CKB Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Disappointed but lets face it Swansea are on a decent run at the moment and are 3rd in the league! I did raise my eyebrows a tad when i saw the team today and from all accounts Sven got it a tad wrong today but every manager gets things wrong from time to time.. Sven is learning more and more about what he needs to do and who will fit into his style and who is deadwood and i'm positive he will get us on a good run sooner rather than later
Haydos Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 I'm 100% certain he wasn't. He just posts like he is every week. Fair play, does he not get called out on it every week? Pretty annoying.
Karljohn Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Seems you weren't at the match so it's harsh to criticise Abe. If I don't see a match I don't comment. True I am taking on board what Alan Young said today but I have seen him enough times to comment, not today, but enough of him to note that he's not going to improve our team, if you could point me out something positive he's done since he was brought to the club then please do so, how on earth does he take instruction whilst on the pitch?
Ron Burgundy Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 i'm sure we started 4-5-1 on tues anyway. with gal on the right and with all due respect looked sh*t hot in first 25mins. hit the bar and created numerous chances. so not really seeing wot the problem is especially with dyer back!! listened to the game online on a swansea radio station and the amount of times they said it was like a training excercise for the Swans was unreal! yes todays tactics may of been wrong and clearly prooved to be and that will obv be looked at, but im sure sven saw the plus sides in the first 20 mins on tues and thought it would work again. Give the bloke a f in chance. i expect the only real thing he knows about our players at the min is the size of all there penis' in order (N'guessans/dyers biggest?) after taking them to numerous thai brothels at the start of the month! as for tues night. Walkers with 2 stands open and out sung by god no's how many baggies fans......... not looking foward at all!
ollie_patterson Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 i'm just glad Howard will be sticking around for 2 more years....i think he's amazing.
purpleronnie Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Have the west brom fans improved then? I remember them sitting in silence.
Ron Burgundy Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Have the west brom fans improved then? I remember them sitting in silence. they just do that boing boing B.S. dont they either way then wot im trying tosay is it will be shit only £10 notes for season ticket holders and we cant get more than 2 stands open against a prem side being 1 win away from a Q/F place. DISGRACE

Those that saw him play at Portsmouth in the Carling Cup say he played well. I agree that communication is a problem but surely in all his spare time he can learn football jargon and spoken English. He hasn't started in the League and hasn't played in his preferred central midfield position. I hope he starts against WBA although that won't be a proper test against superior opposition.
Father Ted Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 I can't believe people are saying to sod the cup! Would people really swap the cup wins under O'Neill and Europe for 'league priority' even though we now have the squad to cope with the demands of both. COME ON LEICESTER!

DISGRACE Worth going just to see Mattock get skinned Carling Cup = Apathy for most clubs and fans, Man United ruined cup competitions in this country by deciding that a tournament in South America was more important than the FA Cup, the FA playing semi finals at Wembley along with Fergies fringe players and Wengers young gunners taking part has damaged the two competitions for a long long time. We've got more chance of finding Rooney in a gentleman's "bodycare" establishment than a United cup starting X1.

Would people really swap the cup wins under O'Neill and Europe for 'league priority' even though we now have the squad to cope with the demands of both. COME ON LEICESTER! We can barely cope with the Championship let alone the Carling Cup. We don't have a realistic chance of winning the Carling Cup and since financially we appear to be awash with cash then we do not need the money. I recall being at Crystal Palace and watching Tunchev being injured in the FA Cup. We don't need injuries and suspensions when we are trying to get points and achieve the remote possibility of getting into the Play Offs.
Geordie Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Sven will have learnt one very valuable lesson today.

Fair point, I just don't see albeit in the brief time he has had, how he improves us. Considering he's got fresh legs as a sub I would be looking for a more of an impact, they did absolutely pan him today on the radio, he looks shaky, he looks like he needs an arm around him at times, I guess if you couldn't speak a word of English you probably think am I getting this right?! should I have played that ball? maybe a bit more communication would help make better decisions. WBA wont be a proper test as you quite rightly state, but Preston would be.
Thracian Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Seems you weren't at the match so it's harsh to criticise Abe. If I don't see a match I don't comment. I didn't see the match either, 'though I've seen him in other games. And what troubles me is that the matches are adding up now and I can't remember a single game where he's shone. Yes, I know they've been substitute appearances in the League, but even disappointing players like Gallagher have had their brilliant days or their magic moments. This guy's not an Academy player charged with fitting into the side quietly and not making any cock-ups. He's a fully fledged World Cup international. I keep getting told by people on here that he doesn't need time to acclimatise, as i believe to be the case, but should be given a regular place in the side. Well, that's the way it's working for whatever reason, and it sure would be nice to have one report of his making a significant impact, don't you think?

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 That was fucking dreadful, got to be the worst game I have listened to on the radio for ages. Sven's tactics really were wrong. Cant see why he started Fryatt, and bringing Abe on was pointless, considering we had Cunningham off the pitch for ages.
Jakemoore Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 I wish someone would actually compliment Swansea, they were better then us because they stopped us playing. We couldn't do anything about it, Sven shouldn't start 4-5-1, and he should have changed it but he didn't. We lacked a cutting edge throughout. If we can make it to January and be around the 8th-12th places then we'll be ok, because of Sven's links.
unreachable Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 After Tuesday, it won't be an issue so I shouldn't worry about it. I'm not worrying about it. In fact, having checked WBA's website I see that they played a "shadow" team in the last round against Man City so we have a chance of progressing if they do the same against us. Football is entertainment not a source of worry. Cue jokes about chasing shadows etc.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 did cunningham start. if so why? I didnt get chance to even listen to the game 2day! Not impressed with cunningham signing to be fair pretty pointless...please tell me he wern't to blame 2day!

Football is entertainment not a source of worry. Cue jokes about chasing shadows etc. Maybe my use of "worry" was misplaced, perhaps I should have said "concerned". You seemed concerned! In my opinion, Leicester will probably lose on Tuesday and all of your concerns, apropos injuries arising thereto, will be redundant.
smudger63 Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 It sounded to me that King barely touched the ball today so was taken off which is fair enough. It sounded like both Wellens & Oakley were too slow and sloppy today but at least they were touching the ball. I would have thought that he would have brought Howard on too if he did not have to take Davies off injured. I agree that it didn`t seem that king had much of an influence on the game, but there have been other games when we`ve hardly noticed him, and then out of nowhere, he pops up with a crucial goal, which is why i personally would not have subbed him.

Yes being a Leicester fan does worry me and depress me after seeing some matches but I do like to go into games with an element of optimism. Anything can happen!
Kitchandro Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Swansea may be a hard place to go and they may have played well, but these aren't excuses for our performance. It was obvious to everyone that it needed to be changed at half time. Sven needed to show some balls and either make an attacking substitution or change the formation, which didn't work today regardless of whether it worked on Tuesday. You can't afford not to go for it when you're losing. Today, we seemed to play for a draw, then when we were losing, played for a narrow loss. You need to be decisive and positive Sven! The thing is if you are playing well any formation can work, but if you are playing badly with a 4-5-1 you have no outlet and just invite pressure. I HATE 4-5-1, especially with Fryatt up front on his own, it's brainless. Howard should have started up front in a 4-4-2 - then even if we were under pressure and not playing well, we could get it up to Howard, and he would have someone to knock it down to. And he scored on Tuesday lest we forget! To not bring him on at all was a shambles. And I agree with Matt - Tommy G shut the fook up, you're making yourself sound a complete twat. Just because we are questioning Sven today - which is reasonable - does not mean we want him sacked. It has to be said he had a shocker today with the tactics and substitutions. If you can't take the manager being criticised, fook off to 606 with those pussies.
Kitchandro Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Anyone else think playing 4-5-1 is just admitting that you don't think your team is good enough to outplay the opponent? Seems a sort of 'we'll let you have possession and then we'll break away and score' kind of thing. Instead of seizing the game, we are waiting for them to slip up. But they didn't, they just kept playing well and putting pressure on. From this we lose confidence and it gets harder and harder to get out.
Karljohn Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Playing with one up top never seems to work for us, big Steve sadly isn't quick enough, Fryatt looks completely isolated and lost and Waggy is probably the most effective but doesn't appear to be able to control a football at the moment. I only hope that today is the catalyst for better things, our turnaround game, we have had quite a tough start playing 7 of the current top 8, our season starts here, I would hope that by the time we face Preston we have reached an acceptable fitness level and we can compete over 90 minutes closing down and working as hard as what Swansea did today by the sounds of it.
