Yet again we have no answer to a team that stops us playing football.

We never seem to have the will or desire to get amongst a team that decides to get amongst us. QPR at home was a perfect example, and now this.

Agreed, and we do have Wellens, Berner, Hobbs, Gallagher not performing to last seasons levels, key players who would get amongst it.

We were totally, totally shit today. I imagine it was a similar experience to the Burnley game, although I didn't make that one.

The players could barely control the ball and when they did they dwelled on it, allowing Swansea to close us down. We were lucky to get nil.

Fair play to Swansea though, they were a very effective side. Passed it nicely and closed down very well. Can see them challenging.

I think Sven's got to try different formations/systems to see what suits our team, the problem with Paulo was that when things weren't working he didn't change it.

Sven has the experience to see when a tactic isn't effective and over the next few weeks we'll have to just wait to see how he gets the best possible out of the team,

It was an entertaining game. We dominated possession (as we usually do) but couldn't break you down. Our keeper pulled off one stunning save to keep you out, so in fairness Sven's plan worked for the first half.

Then we just hit you with an early goal in the second and after that (barring a ten minute spell where we inexplicably sat back and allowed you to attack us) the result was never in doubt. You're far from the worst side I've seen this season and you'll probably stay up without too much trouble, although you'd do better without that dribbling Neanderthal Wellens in the side.

Que sera sera and all that. Yes being a Leicester fan does worry me and depress me after seeing some matches but I do like to go into games with an element of optimism. Anything can happen!

Scrub the Leicester, and it's the same for all fans apart from Chelski at the moment :scarf:

disappointing.

Firstly - Abe is not a god damn right winger - stop bringing him on it thar position, it is a complete waste of his talent.

Secondly - Fryatt is not capable of playing lone striker, he's a penalty box pilferer and needs a striker who will throw himself around and cause mistakes/space to open up for fryatt to exploit - like he had with howard in the l1 season and partly last year, as well as with waghorn last year.

Finally - why change anything except gallagher's injury from tuesday - cunningham didn't need to be thrown straight in and fryatt would be better off the bench if we play 4-5-1.

For fuck sake, how can you seriously say stuff like this from listening to it on Foxes Player?!

You know that Waghorn looked out of his depth, don't you mean sounded?!

Hes not on his own tho is he? Theirs loads of them who see nothing and comment and theirs them who go to the games who arent much betta. Thick the lot of em.

I've had a few to drink so I'll keep this brief at risk of offending.

Some of our fans are pricks. Total, utter pricks. One of the worst away days for standing up and getting behind the team. We may have been shit, but we were shit at Palace as well and our fans were fucking excellent there. Where have those fans gone? Instead they're replaced by people who attack their fellow fans for showing solidarity with another set of fans who are about to lose their club.

On the pitch, we were shit. No fight, no passion and second to every ball. We were torn to shreds by Swansea who just had far too much pace for us.

Their fans were shit. Quiet as lambs.

The referee was shit, for both sides as well. Missed horrendous fouls all over the field.

Everything about the game though was bloody excellent today.

It happened right next to me but I wasn't targeted.

Having a go at a couple of my mates on the row in front for some reason, bit of an over-reaction to us showing solidarity with Pompey fans who so far as we aware were facing bankruptcy. We were then accused of 'killing the atmosphere' for singing different songs to people a few rows away. Just thought that the Abe eats dogs and Ingerlund rubbish were a bit dull to be honest, hence we sang the songs we always sing. I despair sometimes, I really do. If I hadn't had such a cracking time to and from the game today, I'd probably knock away days on the head after today.

Blimey, so that's 3 season tickets sent back and now stopped aways too. Must be bad.

Spot on. I swear it was a West Stand day out!

People banging on about how Pompey stuffed us 6-1 and laughed at us...well wouldn't we if we beat someone 6-1? Course we would! It's not about who the team is (I have no feelings either way towards Pompey) but I'd have stood and sung for Forest/Derby/Cov/Histon/Hinckley etc if they were on the verge of going out of business. I don't want to see ANY team go out of existence.

It was said that they [Pompey] didn't give a shit about us when we went into administration, true enough, I'm sure they didn't but, they are facing the prospect of disappearing all together - slightly different.

If you don't agree with what we were singing, then that's fine. Nobody was trying to force you to sing with us. But the way that fan reacted (leaping over seats to try and get at one of our fans) was totally uncalled for. I mean, we had a couple of kids with our group, not to mention the other kids in the away end. Hardly the right thing for them to be seeing is it?

To the football - well shocking doesn't really cover it. We looked tired, so many players seemed unable to control the ball. Oakley and Wellens were shocking and kept being caught in possession. As did Moussa once or twice. Fryatt should have come off - he just didn't look hungry.

They were closing us down as soon as the ball left Weale's foot. They totally outclassed us today, end of.

We saw Milan and the owners getting into their cars after the game, Milan gave us a nice wave, the owners smiled but I think it was plain to see, they weren't very happy.

Will be a totally different crowd out for Barnsley and Bristol City so many regular lads I know didn't bother today.

I know what you mean though did Swansea last year, not an attractive setting for a decent away but at least you made the best of it.

No season tickets sent back and I'm still doing aways. It's all about the people for me, and I've met some cracking people home and away. Just getting a bit disillusioned with it all unfortunately. Not all that surprising considering.

Perhaps if Pompey fans had shown some solidarity when we were in the mire, instead of accusing our club of being cheats, calling for points deductions, automatic relegation and winding up orders, I (for one) would be more sympathetic. Maybe if Pompey fans didn't inundate our messageboard to tell us this at the time, I wouldn't be thinking "what goes around, comes around". Especially seeing as their owner at the time hadn't bought the club for a quid when they themselves were in administration just a couple of years before....

What's happening on the south coast is sad for football as a whole, but please don't expect me to join in a show of solidarity with fans who wanted my club to disappear 8 years ago.

Yeah, thoroughly looking forward to Barnsley. Proper away day that.

I honestly have no idea how away days can be so different week to week. We sounded superb at Elland Road, were brilliant at Selhurst Park yet were dreadful today. It's an absolute mystery why some away days seem to attract the quality fans and some attract the idiots. All I can attribute it to is the divide between old-school away days that attract the old school fan like Sheffield United, Barnsley and Palace and the games at new builds like Coventry and Swansea that are usually shit.

That's just guesswork though, I'm sure there are numerous examples of us going to new grounds and being decent. Play-off at Cardiff for example. You have to make the best of it though, and we certainly did that. Cracking fun had on the minibus to South Wales.

Fair comment but if they were top of the table and we were mid-table in the 2002-2003 season rather than chasing them every step of the way to the title, would they have been so keen to see us disappear? I get the feeling that they were so hostile to us because they wanted us to conveniently disappear rather than anything else. Doesn't excuse their behaviour of course as some of their fans were absolute tits, and I do understand the notion of what goes around comes around, but I'd like to think that if we were in the same position other clubs would care about us. We're all football fans at the end of the day and anybody would be absolutely devastated to see their club implode.

League positions are a convenient excuse. Having been in administration themselves, their fans should or could have been more sympathetic; our position was not the same as theirs. Whilst our downfall was self-inflicted, as most cases of this type are, City had negotiated new repayment options with a lot of creditors. Had one creditor, who wasn't even owed as much as many of the local businesses that in the end missed out, not thrown his weight about, City wouldn't have gone into administration. Unlike Portsmouth, both this time and last.

I won't forget how we, as a club, were held up to be pariahs of the footballing world. I won't forget what other fans said and wrote about us. And I won't be losing any sleep over other club's problems just yet.

Football is wrong these days; it needs clubs to go out of business for people to realise this, and to do something about it. But until it's a club that's bigger than us or Portsmouth, "normal" business will resume for the time being. Ask Paul Stretford.

Of course the way their fans behaved was inexcusable, and schadenfreude towards Portsmouth is perhaps understandable from our point of view. But as you say, they weren't the only fans who were calling us every name under the sun. More or less every club was calling for a 10 point deduction and it's because of us that that is now the penalty for going into administration in the Football League. Does that mean that I shouldn't give two hoots about any club on the verge of bankruptcy that happened to have fans and a board that queued up to condemn us in 2002? Perhaps I'm too much of a soft fan in the sense that I empathise with other clubs having known full well how it felt to think that I wouldn't have a club to support if an investor didn't come in. We were lucky, it appears Portsmouth have been as well now, but one day a club won't be and will go under. That club could be Stockport, it could be Accrington, hell it could even be us if the Thais get bored or run out of baht.

I find it bloody terrifying because one day the bottom will fall out of this game and who knows'll be the casualty. There are numerous clubs for whom I have more affection than Pompey to be honest, and I desperately wanted to see them knocked off their perch while in the Premier League, but I couldn't wish bankruptcy and the loss of a football club on a set of fans. Not even Forest or Derby.

A few words about the game, interesting, but not in a good way.

Was reasonably happy when I saw the team sheet, Dyer for the injured Gallagher was a no brainer and rotating Fryatt for Waghorn seemed a reasonable call. Cunningham's inclusion surprised me a bit though, Berner, whatever his faults does bring composure to the left flank and most especially to Hobbs.

Thought the setup was fine, but that lasted about 1 minute! They pressured us from the off and we simply did not cope, we were hurried in possession and our passing was really poor, so we had virtually no ball. Swansea were sharper, quicker and altogether more determined, we simply could not keep the ball in the face of Swansea pressure, so at no point were we playing our game.

Swansea simply kept the ball better and pushed forward at every opportunity, we were on the back foot virtually the whole of the first half, our bacline looked jittery, Hobbs really off the pace and missing Berner, outclassed really. About the only positive for the first half was that we worked hard, did not concede and managed a couple of decent chances, Fryatt and Davies both going close. The most negative was our awful passing out from defence, we were losing the ball in our own half way, way too often.

Second half started much the same and it only took Swansea 5 or 6 minutes to get in front, a simple long ball and Davies was hopelessly out paced by Emnes who finished well. As the half progressed we started to resort to the hoof, first Hobbs, then Wellens and Oakley joining in, it was clear that we needed to make some changes.

Unfortunately at this point our choices were severely limited by injuries to Cunningham and while he was off the field Davies pulled up as well, bizarrely Sven chose to replace Moussa with Abe, despite still being down to 10 men and Davies already struggling. We had to make further changes just a few minutes later as Morrison replaced the limping Davies then Waghorn was on for King, so 4-4-2 and all change with Dyer mostly on the left and nobody much on the right.

Waghorn brought fresh legs and some much needed aggression to our forward play and for just a few moments it looked like City might stage an unlikely comeback, with Waghorn and Morrison having fleeting chances. Swansea were not idle either, Sinclair hitting the bar then confirming there superiority with Sinclair scoring with virtually the last kick of the game

Overall we were very disappointing, without the ball our passing game never emerged, our attacking players never got forward to support Fryatt who was hopelessly isolated. For whatever reason we were totally unable to hold a high line, so we were trying to pass the ball in our own third, suicidal under Sousa and now under Sven. We were supposed to play 4-5-1 but for much of the day we were playing 9-0-1.

Put simply we failed to cope with the aggressive pressing game that Swansea played rather well. Our back 4 could not get out and hold a high line as we did at Leeds, our midfield wilted under pressure to the point where their first touch was poor and the passing woeful. Neither Dyer nor Moussa made any significant forward progress so Fryatt was totally isolated and frustrated. Playing 4-5-1 does not mean leaving your striker totally isolated, your supposed to have enough men in midfield to give him proper support, didn't happen today though.

If Abe is so good at free kicks, why have Oakley taking our set pieces? He's so shit at them it's unbelievable.

Judging from today's game. Swansea are a very, very good pressuring side. They never let any of our players have time on the ball. They are also a very quick side with the pace they have in their front three. Swansea deserved their win today.
