Finnegan Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 10 penalties s really a massive amount. Just shows you do get more luck and more decisions at the top. Err... or you're more likely to spend time in the box and be scaring opposition defenses in to mistakes if you're closer to the top?
Guest Bilo Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 To be fair, they seem to get very few given against them. We had at least two strong penalty shouts knocked back in the home game, and a stonewall one on Yakubu turned down on Saturday. There again, it's a brave man who gives a penalty against a Colin side.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Haha brilliant. Find me a thread anywhere on any board that moans about the amount of penalties that QPR were getting before this season, when they were finishing mid-table. I suppose this season there's been some reffing conspiracy to suddenly start awarding them loads of penalties and falsely boost them to the top of the table.

I don't think anyone is moaning it's just an observation and comments. It wasn't that long ago we got a glut of them.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Was in response to peteborofox. There just seems to be a general refusal to give any credit to QPR for their efforts this season.

QPR deserve a lot of credit. Thet are the best team in the league, and despite having a manager I dont really like, he is the best all round Championship manager there is. Knows how to get out of this league, and is a very good man manager.I dont either like or dislike QPR, but they deserve to be top as they are the best team in the league, and I think they are in no danger of missing out on promotion. My point wasnt about QPR in general. Maybe all ten penalties were deserved and were blatant penalties, I didnt say they didnt deserve them. Generally when a team is doing well they do get the rub of the green, and get more penalties. Yes the better get in the other teams box more and attack more, but for whatever reason they also get that little bit of luck. When we went down to League 1, although we werent great, we were a lot better than a lot of other teams and should have picked up more points than we should. Pretty sure we only got 3 penalties all that season, and we should really have had double that. But when you're down there, you dont get the breaks. People argue about 'you make your own luck' and 'decisions even themselves out'. But they are the biggest myths I have ever heard, as frankly they are not true.
Finchy Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 Leeds sign Barry Bannan from Villa on loan for the rest of the season <_<
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I thought Bannan was in their squad a lot lately?
StanSP Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 That's what I thought. But Makoun had been suspended, Petrov is coming back from injury and Michael Bradley is settling in now too. Villa don't have as many injuries anymore as they used to, so for Bannan to go to Leeds is viable for both Leeds and Villa. Leeds' midfield looks very accomplished now - Snodgrass, Johnson, Howson, Bannan and Gradel. Plus, Bannan's there for the play-offs too, should they get there.
Finnegan Posted 7 March 2011 Posted 7 March 2011 I really hate this bullshit myth that Warnock is a great manager or even good at this level; or even that he knows how to get out of this league. If that's the case why has he fucked it up countless times and only managed it twice? Give over. He's a journeyman and one with a less impressive record than Ollie.

They played a montage of his time in charge at QPR on Saturday- included was a clip saying how much he loved the Championship. Now we know why he's spent most of his recent career in it
RedHux Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 Amusingly, it seems that Direbys on loan keeper can only play 3 more games because of the 93 game rule and his previous loan spell, despite them signing him until the end of the season. Linky End of season?
RedHux Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 Also, as I know you're all keen to know whats happing in the capital of the east midlands, Forest are strongly rumored to have signed Kris Boyd on loan with Paul Smith going th other way..... 'tis now official
sdb Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 I also think he's overrated altho i'd much rather they didn't have him!
FoxyPV Posted 8 March 2011 Posted 8 March 2011 QPR, Forest, Hull, Derby and Cardiff all got beat tonight. Pity we did too.
accessory Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Think Burnley will be in the top six at the end. Agreed. Will be between them and Leeds for the playoffs. QPR and Norwich look likely to be the top two.
Wymsey Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Can't believe how tight the league is. If we drop more points we could be near the relegation zone
accessory Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Not with the run Cov and Derby are on at the moment. We could lose every game for the rest of the season and still finish above both of them quite comfortably.
