Lillehamring Posted 25 June 2010 Posted 25 June 2010 i like yann, and i supported him heartily throughout last season, when a hell of a lot of people on here were slating him. after the penalty almost everyone on here hated him and were acting like he raped babies - his part in our lack of success was tough to take but not premeditated as many on here seemed to imply in the heat of the moment. some of the things said were vicious and, if he'd read them, i'm not surprised he just wanted to get away from it all. last season, by all accounts he trained hard and made a contribution when he came on, even out of position; that is all we can ask of a leicester city player. a lot of people were quite pleased to have him act as a scapegoat to make the loss at cardiff easier to bare - afterall, he's french and he hadn't played that much. his only mistake trying to do something inspired and the goalie guessing right, hardly enough to warrant some of the hyperbole thrown at him, not to mention the headlines in the world press that effectively placed the responsibility on his head and his head only. thankfully, the sensible posters on here have had time to reflect and are now a lot more pragmatic and considered in their judgements, being prepared to forgive and forget. given the responses of such a high proportion of city fans, it is no wonder yann fears the reaction he will get, i said at the time it will be inevitable he will be booed and in the words of a certain mr rooney: 'booed by your own fans, how's that for loyalty'. furthermore, i don't believe he should feel the need to apologise, what he did was reckless and audacious, but such characteristics are what make the best players great, something that we rarely see down the walkers. people will say that he picked the wrong time to do it, but if it felt natural for him to do it then it may have gone just as wrong if he'd tried something safer but more unnatural - some penalties are unstoppable others go in because the goalie gets it wrong, equally most penalties are saved because the goalie has guessed right regardless of the quality of the shot. penalties are a lottery, yann made a decision and stuck to it, why should he apologies for that - on the day, the goalie didn't commit to a big dive as so many of them do, if he'd done that yann could have stroked it in with his Johnson... who knows? but if he comes back after the contumely thrown at him, then i say fair play, after all if he can come back after cancer (or whatever it was), a few brainless leicester fans who just live to boo, shouldn't be much of a problem for him

If I was in his shoes, I'd be keeping my head down and aiming to do as much possible to help banish the memory of that penalty, not giving interviews about how he feels. I agree with this. Think its harsh that no-one has even bothered to get in touch, but on the other hand... The guys a pro 'goalscorer',. And as he already knows, he put himself in this sh*t...if he can't deal with confidence problems in the long run, then he isn't a good striker.

I'm not suggesting he is, I'm suggesting certain people who find it hard to bury the hatchet will place further blame on him, In the fact that if he scored that penaltly and if ultimatly we got promoted Pearson would have stayed. As I said I am not blaming Kermorgant but I will admit and I said at the time my worry about losing in the playoff would lead to us losing Pearson, I didn't expect us to lose Pearson so soon and certainly not to Hull but did fear we'd lose him due to not gaining promotion. **All of this is if we actually do lose Pearson.**

Grow up, get behind him and forgive the guy. He's survived leukaemia, chose to come here rather than stay in France on abetter contract. The club need to support him, so do the fans. He had the bottle to take a penalty. The management should have told all the takers to welly it. Over 2 legs (and possibly the season) Cardiff were the better side. We lost it in first leg, got lucky in second and I can't blame on eplayer for the SF defeat. Get behind him next season and send some support messages to him and the rest of the team.

nuttytimmy Posted 25 June 2010 Posted 25 June 2010 I'm glad to read a lot of the support for Yann on here - and I'm sure it would lighten his heart at what must be the most depressing close season for him. I feel ashamed to be a Leicester City fan when I read that one of our players - a guy that pulls on our royal blue - fears a backlash from the fans. It is absolutely right that if and when whoever is at the helm next season calls on Yann to play, we should all get behind him 100%. And I hope he scores thirty next year.

There's no value in scapegoating him for the Cardiff defeat, our failure to get promoted, Pearson leaving, the weather or anything else. He played well enough at Cardiff once he came on, and he had the balls to take a penalty. Good enough for me. The idea that his penalty was 'arrogant' is a media invention. It was a mistake, but its something he does, apparently with some regularity. If the keeper had gone the other way, or not got a hand up to save it, we'd have been thanking him for taking us to Wembley. Those are the breaks, and I'm more than a little embarrassed and angry at the way some City fans seem to be always on the look-out for a scapegoat.

Tried a clever dink that was'nt too clever and i think he deserves some of the blame that we will be playing Dull City next season If he would of drilled it and missed it wouldnt be too bad even the players walked away in disgust.

Very similar to Yann's, half shot/half shit chip, well central, didn't really wait for the keeper to go before he hit it. Luckily for him, the Paraguay keeper plopped down like a sack of shit to his left and it went in. Those cvnts on ITV bummed it to death, called it 'a real goalscorer's penalty'. Shows the margins you're fvcking around with really.
