Webbo Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 How come nobody's mentioned The Royle Family? Utter genius.
sdb Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 It's obvious (and has been mentioned), but The Office is head and shoulders above everything else here (imo). Partridge is high up, as is The Thick of It. err Inbetweeners is very good but not outstanding, i'd say. Hope whoever said OF&H was joking!
StanSP Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 forgot to mention , black books and IT crowd are pretty good too Ah can't believe I missed that one!
lou Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Early Doors is probably the most under rated British comedy of the past decade. Totally agree!! This and the IT Crowd are the best I reckon! Also Partridge, Nighty Night, Royle Family, The Office Cant stand shit like The Inbetweeners! Its as funny as toothache - Student humour Id call it
Fosse Boy Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Yes to 15 Storeys High and Jam. Be prepared for some weird shit if you go for Jam though. The Day Today and Brass Eye are cracking too. I watched the DVD round my mate's house. There's a title on the menu that says "watch all six episodes at once". When you press it a screen appears with the word "WHY?" on it. Classic Morris. So yeah... Nathan Barley Peep Show The Office I'm Alan Partridge Darkplace Extras The Thick Of It Anyone mentioned Green Wing yet? Also, I know it's 90s but Father Ted is timeless.

lou Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Alright granny <_< Im happy to be so rather than someone who finds talk of 'gash' & testicles hilarious!
StanSP Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Im happy to be so rather than someone who finds talk of 'gash' & testicles hilarious! It's clunge, but touche.
Zingari Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 LCFC has been a long running comedy for the last decade , although i failed to see the humour most of the time
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Extras, Inbetweeners and the League of Gentlemen
dandannieldanok Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 This thread is really useful, completely forgot about Still Game, great programme.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Also, I know it's 90s but Father Ted is timeless. Bugger - I had thought of one that hadn't been mentioned up to your post! I'm pretty sure the guys who wrote Father Ted now do the IT Crowd don't they, because the last series produced some classics (especially the one with the iphone in the vending machine) with humour very much on the same sort of lines. Some other comedy to try... The Fast Show (If you like stupid catchphrase based humour, this will keep you entertained for hours!) Curb Your Enthusiasm (American which should = shit, but its not - Larry David ) Him and Her (this is new over here, still in its first series but I'm liking what I'm seeing at the moment.) Family Guy (Cartoon comedy - better than Simpsons and South Park, if you haven't seen this, do so soon!)

True it's not laugh a minute stuff, but I've found myself chosing to watch it on an evening. If not this, trying Ideal with Jonny Vegas might be a worth a shout - at least their comedies that let you laugh where you want to - they don't feel obliged to show you where to laugh.
Finnegan Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 lol You're about as secure as a hymen in a South London comprehensive. God I love that show.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Didn't know we were featuring American stuff. If we were then Arrested Development > Everything mentioned in this thread.
StanSP Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Didn't know we were featuring American stuff. If we were then Arrested Development > Everything mentioned in this thread. Shouldn't be considering it says 'british' in the sub-title
