Jakemoore Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 On Saturday after the game, Ian stringer publicly stated that the mood of the fans has completely changed since Sousa got the boot. Is he right or not??? I'm just interesting to know how optimistic/pesermitic the majority of fans are now.
Benjaldinho Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 As long as the results start coming in im all for the change
Leicester_Loyal Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 Players looked fitter, 2 quality signings already, world class manager, big transfer kitty in January, whats not to be happy about?
Jakemoore Posted 17 October 2010 Author Posted 17 October 2010 Yeah but Im talking about now right this minute.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 I have more confidence that we will win some games now Sousa has gone, so I think there is generally a bit more optimism.
Jakemoore Posted 17 October 2010 Author Posted 17 October 2010 Players looked fitter, 2 quality signings already, world class manager, big transfer kitty in January, whats not to be happy about? I'm not gonna point out the obvious.......you know where I'm going with this reply.
ajthefox Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 I thought Sousa would eventually turn things around given the time, I have no doubt that Sven will, and sooner rather than later. I think that answers it.
Thracian Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 On Saturday after the game, Ian stringer publicly stated that the mood of the fans has completely changed since Sousa got the boot. Is he right or not??? I'm just interesting to know how optimistic/pesermitic the majority of fans are now. Sousa got shafted good and proper. He might have guessed, of course, by the way Pearson was treated and should have had far more grace than to have allowed himself to be courted at the Cardiff play-off matches so I've not much sympathy for him. But the integrity of our club has sure been dragged along the floor by the whole sorry managerial pantomime and, while I don't expect our fans to give a shit, it does serve to doubt that such attitudes will result in us reaching football's promised land anytime soon. There's so many changes in playing and managerial personnel we should be playing "In Out In Out Shake It All About" before matches. And all that disruption spells a headache for anyone building a football team. Why? Not because there might not be better players coming into the club which I'm confident will be the case under Eriksson. But because there'll be a whole stack of players left in the shadows who'll be seriously pissed off at having what could be an entirely wasted season. Football teams need to be put together in the close season not during the working weeks of an ongoing campaign and while I'm confident we'll gradually climb the table any chance of us reaching the play-off places will not just be in our hands but in the hands of other clubs with ambition. Nothing is imposssible but, for me, we've given ourselves the most ridiculous handicap and I'll be amazed if the leaders slow their pace enough for us to catch them this season. So far I just cannot see where the players are to score the necessary goals - let alone show the confidence and conviction to score em cos we're just too desperate and therefore too cautious. Even if Sven makes flawless personnel decisions he's still got to sort out so many weaknesses and then work the new players into a unit that no-one else can cope with. That's a big ask. And with the owners saying we're going to do this and that it's an even bigger ask. Even with a bottomless pit of money Eriksson will do marvellously well to make that big a difference. I wish him luck but I'm not convinced. Cos so far he's needlessly thrown two home points away against the most inconsequential opposition.

sbfox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 .......... I wish him luck but I'm not convinced. Remind me how Hull was inconsequential? Return of NFP, first game for Sven, us stuck down at the bottom, hardly inconsequential.

Babylon Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 well with the chances we had, paticularly first half, we should have scored more than just the one so really we did throw away 2 points by wasting those chances. And that's Svens fault.... After one game, one friendly and a handful of training sessions? The finishing problems will continue to plague us while we have this bunch of players. If anything was to blame for the loss of two points it's Sousas training that left us looking knackered on about the 35 minute mark.
Corky Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 I'm certainly more confident now, we look much stronger at the back which was a must. Need to put more chances away though.
Houdini Logic Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 It was clear none of the players were happy under Sousa and every fan was terrified for January to come. With Sven they'd be crazy to walk away and rather than lose the players we love we can only add to them.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 I'm more sexually frustrated since Sven arrived!!
ithuriel Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Much more confident. Against Hull who still have players they brought with them from the Premier league, a good manager who knew all but two of our first team on Saturday personally and with it being Svens first game, we would have won with better finishing. Under Sousa i could not see that changing but with Sven, after seeing his first loan signings, i have confidence he will get players in who will score and not constantly waste the chances that are going begging.
HonradaRaposa Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 The mood is one of we have the manager and about half a first team, the rest are either total shite or complete and utter shite. The best bit is Sven knows it and he is already going out to replace the crap accumulated previously.
