mancunianfox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Who are they? I can only think of 11 since O'Neill left. Peter Taylor Dave Bassett Micky Adams Craig Levein Rob Kelly Nigel Worthington Martin Allen Gary Megson Ian Holloway Nigel Pearson Paulo Sousa Where have the LMA got their fourteen in six years from???

They probably included caretaker managers such as Rudkin, Taggart and Burrows.
mancunianfox Posted 1 October 2010 Author Posted 1 October 2010 They probably included caretaker managers such as Rudkin, Taggart and Burrows. Doesn't really count though. We have had eight permanent managers in those six years.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 I think they said 14 managers in six years. If you take that as since Mickey Adams left, and include caretaker managers, you get: Dave Bassett (caretaker) Craig Levein Rob Kelly Nigel Worthington (caretaker) Martin Allen Jon Rudkin, Steve Beaglehole, Mike Stowell (caretakers) Gary Megson Frank Burrows and Gerry Taggart (caretakers) Ian Holloway Nigel Pearson Paulo Sousa Which adds up to 14, but is cheating a bit. We've had 7 permanent managers since Mickey Adams left, which while it isn't great, isn't quite as bad as 14.
ElectroJones Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Would Howard Wilkinson be in there somewhere?? I've lost track over the last decade!!
Corky Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Also, most were justifiably dispensed with for poor results/ performances. Only Allen and Pearson weren't on that front, and possibly Adams too. And Megson walked.
ajthefox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 How long did we have Worthington? I remember he was sort of caretaker manager til the end of the season but wasn't quite a long spell?
Corky Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 How long did we have Worthington? I remember he was sort of caretaker manager til the end of the season but wasn't quite a long spell? Five games. Lost his first two, won the next two and lost the fifth at home to Wolves. I still think he's a good manager though, and wouldn't have been against his appointment at the time.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 How long did we have Worthington? I remember he was sort of caretaker manager til the end of the season but wasn't quite a long spell? He applied for the job permenantly I think, but he didn't get it.
ajthefox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Oh right. I had some idea in my head that it was like a couple months or something.
clactonfox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 pls for foxes sake do not go to any more no win = jinx He applied for the job permenantly I think, but he didn't get it.

All except for Martin Allen, Gary Megson & Nigel Pearson were sacked for being crap or were just caretakers anyway something dodgy was going on with Allen and him signing 14 players cost us that season, Manderic felt personally betrayed by Megson... and it will be interesting to hear what actually happened with Pearson in the coming months/years but the LMA can go a fook themselves, sure the situation isn't ideal but people are sacked for being shit... if they don't want sacking then its quite easy... be less shit!
Lillehamring Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Also, most were justifiably dispensed with for poor results/ performances. Only Allen and Pearson weren't on that front, and possibly Adams too. And Megson walked. for some reason, this post made me waste ten minutes doing this....
Ziggy1990 Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 for some reason, this post made me waste ten minutes doing this.... ....a tudor pun, delightful sorting my tickets for Hull at home... assuming this will be the "new gaff's" first home game..... against NP no less
Raj Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Could be well in to the 20's before we find one who actually lasts a whole season( not mentioning NP!) Bloody shit we are.
poopbutt Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 for some reason, this post made me waste ten minutes doing this.... hahaha no waste there.
Chrysalis Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 to be fair MM made a good point back, and that was they didnt praise MM when he let holloway have until the end of the season and it costs us relegation.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 Dave Bassett (caretaker) - Divorced Craig Levein - Beheaded Rob Kelly - Died Nigel Worthington (caretaker) - Divorced Martin Allen - Behead Jon Rudkin, Steve Beaglehole, Mike Stowell (caretakers) - Survived, well Stowell did kind of
davieG Posted 2 October 2010 Posted 2 October 2010 It's alright people justifying his actions because they were crap but who recruited them? It's not the sacking that's the problem it's the recruitment.
