dandannieldanok Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Forest. 1) Forest are really poor away. 2) We've improved no end since being hammered 5-1 at their place. 3) I don't fancy our chances of travelling to Cardiff on a Wednesday night and getting a result. 4) IF we got past Forest, I better our chances of beating Cardiff in a one off match at Wembley than I do over two legs. So next weekend I hope Cardiff win and Forest lose. Exactly why I want Forest instead of Cardiff too. I fear Cardiff more and I too reckon we'd have a better chance to beat them in one game rather than two.
Guest Bilo Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I'm not sure I fancy meeting Forest in the semis for the simple reason that they're as good at home as they are awful away. If we only beat them by the odd goal at the Walkers rather than the 3-0 stuffing we dealt out in February, you'd have to be a brave man to back against them turning it around at a packed and noisy City Ground. I do believe we'd beat them at the Walkers, based purely on our respective form, but the City Ground would be a very tough place to go in the second leg. I'd fancy Blackpool to beat Forest though, purely because of the psychological factor of Blackpool having already done the double over them.
purpleronnie Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 So we have managed to make the playoffs with a game to spare. As it stands we can either play Cardiff or Forest. I would prefer Cardiff personally as I worry about how we got mauled at the city ground earlier in the season. Also feel that Cardiff have been quite lucky against us at their place, and that luck must run out at some point. Who do you want and why? Cardiff definately, but I'm got a feeling cardiff will finish 3rd and we'll have to play forest which is the last team I would want to play despite our comfortable home win. If swansea make it I would have prefered playing them as they really struggle to score goals...but we wont be playing them, next choice would be cardiff I think we deserved something when we played their earlier in the season and we beat them at home. Blackpool would be next as they can blow hot and cold. So its in the balance we could either play IMO the worst team for us Forest or possibly the best team for us Cardiff.
demon_dog Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Nearly everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that Blackpool are in the final play off spot at the moment. Couldn't think of anything worse than losing out to a manager we sacked for taking us into the the abyss for the first time in our history. Would hate to think he could stick two fingers up to us if they were to gain promotion at our expense. I don't really care who we play as long as we win the remaining games and return to the promised land.
Lillehamring Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Beat us over two legs? . Results say otherwise. We're the form team, soz. Home BP - 5 1 0 - 15-4 NF - 5 1 0 - 10-0 CC - 4 2 0 - 11-6 LE - 4 1 1 - 15-5 Away CC - 3 1 2 - 5-5 BP - 3 0 3 - 10-12 LE - 3 0 3 - 5-7 NF - 0 1 5 - 5-14 so, um, i'd say that Blackpool are the form team, our figures are spoilt by having a really bad run in the middle of our last 12 games... in fact, in a two leg situation, forest are probably the worst on current form, despite being hard to beat/score against at home, they aren't really scoring enough (they actually failed to score in one game, as did cardiff), which wouldn't appear to be enough to compensate for the 2nd worst current away form in the championship. so, my head would say forest in the semis, but my heart says, forest in the final either way, i think blackpool could be the biggest threat,
maddog Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Forest to reduce travel costs to the away leg. Although Forest at Wembley would be special. Either way both teams will be tough to win over 2 legs.
Guest Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 How can any Leicester supporter NOT want to beat Forest at Wembley to return to the prem and doom them to the championship again?
davieG Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 The only team I'd like to avoid, assuming we can get to Wembley is Blackpool, not because of DJ or that I'm afraid of them but to avoid the media circus and the potential farce it will become. With football taking 2nd place to personalities.
Lillehamring Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 just checked over the contenders records in playoff competitions, and all the teams have some experience. again, not a forest speciality LCFC 92 CCC lost in final 93 CCC lost in final 94 CCC won in final 96 CCC won in final NFFC 03 CCC lost in semis 07 L1 lost in semis BFC 96 L1 lost in semis 07 L1 won in final 91 L2 lost in final 01 L2 won in final CCFC 03 L1 won in final 97 L2 lost in semis SCFC 06 L1 lost in final 88 L2 won in final 97 L2 lost in final 99 L2 lost in semis
deepbluedevil Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Just have a sense that Cardiff are the most dangerous, and so if we can avoid them, all the better
Tilley Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Cardiff are definitely the most dangerous side in the play-offs, anyone wanting to play them must be deluded. Forest, as hard as it'll be, is a much easier tie.
Mav Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Forest definitely. Hammer them at our place and nick a draw at there place. Easy.
lcfc_jme Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Losing in the playoffs is difficult to take against a team you're non-plussed about, so losing to Forest in the playoffs, especially at Wemberlee, would be incomprehensible. Cardiff are a frightening prospect because they could easily have snatched a point at our place and the way they apparently mullered us in the first half at theirs it could've been a repeat of the Forest away scoreline. Forest are hideous because aside from the psychological aspect of already getting murdered at their place, it'd be a "heated" local derby and the pressure to win would be upped immensely. Blackpool really don't seem like they want to lose at the minute and play probably the best football of the sides in the playoffs. Evidently they'd be without DJ were we to play them. Charlie Adam is a right fcking handful though, absolute nightmare player and has been 1 of the standout players in the league this time around. Has amassed 13 yellows this season; would any yellows picked up in the playoffs see him banned? If I had to pick one for the semis, it'd probably just be Cardiff, as we actually played better away at their place than we did away at Forest, and we've beaten them at home as well. Blackpool minus DJ and Adam in the final is nowhere near as frightening as Blackpool with those two. Ideal scenario would be us playing Blackpool minus those two in the final, really.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Cardiff. We have played them 3 times already and the results in Wales were unlucky, so I fancy us to get one there this time. Forest in the final would be an easier game anyway.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I'd love forest in the final. But Blackpool could do them over I think. We could beat cardiff, and then if we get Blackpool in the final, No DJ, just Charlie Adam to worry about!
Jodranadinho Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 As proven this season, we can be unpredictable against forest, so its Cardiff for me.
C-man Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 How can any Leicester supporter NOT want to beat Forest at Wembley to return to the prem and doom them to the championship again? Because they fear being beaten by them in the most important game in the club's history? Losing in the play-offs will be heartbreaking anyway but Forest in the final, fvck me I wouldn't kick a ball all summer. I'll say Forest in the semi's for atmospherical, locational, stadium preferential and financial reasons. Also means I wouldn't have to miss any important lectures whereas I'd miss a load for Cardiff. I'd settle for a night out in Cardiff though. In terms of football, I have to say I don't think either of Cardiff and Forest are any more 'frightening' than the other.
Guest Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 As proven this season, we can be unpredictable against forest, so its Cardiff for me. Well we've beaten and been beaten by all the teams in or in contention for the playoffs except Blackpool. Doesn't fuss me who we get in semis
leicesterseddon Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Got to be Cardiff. Strong at home but I'd fancy us to do better there than at the City Groud where our record is awful. Forest comprehensively outplayed us for the whole game at their place this season, and when we played them at home they were much, much better than the 3-0 scoreline suggested. Cardiff in comparison were strong at home but beatable, and actually quite poor (well, I thought) when we played them at the Walkers. Both will be tough to play though.
CosbehFox Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Cardiff. I swore after the league I wanted them as we were robbed of at least a point at that game.
Corky Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 Because they fear being beaten by them in the most important game in the club's history? I'd love it (Keegan-style) if we beat them but the fear of losing to them is too great for my liking.
Joe. Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 There's not much in it for me really, two very good sides who have the abilities to cause us all sorts of problems. But I'd still stick with Cardiff, just about. The prospect of facing Forest in the final is also too much to turn down.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 i've changed my mind. Forest in the semi's because if we lost to them in the final, they would have bragging rights for decades.
FoxyPV Posted 25 April 2010 Posted 25 April 2010 I feel we've a better chance of beating Forest over two legs than Cardiff (due to their atrocious away form) but I think that we are regaining our form again at the best possible time. Beat Forest in the semis and then Blackpool in the final (and let DJ play just so he'll be on the pitch when they lose)
