There is more than enough talent in the squad now to push on in to the top half and if we get their we can make incremental changes in January. It's time to settle down, roll our sleeves up and get on with it. You can't buy a team, you have to build one. This is the most bleeding sensible thing on here I really don't get excited by big names. Most of them would be here to put themselves in the shop window. None of them would be here for the long haul and then we will have lost some talented players that we already have. Just everyone calm down - Sven would be stupid to buy 20 players and get rid of the same amount - he's not going to do that (I hope) and we have a good squad - we just need to string a couple of wins together, get some confidence, and you will see the team that played last season I'm sure. Besides, I'd rather have a bunch of hardworking, little-known players who feel a part of something than a bunch of has beens who have no real motivation to play for us.

We have just struggled to beat Preston at home, a team who were right with US near the bottom, lost 4-1 to West Broms reserve team and you are both happy with our squad? Absolutely right in saying Sven would be mad to get 20 players in, but who has said we need 20 players? 2-3 MAX in january. You dont think Steve Howard needs competition as a target man? you are happy playing Wellens and Oakley? we are playing a defensive midfielder on the right wing.. maybe needs looking at? Has beens? whats the oldest player Sven has signed? a 30 year old striker WHO HAS PLAYED FOR ENGLAND. others being all below 27. :frusty:

The mere fact he is playing in Europe's 2nd most prestigious club competition devalues your whole point. I agree with you that Curtis Davies is a good player but just by being in a good competition doesn't make you a good player. Didn't Roque Junior win the champs league and the world cup? He was awful.

He made horrible mistake for Villa not just signing for them but during a Europa League match back in August where gave away a corner when there was no need & from that corner Vienna scored!.

He could do a job for us, might struggle to get a game with fryup in such good form or Rooney, word has it he is having wife issues and would like a move away from old trafford..... on a more sensible note, i wouldnt mind seeing sameras from Celtic, on a free from Celtic in the summer and did a good job at man city after sven signed him.
