Weale - 7 - Looks pretty solid, although he flapped at one ball which nearly cost us.

Neilson - 8 - Great performance defensively and did well on the wing. Wheres the moaners now?

Moreno - 7 - Looked OK on the ball but won't head it which could be a problem at some stage.

Hobbs - 10 - The legend is back! Won everything. He prevented 2 boro goals early on.

Berner - 9 - So neat and tidy, made some good tackles. Looked tired at the end though.

Dyer - 9 - Never stopped running, some good crosses and passing.

Oakley - 7 - Some good tackling, but passing not always positive enough.

Wellens - 8 - Got stuck in very well. Played the simple ball.

King - 9 - Hit the bar and had a goal ruled offside. Passed well.

DJ - 9 - He could be on for 20 this season if he plays like that! Always looked a danger, although his final pass or touch let him down a bit at times.

Howard - 9 - Won a lot in the air, almost scored. The ref never gave him the free kicks he deserved.

Gally - 5 - A bit negative, never really touched the ball.

Matty - 5 - Brought on too late, no real impact.

Lamey - 6 - Looked good in the air and on the ground. Made good tackles late on.

Paulo - 8 - Picked the right team. Good subs but maybe a bit too late.

Ref - 3 - Not surprisingly really, he was a bag on wank. He was definately giving boro the 50/50 decisions.

Weale -6 made easy saves but should of caught them instead of palming them away instead of catching them.

Neilson-7 Plenty round me slagging him off, i thought he had a decent game too.

Hobbs-8 2 goal saving tackles in the first half.

Moreno-7 Stupid booking, it was a blatant foul.

Berner -6 bit nervy losted the ball once and retrieved it, but against better wingrs we would of had to pay.

King-7 his goal was onside, enough said.

Oakley-7 looks more at hope in centre of the park.

Wellens -7 wellens was just wellens :D.

Campbell-7.5 Worked hard and looked good especially in the first half, some saying he should of passed it a couple of times instead of going alone but i dont aggree

Howard-7 worked hard for the team as always, should of had free kick near the end.

Dyer-7 couple of good crosses for strikers to head

Subs:

Lamey-7 his talkleing was excellent, going forward he losted the ball when he just came on.

Gallagher-6.5 didnt realy see much of him .

Fryatt -7 him and fryatt work well together near the end.

Looked like Moreno won the ball from L1

I was in L1 and it looked like he just barged into the player. If he hadn't gobbed off he wouldn't have got booked.

Weale - 7 Kept a clean sheet and saved some good shots and one great save.

Neilson - 6 Going back to his long through balls but making more runs than he used 2

Moreno - 7 Great at tackling but poor in the air (maybe better in midfield)

Hobbs - 8 Great cleared everything in the air and some good tackles

Berner - 7 Good tackling and making good runs

King - 6 Played ok not realy in it much today

Oakley - 7 Made Some great through balls and defended well

Wellens - 8 Got stuck in everywere on the pitch just a great player

Campbell - 9 Quality player skilled alot of people and made some good runs

Howard - 7 concedes a bit to much fouls wich is annoying other wise a top player

Dyer - 7 Great in the first 20mins after that didnt do that much

Subs:

Lamey - 7 Great when he came on got stuck in and great going forward

Gallagher - 7 Didnt do that much but made some good balls

Fryatt - 6 Didnt do that much got tackled nearly every time going forward

Overall a good game deserved to win but lets go beat Burnley :scarf:

Weale -6 Didn't have lots to do, flapped a bit.

Neilson-7 good game.

Hobbs-7 back to himself

Moreno-7 started a bit sloppy but got better and better as the game went on

Berner -7 Steady

King-7 steady unlucky not to score

Oakley-9 man of the match for me, picked up the loose balls, tackled well, passed well.

Wellens -7 Always trying to create glad he's back in the team.

Campbell-7.5 looked very sharp in the first half should've scored though

Howard-7 same old howard always 100% for the team.

Dyer-7.5 Looks so dangerous on the break, the style seems to suit him.

Weale 6 (Good save from McDonald, but so nearly cost us a goal in the first half when he completely missed a Robson cross)

Neilson 7 (A few iffy passes but in the main his distribution was fine, got stuck in a lot and attacked reasonably well)

Hobbs 9 (Didn't put a foot wrong, we'd have conceded in the first 30 minutes without Hobbs there, he saved our bacon at times)

Moreno 6 (Looked like a midfielder playing in defence in the first half, thankfully improved a lot after the break, lack of aerial ability is a worry)

Berner 6 (Quiet game but solid enough)

Oakley 8 (Looked for and seemed to want the ball more than others, passed it sensibly and linked us from defence to attack, hopefully shut lots of people up with that performance)

Wellens 7 (Grew into the game and was a real threat in the second half, typical attritional display we're used to)

King 6 (Was a goal threat as always and made some good runs, but never had the composure of Oakley and Wellens)

Dyer 6 (Wasn't overly impressed, improved as the game went on, made some positive runs)

Howard 6 (Not his day, bullied by Wheater in the air, commendable effort though and never let his head drop)

Campbell 8 (Very bright, good runner with the ball, a little bit rusty with some passes and shots but very promising)

Gallagher, Fryatt, Lamey 6 (Not much impact but slotted in fine)

Possibly a few harsh marks there but I wanted to separate out the likes of Hobbs, Oakley and Campbell who in my opinion stood out.

Weale 6 - did what he had to do

Neilson 7 - played well no need to be subbed which was a waste just to give Lamey a debut

Moreno 6 - please drop Oakley and play him in Dm where he is a much better player and will make us more solid

Hobbs 7 - looked a lot more confident and more like himself

Berner 6 - always an outlet, got caught once but got back to make amends

Oakley 6 - solid but offered nothing really, when our midfield did break down it tended to be from Oakley

King 6 - goal wrongly ruled out for offside got forawrd every chance he got to support Howard

Wellens 6 -same as Oakley really, tended to use the ball better then Oakley though

Campbell 8 - a constant threat, great free kick, MOTM and we lost something when he went off

Howard 7 - superb unlucky to be booked and a goal disallowed

Dyer 7 - tracked back better then before, seemed to have bulked up from last year needs to saty wider at times though

Can't believe people are saying DJ had a great first half. The first 30 mins he did fvck all but give the ball away. Only after his free-kick did he do anything remotely useful. He was good thereafter though :P

Weale 6

Neilson 7

Hobbs 8 (wonderful to see him back to his best)

Moreno 7 (I'm a fan)

Berner 7

King 6 (not bad, just looked a frustrated figure at times. Sky+d his goal - very marginal, perhaps just off, just.)

Oakley 7

Wellens 6

Dyer 6

Howard 6

DJ 7

Posted

I must have been watching the game in a parallel universe where DJ occasionally beat a man, threatened with his pace, but ultimately gave the ball away virtually every time he got it and squandered our best chance.

There's no doubt he's going to be an asset but he wasn't our best player today. Nowhere near it.

Weale - 6 - not much to do at all, flapped a little at one first half corner that could have cost us.

Neilson - 7 - decent performance.

Moreno - 7 - good start, calm and comfortable.

Hobbs - 8 - the Jack Hobbs of last season.

Berner - 7 - solid and dependable.

Oakley - 7.5 - one of his better games.

King - 7 - good performance, always a threat running through, a little tired at the end though?

Wellens - 7 - harried, tackled, got stuck in.

Dyer - 7.5 - threatening, tricky, pacy - deserved at least an assist today.

Howard - 6.5 - powerful as ever, playing colleagues in well at the moment but could have done better with one header and unlucky with the curling shot.

Campbell - 6.5 - plenty of involvement first half, but often outdid himself. Even tracked back and tackled on occasion but faded in the second half.

Subs:

Lamey - 6 - some good moments, some ropey in his little cameo. Considerably more mobile than Robbie.

Fryatt - 5 - rarely involved.

Gallagher - 5 - as above.

Paulo - 9 for style.

what do you mean a blatantfoul for moreno it was' nt even a foul .it was a 50/50 shoulder to shoulder unless you were watching a different game

Weale - 7 - Flapped at a cross, parried a few where he maybe should have caught them but was comfortable with pretty much everything m'boro threw at him

Neilson - 8 - Brilliant, bombed foward frequently, actually ended up putting the tackle in and winning the ball back on the edge of the m'boro box. Seems strange that a player like him, your simple tackle and clear defender (a la wayne brown) would be more comfortable playing an attacking full back role than a simple defensive role like he did under pearson

Moreno - 8 - Fairly composed, him and hobbs worked well together.

Hobbs -8 - Back to his best afeter a poor start to the season

Berner -7 - Looked a bit rusty on the ball but still got foward like the bruno of last season

Oakley - 7 - Much better than the oakley of last season, got hold of the ball and used it well.

Wellens - 8 - His usual snap at the ankles self

King - 7 - Cut a frustrated figure, hard to tell (paticularly from the kop) but i felt he'd just about timed the run right for his disallowed goal.

Dyer - 7 - Drifted in and out of the game, Looked reluctant to use his pace to get to any 50/50 balls

DJ - 8 - Started slowly but terrified the m'boro defence one he found his stride, Seemed to go for the same move of run at defenders and cut inside every time though

Howard -7 - Didn't do all that much, very harshly penalised by the ref for any foul, even when it seemed like the defender was the guilty party

Weale - 6 Not much to do, hasn't looked confident since Derby last season though.

Neilson - 7 Had one of his best games. Still not quick enough, but was solid.

Hobbs - 7 Decent game. Couple of very good tackles.

Moreno - 6.5 Good on the ball, couldn't head it for toffee though.

Berner - 6.5 Out of position in the first half, recovered for a decent half in the second.

King - 6 No mistakes but was out of the game.

Oakley - 7 Played well. Nothing spectactular, passed it on.

Wellens - 6.5 Wasn't involved enough.

Dyer - 7 Did well out of position.

Campbell-7.5 Worked hard, only player that had pace. Flashes of genuine quality, few misplaced passes.

Howard - 7 Decent game, but didn't win enough headers as always. Too slow.

Other: Middlesborough got what they came for, they weren't much at all. I saw the whole game from start to finish and I still can't work out who was meant to be playing on the left. I'm sure someone was meant to be, I just couldn't work out who it was. It is, however, encouraging that we're trying to play football after 5 seasons...

It was a stupid challenge in that area! plus he pushed someone over haha! i do like him though seems to not have any concerns about having the ball at his feet!

Weale - 8 - Good game today! seemed to be confident and made a few good saves, but didn't really have allot to do!

Neilson - 8 - Had a great game! still gets beaten easily to the line! but i thought he played well today some good crosses! short passing wasn't 100% at times though.

Moreno - 7 - Was good! a bit of a crazy cat! the challenge by L1 was brainless! he seems composed on the ball too, tends to bring the ball down allot instead on heading it all the time! can be effective sometimes but could get caught out by a nippy player!

Hobbs - 10 - Welcome back Mr. Hobbs, played brilliantly! few last gap blocks one in particularly on Boyd in the first half! won all his headers too!

Berner - 8 - Was cool as a cucumber under pressure! made a brilliant challenge on O'neil i think in front of the boro fans!

Oakley - 7 - Played well today! looks much better with this new style of passing under Sousa! some of his passes ran short at times but looked much better!

Wellens - 8 - Cool as anything on the ball! did loose it once or twice easily but made up for it with some timely interceptions and nice sensible passing.

DJ - 9 - Cracking game today, did everything but score! played a few short passes in the first half but its nice to see him playing with confidence!

King - 7 - Played well in the first half, he seemed to get tired towards the end of the second half, but he did play for wales midweek so forgiven he is.

Dyer - 8 - Was brilliant in the first half! looks far more dangerous on the right! one of these days he will cut inside and hit a screamer! never stopped running either!

Howard - Played well today, kept running all day long and control and passes it really well for a big lad! didn't get some of the free kicks he should have!

This was a welcome starter - well played and when things settle we will win this type of game. I did not agree with the King substitution but perhaps there was a reason for it. I thought it took the shine off the end of the game.

First it was good, at long last, to see something being shaped up to look like a football team. Ball in the net twice, hit the bar and a succession of other half-chances it was so refreshing and, for an hour or so our passing was sometimes sublime.

Weale 7 (One early flap which might have offered an open goal but okay in general).

Neilson 7.5 (Best game I've seen from him in a City shirt).

Moreno 7.5 (Helped glue the defence much more tightly. Despatched the ball early, constructively and with the least fuss).

Hobbs 9 (Two vital blocks in quick succession probably prevented at least one goal. Much better without Morrison)

Berner 6 (Left his winger far too much space first half and still looked vulnerable. Almost embarrassed us by getting caught in possession late on).

Oakley 8 (Best he's played for ages. Constantly available, lots of simple give and go's, he was the hub of so much that was good).

Wellens 6.5 (Okay but so often wasted half chances by failing to shoot).

DJ 8 ( A real nightmare to mark but was played too far from the penalty area for my liking. Beat his man with ease and threatened so often although his passing radar went on the blink for a spell in the first half. By far the best striker we've got on today's form).

King 7.5 Denied what seemed a perfectly good goal, set up Howard for another disallowed goal and played two or three other potentially telling passes. Subdued later and likely feeling his midweek international).

Dyer 6.5 (Huffed, puffed and worked hard enough within the system. Justdidn't look especially threatening).

Howard 6 (Disappointing. Didn't get much change in the air but should have won a free-kick right on the edge of the box when everyone but the ref saw his shirt all but ripped from his back).

Subs

Gallagher - 4 (No impact)

Fryatt 4 (Much the same)

Lamey - 6 (Showed some promise and a definite contender for the shirt on this cameo).
