Howard to Huddersfield ?

If he can't get a regular start for Huddesfield why do we want him?

He is a quick decent forward and with the inevitable departure of DJ he would make a good option to have on the bench, and he is still young.

Clark coy on Howard bid

Lee Clark is keeping his cards close to his chest amid reports Huddersfield Town have bid for Leicester City striker Steve Howard.

The experienced front man has been linked with a £300,000 move to the Galpharm Stadium after previously attracting interest from Cardiff City.

Terriers boss Clark is constructing a squad capable of challenging for promotion in the coming season and is a fan of Howard.

However, Clark refused to confirm the rumours that he is ready to bring in the 34-year-old, who has spent the past two-and-a-half years at Leicester.

"As I've said before, Steve Howard is someone we know all about and have kept tabs on for a long time," Clark told the Huddersfield Examiner.

"But he's still a Leicester player, and as such, it would be disrespectful to comment further."

Because we're swapping a slow, past it 34 year old with 2 years tops, who would seriously struggle in the Championship for a young speedy 21 year old, with 10+ years ahead of him, whos best could be brought out by Sousa.

Good deal if true.

Theo Robinson-

Positives- He is pacey and his age means he could improve as a player

Negatives- The only time I've seen him play, he missed a hatful of sitters and has a first touch worse than Howard- reminded me of a poor man's Elvis Hammond

Would prefer to keep big Steve to be honest, N'Guessan would be better used up front than Robinson!

I thought Robinson struggled to get in their squad last season :dunno:

Jordan Rhodes is the man we want to try and get if any swap deal is involved

Looks a cracking player. Would be very happy if he signed.

300k is a decent amount. I still think he gets a lot of harsh treatment and could still do a job in this league. His problem is lack of goals. Could be a very astute signing for Huddersfield though.

I'm surprised they'd be able to afford his wages as I'm guessing he's one our highest earners.

BIt of a problem that, when you're a striker.

If this is true we should snap their hands off. £300k for a 34-year-old lol

Most reliable poster on our forums has confirmed it's a done deal. Swap with Howard to us and Theo to you

Cracking deal for us, not so much for you. Theo is ok at league one, shit on the ball but scores. He will get some right stick from your fans for being so useless in general play

Cheers for the info, mate.

Hi Foxes!

A Terriers fan here!

Steve Howard or a player of his type (not necessarily his age) is exactly what we need at the moment. Although we scored 100+ goals in all competitions last season our forwards are physically lightweight. Jordan Rhodes is a promising young player who is still learning his craft and gets his goals by stealth rather than brawn, basically, he out-smarts defenders. Theo Robinson on the other hand is a total enigma, he has pace to burn but he's not a deadly goal scorer. He was used most of last season as an 'impact' substitute player but even so he scored 16 goals. That said, I'd estimate he missed double that amount, (no exaggeration) some of them absolute sitters.

Personally I'd feel very sorry to see Theo go but if this deal is on he'll definitely go. Apart from the lure of an excellent Championship club, rumours are he's never settled up t'North so Leicester would be much nearer his roots in Birmingham. Talk at this end about the possible transfer of Steve Howard have been going on for an eternity so I'm sure we'd all like to see it concluded one way or another!

Regards and good luck for the coming season! :scarf:

having just woke up to the news that the quickest player in the whole football league has left our once great club in some sort of transfer swap involving your great club, striker for a striker, you can probably imagine the feeling that when i read it wasnt mr elliot but mr howard i nearly choked on my cornflakes, sorry big fella no disrespect intended as u have more than proved yourself in the 60 or so years of being a pro footballer!!

now then a mess to all you foxes........ give this guy theo a chance, he will score goals for fun im sure, he is the fastest player iv seen down at the town ground, sometimes he looks like bamby on ice but he will be a valuable addition to your squad for the forthcoming season esp coming of the bench.

as for howard he will be very warmly welcomed huddersfield(but please do not mention 300 grand or so we have paid, we have more money than sense). and im sure he will do an expert job at getting us out of this god forsaken league....... All the best for this season and ill be looking out for theo when your back in the prem next year.....Did you know HTFC were the 1st team to win the league 3 times in a row....nearly a hundred bloody years ago and we have won f**k all since!!

Why do you have to bring that lot into it?

If this swap deal rumour is true I'd rather have Rhodes than Robinson, but my 'Udders mate waxes lyrical about both so I'd be happy for us to take a chance on Theo.

cos we fooking hate them

Yeah but...! You know...! It gets sort of boring banging on about that lot all the time!

Rhodes has the makings of a great player and I guess he'll go on to bigger and better things but in the meantime he's with us. Thank God! :scarf:

I was always impressed by that as a young lad, Herbert Chapman was the manager for 2 of them didn't he then bugger off to then less successful Arsenal and repeat the feat with them?

I've been a Huddersfield Town fan for over 50 years and when I first starting going to games, Leeds Utd were nothing really! They were just another Yorkshire Club albeit fairly rich from their patronage by the Jewish community of Leeds. Huddersfield Town were the team that even Leeds fans used to watch because we were a who had a reputation for playing good attacking football. I'll admit over those years things changed somewhat but even now they still know deep down we're a club of great tradition and stature, which despite their so called 'Glory Years' they still can't better! :scarf:

HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Lee Clark today rubbished reports of Theo Robinson joining Leicester City in exchange for Steve Howard as he prepared to step up Town’s pre-season preparations at Bury tomorrow.

The Shakers clash at Gigg Lane (3.00) will be the fourth friendly so far, but the first against Football League opposition.

Striker Robinson, who has been linked with a string of rival clubs since finishing last season with 16 goals to his name, is in line to figure as Clark explained: “We’ve had no contact with Leicester.

“I don’t know where these rumours are coming from but I do know that we haven’t had any conversations with any other clubs about Theo.”

Burly frontman Howard, a Town target during last January’s transfer window, is on tour with Leicester in Slovenia.

Clark, who watched a young team lose 1-0 at Frickley Athletic last night, is looking forward to the Bury trip.

Agreed, 300k for a 34 year old who rarely scores lol

Actually has a decent record for a 'big man'.

96 Games and 26 Goals, Goal ratio of a goal every 3 game.

I suppose so. Wasn't De Vries's record like that though?
