Callabinho Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Quite why City fans rate Tunchev so highly is a mystery to me. They seem to have a fetish for foreign names when it comes to rating folk. In fact anyone foreign gets special consideration - shit or otherwise. Hell, I can still remember people calling for Kaebi, Laczko, various other foreigners including a so-called goalkeeper at the time then, later, we had The Cormorant (one goal in how many), honestly the list is endless if I could be bothered looking. Tunchev is a stylish footbaler whose main asset is his calm, cultured distribution, his reading of situations and his ability to get a block in. Against that he's never marked close enough for my liking, was taken apart by the movement of Kevin Phillips in a friendly against Birmingham and looks vulnerable both to the physical demands of English football as his injuries might suggest and to being run at. But no matter ... just like Pearson, who finished fifth and, with 61 league goals, produced a basically cagey side that never got us near the total of 75 goals I said we'd need for automatic promotion at the start of the season, Tunchev's somehow Premiership quality in some people's eyes. Tea bag.
Ultra Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Tunch didn't just perform for us - he looked class while playing for Bulgaria too, including one game against world champions Italy. Yes, he's been out a long time, but other players (Steve Walsh springs to mind) recovered successfully from similar injuries and there's every chance he can do likewise.
Flynny Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 To be honest I'm most worried about Thracian moaning about us not scoring enough after a fucking fantastic season. Christ on a bike.
Koke Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 In fact anyone foreign gets special consideration - shit or otherwise.Hell, I can still remember people calling for Kaebi, Laczko, various other foreigners including a so-called goalkeeper at the time then, later, we had The Cormorant (one goal in how many), honestly the list is endless if I could be bothered looking. Only reason people were calling for those lot to get a game was to see them play. We had absolute no idea of their ability other than a few YouTube clips, so people were eager to see them. It's not like we were blessed with midfield maestros and fluid attackers. Players like Elvis, Big Barry and Casino Jimmy were only used in the sarcastic humoristic sense. Elvis, to this day, is a bit of a cult figure to some. Anyway, apart from Bruno Berner, our strongest 11 is fully British. Not bad at all.
ozleicester Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He could potentially be a great player for us, buit that's it.............potentially!! He was astute in L1, but there's no proof of him as yet that he is champ class, although he does have the attributes!! I'm not one for bum chuming potentials, we all will have to just wait and see!! Chav?
Rocky Dennis Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Bit patroninsing for anyone to suggest that an International Defender only has 'potential' isnt it?? He has class, the fact he hasnt been able to demonstrate that for us above League 1 level does not mean he doesnt have it

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 I fear for Tunchev. If he doesnt come back by pre-season, I fear he never will. Come back soon Tunch!

Fox You Forest Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Love the way this line has been translated... "Leicester City has a chance to qualify for the Premier League. Is it real, what do you think?"

Fox You Forest Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 What's wrong with the translation? Nothing pal, it's fine, that line just made me laugh.
poopbutt Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 What's wrong with the translation? i'll go with 'is it real' for 10, alex.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Ha, got in a taxi the other night after a few beers, cabby startin tellin us how i was sitting in the seat Tunch was in a few weeks ago and he took him somewhere, He reckons he'll be back next season. Although he was full of bull shat mind, also reckoned his mate was Milan Mandarics personal chauffeur
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 That interview contains some classic translations. It could almost have been written in a Bulgarian accent!!! On a serious note, fingers crossed that Tunch will make a full and speedy recovery. Ok we've not seen him properly or consistently tested at this level yet but from everything I have seen from him personally since he has been at the club he looks like a class act and I'm confident he can step up to play in the Championship next year and possibly higher in the future. Come on Tunch!
flanimal Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 That interview contains some classic translations. I'm confident he can step up to play in the Championship next year and possibly higher in the future. People forget that Tunchev has played at international level. He's quality.
Jimmy Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 People forget that Tunchev has played at international level. He's quality. WAS quality with a serious injury like he's had and the fact he's basically been out for 18 months he might not be able to play to the same level as before
Narborough_fox Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 What serious injury! You mean TWO DIFFERENT serious injuries, yes I would be worried if it was the same knee but it isn't. HE WILL BE BACK!
Jimmy Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 its the same knee, it got infected hence the second operation and then the infection didn't go hence a THIRD
Ozwin Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Give him a chance, he hasn't even played yet and you lot are writing him off.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 No as he injured his right knee at Palace and then his Left at Preston!
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 Short memories people. Kaamark came back, arguably better, from a serious injury. So can the Tunch.
