eaststandtom Posted 18 July 2010 Posted 18 July 2010 Waghorn scored 12 goals last season put %110 effort in every game and showed love and dedication to Leicester, Kermo on the other hand scored 1 goal didn't always give %100 and didn't show any love to Leicester, Waghorn will go down as a bit of a cult hero for the dedication showed. disagree. yann always seemed to try. things just didnt happen. ultimately he is responsible but there is ability there. waghorn will be fondly remembered by me included but it was the absence of fryatt which kick started him and that was in february. up until then he was definitely not worthy of first choice in my eyes
Sylvie85 Posted 18 July 2010 Posted 18 July 2010 I like kermo, obviously because of the way he took the penalty it made him an easy target to blame. From what i saw of him last season he seemed decent, he has a good first touch and the appearances that i saw him in he won alot of decent ball in the air, his flick ons weren't just head and hope they were to players or into space that players were already moving into, i just felt he read the game well. The only worry i do have, having seen him in clips on you tube is that he seems to have put on quite a bit of weight since he was banging them in for reims. I hope he gets off to a good start this season however i'm not sure midfield is his position. There we go, not sure if i've contradicted myself enough in this post!!

Yann started one game as a striker last season and scored one goal. 100% strike record! I like him and think he could still be a star for us. He has vision, skill and versatility in abundance. The best is yet to come!

He's not yet proven his worth, but hasn't had many opportunities - and when he has had opportunities, he's looked promising: some classy passes, shooting ability (when he plucks up the courage to try), outstanding in the air - and even quite decent work rate and tackling back, despite some people's comments. If Sousa does opt for passing football and a 4-5-1 formation, I could see him (or Gallagher) fitting in well as the central attacking midfielder, in the hole behind Fryatt or whoever the striker was. I definitely see him more as a deep-lying striker or attacking midfielder than an outright striker. Like Gallagher, he's probably not consistently mobile enough to play centre midfield under a 4-4-2 set-up, though. We could argue forever about the penalty. Bottom line is: he had the guts to stand up and take one, chose how to take it, but didn't execute it well enough. That's unfortunate, to say the least, but would it really have been better if he'd blasted it over the bar or gone for placement and got it too close to the keeper? I also suspect he wouldn't be getting so much criticism if he'd been English, not French...

marbelladave Posted 20 July 2010 Posted 20 July 2010 OK, that'll do! Yanni strikes me as one of those French forwards who does not actually score a lot of goals. Strangely I am not saying that in a bad way, I see him more as a support player who will knit the play together in forward areas and create chances for others. Once playing regularly I'm sure he will get his share of goals but not the 20+ we expect of a main striker (like Fryatt). If we develop the much anticipated passing style I can see him filling one of the attacking midfield roles in some variant of 4-5-1. Sousa has already tried him in the wide right position and although clearly not a traditional winger could be effective getting forward and cutting inside to threaten the box. As I have said many times over the last couple of years, it is all about getting the best out of the players you do have, much more productive than wishing for players you can't afford!

Yes he wasn't awful but did he actually do anything at all good or bad?.............especially if you begin to compare with Howard's performance against Cardiff in a bigger pressure game. If Sousa is going to keep him then we need to see a lot more from Kermorgant because he's been mediocre at very best since his arrival. We won't be in the promotion picture with mediocre performers.

davieG Posted 20 July 2010 Posted 20 July 2010 You may not have to worry much longer as it would appear Yann Kermorgant, will be off to France tomorrow to find a new club thought to be a year long loan. Seems like for personal reasons he is keen to make this happen.

Seems like for personal reasons he is keen to make this happen. Well hopefully they'll be paying his wages, otherwise this signing has been a complete disaster for the club. It seemed a strange one at the time but people were too busy milking themselves over his youtube clips.
