Proven Championship Players Needed !

Might sound a bit negative and im sorry if it has been covered else were but is it me or is anyone else concerned about all the foreign signings ? so far we've signed Miguel Vitor, Moreno, Leon Crncic and Michael Lamey and look set to sign Yuki Abe all from different countires, Moreno and Lamey who ive seen play dont look too bad but surely with such a big budget we need to be signing proven championship players to get us out of this leauge. Look at Cardiff, they have signed Jason Koumas, Seyi Olofinjana, Andy Keough and of course Craig Bellamy who are all good players and have all taken their teams out of this leauge, all quality signings in my eyes.

Just woundering if anyone feels the same

If the player is good enough then it doesn't matter where they're from.

In the relegation season we signed a plethora of experienced british championship players and it didn't go too well at all.

I'm not at all concerned at all of the foreign signings.

I'd rather take an unproven foreigner than an unproven english player from a league 1/2 club. To be able to sign proven championship players, big money is needed, perhaps not in transfer fees, but certainly wages. Particularly to break into the top two or three. We don't look commited to doing that from a financial point of view.

Granted, looking abroad is risky, but financially perhaps not as risky.

However, there has to be some sort of balance between home players and foreign ones. Time will tell as to whether Sousa gets that right or not.

I see what you're saying, but Messi isn't tested at Championship level, would you turn him down?

Having seen him play in the world cup I think Abe is a cut above what we've signed already.

Also, we probably are trying to sign some proven players but Lee Hoos has put us in the position where everyone knows we have 10 million to spend in the next week. They're probably doing their best. Fook knows what's going on in Cardiff but it's disgusting.

I do feel the samef im honest, i would like to see some more signings from the 'tried and tested' route.

I think its a big gamble as to how players from abroad will adapt to english football, especially in our case as players are coming in from leagues of different footballing cultures like portugal/japan.

As others have said, perhaps less financial risk, but certainly a greater hit/miss aspect to their success here

I suppose you have a point but how are players to prove themselves if they are not given a chance... ? Though some big already established English League Players would be nice :)

I thought the Raksriaksorn's said that?

All these foreign players?

Cardiff signed 'Seyi Olofinjana'

fooking priceless

You mean Seyi Olofinjana who's played for Wolves, Stoke and Hull in the Premier League since 2004. Think the point the guy is making is signing players from England, or with experience of this league as oppose to players who have never set foot on these shores.

Personally I'm not too fussed about signing a few players from abroad because it can obviously work out very well, as long we're not exclusively signing player from abroad. Kaamark worked out well for us for instance, as has Tunchev when he's been fit. But they don't always work and it wouldn't hurt to sign a few players who have been there and done it in this league. One example is John Stead, who's just gone to Bristol City. He may not be the best player in the world, but he's roughly the same age as Kermorgant, who do you think would have been more effective for us off the bench last season?

That sums it up for me aswell, far greater risk than signing someone from England who costs x amount and fails

Yeh but we never really make any decent signings from abroad... Zsolt Lackzo, Kermit the frog...

In recent times that is true but we have signed some crackers in the past... Theo, Pontus..all good players, so maybe we will get lucky with Yuki...did you like that?

And if Cardiff don't get promoted this season, their going to be in a hell of a lot of trouble financially

I presume as well if WE don't get promoted, WE are going to be in bad crap financially if these Thais get bored of this division, and sell off.

All if and buts. Cardiff WILL be in financial difficulty if they fail to go up. We MIGHT be in financial difficulty, in some hypothetical situation you've just made up in your mind that will probably never happen.

I don't care where they come from as long as they do a job!!! We have always seemed to use proven Championship players and not really got anywhere of late so lets give the foreign market a go. Seems like we can get better players for a fairer price!! What difference does it make where they're from to be honest.

im not saying sousa is rite or wrong, i am just saying that it would be more sensable signing players that have been successsful at this level and know what its all about , signing players from abroad is a big gamble because they have to move here and may find it hard to settle and adjust to the english game, communication aswell i dont think hobbs and moreno work well together because moreno cant speak a word of english, people have said we have brought championship players in the past but this time we have a bigger budget and in my eyes would be more attractive club to play for compared to a few years ago, im looking forward to seeing how moerno and michael lamey cope when we play leeds boxing day and its freeezing !

hahaaaa the same way all the foreign players cope with colder weather I guess! Pretty sure Holland (Lamey) isn't that much warmer than UK if at all..... What a strange comment

The communication is a valid one though

I'm on the fence about the foreign player situation, I mean it's a lot more exciting than buying Benson or Hedges from League 2 isn't it? We never sign exotic players so it's pretty cool for now.

Exactly, and come may when Yuki has scored 20 from midfield, the guy who started this thread will be eating humble pie.

Just relax and have faith in the manager, I'm sure a Benfica centre back in his twenties can't be shite.
