you like to play in the semis" as three teams are already set and Cardiff already confirmed as our playoff opposition. Of course, as it stands, Cardiff first - then F"*çest in the final, preferrably. Which would have A Cinderella Story written all over it. Cardiff are only 2 points behind Forest with a game still to play - so we could still play either side. For me personally, I'd rather play Forest in the semis. As fantastic as their home form is, their away form is woeful. Also I won't be able to make a Wednesday night game in Cardiff.
The Doctor Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Beat us over two legs? . Results say otherwise. We're the form team, soz. and yet we beat you at our place and missed out on a point at your place because of that goal from the corner not being given despite the replays showing that it was over.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Definitely Cardiff as yes they have less surprise and pace, plus I personally feel they are lucky to be there as I don't really rate them - based on what I've seen of them. They remind me of the old Pompey team of '93 who we faced - a good workman like team... then again they do have Joe Ledley back now.

I already had F*çest on 79 points and my mind set on a Leicester - Cardiff semi, then a Leicester - Nottingham final @ Wembley.
Tilley Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Forest. 1) Forest are really poor away. 2) We've improved no end since being hammered 5-1 at their place. 3) I don't fancy our chances of travelling to Cardiff on a Wednesday night and getting a result. 4) IF we got past Forest, I better our chances of beating Cardiff in a one off match at Wembley than I do over two legs. 5) I'm selfish and due to work I couldn't make Cardiff away but I could make Forest away. So next weekend I hope Cardiff win and Forest lose.
Ultra Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Cardiff. I'd be quite happy defending a lead at their place. Let Ollie and DJ take care of Forest..

Hmm, unbeaten in 10 winning 7 of those, all pretty hard games like yourselves, Forest, Swansea and teams fighting for their lives like Wednesday and Palace. Pace? You obviously haven't seen Etuhu or Burke at his best. That's not to say we have our weaknesses by any means, defensively (like yesterday) we have our moments. But what they hey, playoffs are all about having no fear I suppose.
adamkhalifa Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Ideal scenario Leicester to play Cardiff. Put McGivern (Gets sent off, so we never see him again) on for the last 30 seconds to injure Wittingham and Chopra before we go over there. Cardiff although very strong at home, wont be able to function without the injured players. Blackpool (Form team after Reading) DJ to lumberjack, the tree hugger's. We play Blackpool without DJ, because he can't play against the parent club. (Not to sure if there is a clause in the contract) And Ollie lets us win, for being our worst manger in the clubs history Job Done Fancy Leicester chances to stay up because of Stoke, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham. Champions league following season.
Webbo Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 You obviously haven't seen Etuhu He used to play for us.
