sdb Posted 3 June 2010 Posted 3 June 2010 Who's going to win and why? Spain Who's your Roughie? Argentina Top team that will struggle? Portugal Golden Boot Winner? Villa Player of the Tournament? Maicon
Bugg Posted 3 June 2010 Posted 3 June 2010 Who's going to win and why? Spain, they have probably the best side in the world at the moment. Who's your Roughie? Ivory Coast Top team that will struggle? Argentina, Maradona seems absolutely hopeless with his team selection so i think they won't do well. Golden Boot Winner? Heskey , Seriously though I think Villa will get it. Player of the Tournament? Xavi
Fox92 Posted 5 June 2010 Posted 5 June 2010 I rekon Argentina will win it if the manager stays cool and they manage to keep him calm or something. There strikefore is sensational, who do you pick from players like Aguero, Tevez, Milito, Messi, Higuian etc I was going to put a bet on Ivory Coast but no Drogba is injured no way. England arn't strong enough, we only have two World Class players, Italy are slightly old now so I'll go with my first option of Argentina. Don't really watch any other football besides the England leagues so I'm really excited about watching Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Holland and the flamboyant Spain. Picking the top goalscorer will be hard. This is why I am not going to bet on this particular option. Messi? Villa? Van Persie? Torres? E'to? Ronaldo? There is quite a few to pick from. Still, Argentina for me.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 June 2010 Posted 8 June 2010 I truly hope my beloved ITALY win it. England are no hopers! They are this. :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:
PAULCFC Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 I truly hope my beloved ITALY win it. England are no hopers! They are this. :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: Whatever!Don't think England are no hopers..... and if i knew you i'd wager you that we would go a bit further than the iti dad's army.
morris1234 Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 bit late but oh well.... winners: spain. the best midfield in the competition with lethal strikers. slight worry in defence but casillas will show his class once again. roughie: usa. showed they are no mugs after pushing brazil as far as they did and have players that have performed really well in the league for their clubs. strugglers: argentina. too much pressure, dont think they are physical enough to win it. messi has to step up for them to have a chance but he will be targeted. we shall see. top scorer: david villa. closely followed by rvp. i think its going to be a holland spain final. player of the tounament: xavi. nuff said!
Tilley Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 England vs Brazil in one semi final and Argentina vs Spain in the other.
Fox92 Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 England vs Brazil in one semi final and Argentina vs Spain in the other. Thats exactly what I predicted, and then Argentina v Brazil final. Seeing as I'm 18 now, had a couple of bets although I don't think, after watching Argentina, Higuin will score many. Then again, its only the first game and remember Gary Lineker didn't score until the third game - I think. Anyway, I've had Argentina to win and Higuin top goalscorer @ 66/1, Argentina v Brazil final @ 14/1 and Brazil to win and Fabiano top goalscorer @ 22/1. If my predictions are correct, I could win quite a lot. Didn't know who to have as top goalscorer - Tevez @ 100/1, Aguero @ 66/1, E'to @ 50/1, the list goes on... Higuin missed two chances in the earlier match today, couldn't believe it.
Mee Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 $Who's going to win and why? England - Optimism Who's your Roughie? Ivory Coast - I can just see them doing well. Top team that will struggle? France. Golden Boot Winner? Luis Fabiano. Player of the Tournament? Messi
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 Who's going to win and why? England are long overdue a title and they have the right mix of players at the right age this time around. Argentina. Who's your Roughie? Chile - as much as it hurts from my perspective, but they have a very talented squad that has slipped a lot of people's radar. My dark horse in this year's competition. Cheating bastards. My money's now on, yes, a team located only 500 miles further East. Top team that will struggle? France - no team spirit, heartless displays in the past. Overaged squad, as well. And their coach is a c*ck. Golden Boot Winner? Rooney Thomas Mueller Player of the Tournament? Messi - the most threatening player of his generation. Carries the Argentine attack and can single-handedly decide the outcome of a game. EDIT: I see I got at least one prediction right.

This shows the English squad is a year older on average than the French one (calculations done pre-Rio injury). Incidentally, the French starting XI had an average age of 27,5 while the just announced English XI is 27,8. Who's overaged?

I just stated that to me personally, the French had an overaged squad overall - I wasn't making a comparison to England at all.
shen Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 I don't know what you're on about. I just stated that to me personally, the French had an overaged squad overall - I wasn't making a comparison to England at all. But how can France's squad be "overaged" when England's older squad "has the right age"? If you mean the French players aren't hungry enough for success, then that's another matter...
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 But how can France's squad be "overaged" when England's older squad "has the right age"? If you mean the French players aren't hungry enough for success, then that's another matter... For the last time: France and England are two separate matters. I simply stated that England has the right mix of players at the right age. Full stop. And that France has an overaged squad. Would you please stop making connections between my two separate statements that I've given to two different questions.

And I'm curious to hear why you judge the French to be 'too old' while the English are 'just right' Sorry for wanting to discuss an opinion of yours
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 I think I'm better off watching England thrash the US now.
Edmund Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 Who's going to win and why? Spain, Fabregas can't even get into their starting eleven. They have strength in depth plus Villa and Torres are probably the deadliest partnership in the tournament. Who's your Roughie? Portugal, they have some great individual players Top team that will struggle? England, to much pressure on the players from our fans who think we are world beaters. Golden Boot Winner? David Villa or Torres Player of the Tournament? Ronaldo 3/5 isn't bad
Jimothy Posted 11 July 2010 Posted 11 July 2010 3/5 isn't bad Technically Muller won the Golden Boot.
The Doctor Posted 12 July 2010 Posted 12 July 2010 Who's going to win and why? Spain - them and brazil are the best teams in the WC by a distance Who's your Roughie? Probably Mexico - they usually do okay but i can see them nicking quaters or even semis. I think Honduras & Ivory Coast to suprise a few though (mainly be reaching the knockout rounds ahead of much stronger teams in Switzerland & Chile & Portugal Top team that will struggle? Are france still a top team? if not then italy Golden Boot Winner? David Villa Player of the Tournament? difficult - Xavi & Iniesta are quality but i think both are injured - Iniesta if he's fit otherwise probably Rooney. 2/5 (though should be 3 since it's as much villas golden boot as muellers)
Wymsey Posted 12 July 2010 Posted 12 July 2010 Had to laugh at the fact that New Zealand were the only unbeaten side. This can now mean Neilson and Kermie will be our best performers and in the end of season team of the Championship.
Sparky Posted 12 July 2010 Posted 12 July 2010 Who's going to win and why? Spain, monkey off thier back now they won a tournament, Technically the best side IMO Who's your Roughie? Ivory Coast Top team that will struggle? France Golden Boot Winner? David Villa Player of the Tournament? Wesley Snijeder Quite happy with those predictions on the whole, Ivory Coast apart
