doughnut Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Dont see it as a problem myself. It is the international break and will be a good bonding excercise spending a few days in thailand. Also good preperation for when we win the League Cup and getting used to travelling as a squad to foreign lands to compete in the Europa League next year!!!
PhnomPhenFox Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 PhnomPenh Fox, it'd be good to hook up if you're coming into enemy territory for the game. We should be taking a bit of a crowd along... excellent i shall keep in touch mate, i might have to make a 30 hour round trip on the bus as i don't think i can afford the air fare but it should be worth it
Webbo Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Wouldn't it be nice of our Thai owners to put all the season ticket holder's names into a hat and giving a couple of expenses paid trips to see the match?
Tilley Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 This is stupid. Travelling half way across the world to play the fucking Thai national team? Beggars belief.
Wymsey Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Anyone going? Think that Thai Bride (some person they are ) will be. Ask them. I don't want to personally or they think i am after them.
howsyourfather Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 this whole thing infuriates me, buying asian players is a joke too. we're turning into a gimmick
Prospero Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Will the priority be the same as for ordinary away games and how much will it cost on Foxes travel, anyone know?
Leicester Rule! Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Will the priority be the same as for ordinary away games and how much will it cost on Foxes travel, anyone know? http://www.thesite.org/community/reallife/diaries/thetuktukkers
Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Seems like a shit idea. On their week 'off' let's ship them over to Thailand, let them get hounded by aload of asians, no doubt something La Manga-esqe, will kick off, and to top it all off, get them so jet-lagged they won't be able to do much for a week afterwards.
Prospero Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Anyone want to share the cost of a tuk-tuk taxi?
Cat Burger Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 This is stupid. Travelling half way across the world to play the fucking Thai national team? Beggars belief. Oh so exposing and hopefully showcasing our team to a country of 65 million people is a waste of time? Good business more like. Our season is already a write off; we stay up now and it's a grand job so we might as well make some decent baht.
Tilley Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 We're not Chelsea or Manchester United, the Thai people won't care about a team bottom of the second tier of English football.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 The comments of "we gain nothing from this" are ludicrous. Us the fans, no probably not, but then any of you who think football is still about the fans should of opened their eyes about 10 years ago. This is the owners trying to make money, all about them. Probably wont be succesful but they view it as business. I hope Sosa, assuming he is still here, as the sense to send the reserves as the Thai crowd wont know the F8cking difference anyway.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 Good to see the players will jet lagged to fook for the next league game. You only get jet-lagged flying west to east, they'll be flying east to west on the way back. Still, I don't see the point.
Cat Burger Posted 26 September 2010 Posted 26 September 2010 We're not Chelsea or Manchester United, the Thai people won't care about a team bottom of the second tier of English football. Thank you mr or mrs spokesman for the entire Thai people but I disagree. Many Thai football fans will have an interest in this takeover and our team.
CosbehFox Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 Thank you mr or mrs spokesman for the entire Thai people but I disagree. Many Thai football fans will have an interest in this takeover and our team. There is very little market for football clubs outside of the big four from England. National team friendlies attendance very much dependant on the opposition. This summer, the Thai FA attempted to sell out their national stadium with a Thai XI All-Stars against an European side....when the majority of the English sides knocked them back, Athletico Madrid were declared opponents. The ground wasn't even half full and reading the Thai football forums, their fans look at this whole friendly has a bit of embrassment.
The Doctor Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 You only get jet-lagged flying west to east, they'll be flying east to west on the way back. Still, I don't see the point. if you only get jet lagged flying in a certain direction, why not fly there and back in the other direction?
Tilley Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 Thank you mr or mrs spokesman for the entire Thai people but I disagree. Many Thai football fans will have an interest in this takeover and our team. No, really they won't. The fans in the Far East want a Manchester United shirt with 'Rooney' on the back or a Real Madrid shirt with 'Ronaldo' on the back, can hardly see Bangkok being flooded with Leicester City shirts with 'Abe' on the back. In between two important, must win home games against Scunthorpe and Hull, I don't see how jetting off half way around the world to play Ladyboys' XI is going to benefit us, I really don't.
Free Falling Foxes Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 We know how King Power operate their duty-free shops at Bangkok airport - you know, accuse customers of shop-lifting. Perhaps their scheme is to get the whole bally-lot of them arrested and start-over again!
Donut Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 Hopefully someone will get onto the case with a tickets and travel news thread for the game
maccfox Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 20 hour round trip over 7 time zones for a meaningless friendly. Brilliant. Remember Sousa thought we were "leggy" V QPR the sky team thought we were leggy V Pompey so what do we do when we get a break???? mind u no way should a team be leggy in September anyway, what are we going to be like in April for christs sake??
Jakemoore Posted 27 September 2010 Posted 27 September 2010 Great idea for pre-season but for mid-season.....piss off!!
James. Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 Oh so exposing and hopefully showcasing our team to a country of 65 million people is a waste of time? Good business more like. Come on now. "Showcasing our team to a country of 65 million people". You do realise how ridiculous that comment is, right? I stand by what I've said all along. This is a naive idea from owners that think the concept of an "English football team" has the same appeal to the Thai market regardless of who that team actually is. Above all this is not in the interests of the team. There'a a time and a place to do things like this, and during a horrendous start to a season is not it. The owners have already demonstrated their ineptitude at running a football club by getting rid of Pearson. Why anyone trusts them with this idea is beyond me. That just confirms what to me (and others like Tilley) seems pretty obvious.
Raj Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 We are a joke club at the moment in England. The Thai's will think we are a fcuking circus side!!!
