Mikey Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Phew, at least he didn't say he wasn't picking Beckham again.
rico Posted 11 August 2010 Author Posted 11 August 2010 sorry teacher, why don't you give me detention
Tommeh Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Silly decision from Capello for me, still easily good enough to be involved. Next manager hopefully.
Webbo Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Who the fuck is Becham? Phew, at least he didn't say he wasn't picking Beckham again. What happens when I have a cold? This isn't talkingballs you know.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Beckham to reject the farewell game offered by Capello. Good decision in my opinion, I'd have told Capello where to stick his farewell game if I was in Beckham's position. After all those years, all those caps, you shouldn't find out your international career is over through a television interview. Just goes to show what a gutless idiot Capello is.

It would also say that Beckham feels his own international career is over, which he's denied.

Turns out he got his assistant Baldini to phone Beckham before the interview

Beckham is a media whore, it's how he'd have wanted it and will be loving the media circus around it all now.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 First of all, Beckham should not have more caps than Bobby Moore. Bobby Moore played near enough all 90 minutes of every game, where as Beckham comes on for 10 minutes and gets a cap. That is wrong. His ability to run past players went a long time ago, obviousley. He should never have left Manchester United. As the late and great George Best said; "Beckham cannot head the ball, cannot tackle, he doesn't use his left foot and doesn't score enough goals. Other than that he's alright". And, I agree. I don't think he is a footballing hero, or a national hero, and all this about him is just getting on my nerves. I'm pretty sure he lives for all the media, where as real footballers like Scholes and Giggs don't. If I was an upcoming footballer, most certainly I'd look up to someone like Paul Scholes who doesn't want the media attention and hasn't got an agent.

Correct, especially re having Paul Scholes as a more suitable footballer role model. Beckham is a talented footballer, but to have him as the most capped outfield player of all time does skew it a bit to overstate his impact.

I do agree to some extent and Beckham is nowhere near the player that some made him out to be in the past. However he does clearly love playing for England and playing football in general and has a hell of a lot more passion than anyone in the team at the moment. Why Capello came out with that statement I don't know and may well regret it. Why rule out a call up for him? If he hasn't been picked fair enough, but don't completely rule him out! In regards to him acquiring his England caps, that's just how it works. If he has been called up that many times then he deserves his cap, whether he has played 90 or 2 minutes. Also, talking about him wanting to get attention, anyone who states what away games they've been to in their sig is a bit of a tosser and after attention . Congratulations, you get to a few away games.

Congratulations, you get to a few away games. I did it last year, and I think that a few other people do it as well. But, thats your views. Nice one. At the end of the day, it's only a few words that appear at the bottom of my posts.
