HonradaRaposa Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 I love the fact people are getting angry, but don't really know why
Guest Bilo Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Wonder if Fox Travel will be laying on a couple of coaches for the match...
ozleicester Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Geebus, some people will complain about anything. Anyway, will be good experience for the team to prepare them for the rigors of the Champions and Europa Leagues.
Finchy Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Welcome to the new reality. We are a play toy folks. Few years time we'll be fighting for the club. Like Toy Story?
rich673 Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Erm, no thanks please. Signing Chinese and South Korean players because the new chairman wants us to? That is why Lee Hoos got rid of NP because he would of never stood for that. These Thai guys have clearly come in so Mandaric can sell up, Hoos was his bum boy who did what he was told and made the approach to Hull to get rid of NP. I'm still furious about that. Why are we sending our team out to Thailand in the middle of the competitive season to play matches that will help the Thai players? Is no one aware of the fact that we are having a shocking start to the season and our full squad should be in the UK training to turn that around during the international break, not serving some third world nation's pathetic aspirations. I agree that the Leicester City academy is a good idea and could be a decent revenue stream, but the rest of the article just reeks of our club being used to further 3rd parties' ambitions.
Finnegan Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 lol LEICESTER CITY: Not a boring club to support.
Corky Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 I'm sure if we win we'll be able to find a way of adding three points to the league table. It'll be worth it.

Master Fox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Do you really think anyone in Thialand is ever going to give a fcuk about Leicester City? These new owners will soon get bored when they realise it's just mediocre football club from a real shitty part of the world languishing in the bottom half of Divison 3. 'Thaliand Sports News Update' Thailand's national adopted soccer club Westa Sity FC drew nil-nil with Grimsby Town in a thrilling encounter at Blundell Park this evening, cheered on by local obese English man Jobber (Number 1 Fan)

Far Post Gerry Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 You'd be surprised mate. The Thais are damn patriotic buggers, and as we all know, they love English football. Give them a 'Thai' team to support, and they'll back us all the way. I remember when Thaksin took over Man City, every taxi driver in Bangkok (always the best barometer of public opinion) was suddenly a Man City supporter. I bet the stadium will be packed out on 9 October. Do we need it? Who knows, but it can't hurt.
The Doctor Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 whats the problem? I seem to rememeber under Adams we used to go out to la manga during the season. Besides all it is is a way of getting match practise during the international break, abe aside who have we got that would realistically be on international duty then?
MrSpaM Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 I was over in Thailand a couple of months ago, and saw the Thai league Allstars playing some premiership team on tv (think it was liverpool, but cant remember exactly) The thai premier league seems to be about on par with english league 1, they looked absalute garbage. Don't think this visits going to be very testing at all, more of a player bonding exercise than anything.
Far Post Gerry Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 I was at that Liverpool game in BKK last summer; Thaland (the national team) drew 1-1 with the Scouse first team - Gerrard, Torres n'all. But that was mainly because Liverpool were soooo shite. Thailand don't have any Championship class players. Bryan Robson spends more time on the jolly in Pattaya than he does on the training pitch. All things considered, we should turn them over easily. But like you said, it's more of a bonding exercise; if the guys can develop a bit of team spirit while leering at a few hookers in a Soi Cowboy strip joint, then all the better for it. And if one of the lads cops off with a fella, then you've got dressing room banter for the rest of the season!

Lillehamring Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 this is what modern football is going to be all about, it's happening folks, so you better get used to it. personally, i'm just glad we are ahead of most of the other mediocre championship sides in this respect. manu and chelsea don't do preseason tours in asia just for fun, but because they know they can make a fuck load of money, freindlies against oxford and hinckley are going to be a thing of the past and thank god. this sort of thing was always going to happen, sooner or later, especially if we'd got into the prem - i'm just glad we're a step ahead of other teams.
poopbutt Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 i know someone in the thai set up..i'm gonna see what the go is.

Yeah but a step ahead on the way to what? Also coming back to Master Fox's point... do you really think we have the brand (or even the brand potential) to exploit the Thai market? If this is about business and new markets then it strikes me as a very naive move from our owners. If this is about showing some mates a new toy then it's even worse. Either way the more I see from these guys the more I dislike them.
Far Post Gerry Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 I can't 'quote' anyone cos I'm on me BlackBerry, but Gazzer, I'm well up for meeting a few fellas if they come over. Dunno about putting them up (two bedroom flat gets a bit crowded with 50-odd Citeh fans), but say the word and I'll offer up a good sightseeing tour (strictly no temples)...
Finnegan Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Yeah but a step ahead on the way to what? In all fairness, you would expect a bunch of professional, Thai businessmen to know the Thai market a little bit better than a bunch of us clueless twits on the internet.
PhnomPhenFox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Great Stuff i shall be making the trip from Phnom Penh for this match. If the players cannot get over a bit of jet lag in a week there is something seriously wrong. It will take their minds of the poor start to the season. At least they are not staying on Pattaya, that may have caused some problems!!!
James. Fair. But then just because they know about duty free shops in Thai airports, doesn't mean they have a clue about marketing a medicore English football team. I'm basically massively anti this whole thing. Them getting rid of Pearson has made me bitter and resentful.

Either way the more I see from these guys the more I dislike them. Naive move? not sure I can agree, as do you expect the new owners to pour money in without earning or gaining anything themselves? They're business men. Say pre-season friendly now, make prem this year (extremely optimistic) could be a master stroke Even if it seems as his new toy, cash rich thai nationals may want to work with him and pour in some more 'cash' investment, which would hopefully diversify the risk. Thats why it is he started 'Asian investments'. Similar blue-print to Carson Yeung at Brimingham with 'Grandtop International Holdings' who bought them with his Chinese connections. Seems a better business model than most, however who knows.
MPH Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 As for the comment about chinese andkorean players. If they will be as good as Abe looks to be, then I don't care what country they are from. If they improve the team AND get us better exposure in asia then surely its a win win situation?
Far Post Gerry Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 PhnomPenh Fox, it'd be good to hook up if you're coming into enemy territory for the game. We should be taking a bit of a crowd along...
